If drinking vampire blood turns a person into a vampire, would alligators feeding on Lestat create immortal vampire gators? Now that's terrifying, super strong and moving at super speed lol. I think they wouldn't have the intelligence to hide from sunlight though.

You two appreciate really good movies like I do and this one is so well done from the wardrobe to the screenplay and cinematography.

2023-12-01 13:21:07 +0000 UTCThe books by Anne Rice were really good. The real star is Lestat, but you don't get his story till book 2, "The Vampire Lestat." Lestat is basically an untreated bi-polar vampire. He is also very powerful even in this first movie given how young he is. They get stronger with age, but a lot has happened to him to make him how he is in this book/film.

He's still active, but there's not as much hype as there used to be. His movies are worth checking out. My personal faves are Pump Up the Volume and Murder in the First. Also, he does a great Jack Nicholson impression. 😉

Great reaction A&B 💜 It's been a while since I've seen this movie and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it held up since the 90s. The new TV series allows for more character development and backstory. Plus the sets and wardrobes are visually beautiful. Jacob Anderson (played Grey Worm in GoT) is so believable as Louis even though his character was traits were modified. Sam Reid is a gorgeous LeStat. It's closer to the books since it didn't have to be crammed into a 2 hour movie time. There are some modern twists which I thought were clever. Also, it's less taboo now to have the full love story included. Highly recommend it.

2023-11-27 09:59:45 +0000 UTCThis is one of Tom Cruise’s best performances. He steals this movie. He’s so campy and hilarious. He used to be able to do fun stuff like this before his cult made him be an action star almost exclusively. Another knock-your-socks-off Cruise performance is in 1999’s Magnolia, a phenomenal, highly recommended Paul Thomas Anderson film. And this was before Brad Pitt was really a powerhouse actor. He falters here a bit and supposedly hated the part, but as is often said, he’s so beautiful. I agree with others who have mentioned checking out his film Legends of the Fall which came out the same year. They were like a one-two punch that launched him into stardom. Claudia was played by Kirsten Dunst, she knocks this out of the park too, especially for how young she is. My heart really broke for her having a fully grown mind but stuck in a child’s body. River Phoenix, Joaquin Phoenix’s older brother was originally cast as the interviewer, but he OD’d just a few weeks before shooting, so Christian Slater was a last minute addition. And Antonio Banderas as Armand…such beautiful men in this film. You have to check in him out in Desperado which came out the year after this, it’s a really fun movie.

Louis faded into the background because he really was a whiny depressed little bitch. There's a lot more in the books about the loneliness of the vampire life. The worst thing is that vampires can read the minds of mortals, but not the minds of other vampires. Whenever they create a companion, they lose that closeness.

The next book The Vampire Lestat gives a better understanding of him. Sadly, a movie was never made for it. There is a film based on the third book, The Queen of the Damned, but it’s not very good, in my opinion.

Tom Cruise wore lifts in his shoes so he wouldn’t look so short next to Brad Pitt! Oprah walked out of the movie because the scenes with the rats grossed her out so much!
