He kept giving money to grifters and they knew that this dude did that so they kept coming by and the dad kept giving them money. Chuck just assumed it was Jimmy all those years. Yeah, we see Jimmy take the difference that time, but it was the father who pissed away all their money. Jimmy knew, Chuck didn’t and Jimmy didn’t have the heart to tell.
