Better Call Saul S2. E7 and E8

Better Call Saul S2. E7 and E8

Is anyone else 10x more interested in what Mike is doing than Jimmy?

Dan Gonya

Jimmy never would have been accepted to the bar association after he passed his test in New Mexico in the first place. He would have needed lot of references and I'm not sure if his past offences in Illinois would have disqualified him or not in the first place.

Brina Blue

That cocobolo desk Jimmy is having Omar unload is worth 5x more than that car Jimmy is driving

Josh

Concerning Chuck: It doesn’t matter how much Jimmy does for him. He was a good brother for getting him out of jail and getting him the job in the mail room, but he could never accept Jimmy as a lawyer at the same firm. He is right that Jimmy’s personality and lack of morals make him an unacceptable candidate for such a prestigious firm and Jimmy would never even be considered for a position there if Chuck were not his brother. Jimmy is not a team player as we saw with the commercial he aired without first getting the approval of the bosses of Davis and Mane. He doesn’t even understand that he was wrong to do it. He was certain that if it got them more clients they would thank him for it. Chuck was right in pointing out that soliciting clients outright, as Jimmy did on the bus, would get them all in a lot of trouble and hurt their case and reputation if discovered. The first time I watched this show, I didn’t see it from any other angle than Jimmy’s.

Mike was both threatened and paid off to change his statement to the police about the gun, which would affect the length of the prison sentence Tuco gets. His whole scheme was concocted to get Tuco out of the way without killing him. He knows how dangerous the Salamanca family is and how powerful.

I don’t blame Kim for being cautious about partnering with Jimmy. She is offering to share expenses and practice in the same building with him, but keep to her own methods of practice and ethics. She knows how he is and is not willing to jeopardize her own career by partnering with him. She doesn’t completely trust him because she knows him too well. Remember how they worked that con together on the man in the bar? Jimmy would have cashed the guy’s check, but Kim’s morals wouldn’t let her go that far. She was content to keep the check as a souvenir.

Jimmy is much more fascinating than Saul.

Not sure where to request so I'll do it here:) Please watch Big Love and Six Feet Under!

Thank you for championing this tv series!! We are ready for the ride!

Asia and BJ

True. And there is a great deal I could write about his handling of Chuck's mental health issues but some of that would be spoilerific and so I must settle for: Jimmy is pretty selfish.

Rue Surnameunimportant

Buckle up. It only gets better and better from here! Y’all are in for an amazing ride! And it’s only the beginning

Adam smith

I recall Jimmy trying to persuade Chuck that it was in his interest to cash out of HHM — nothing would have happened without Chuck’s ok and signature. There was nothing inappropriate about Jimmy talking to Howard about what he thought was in Chuck’s best interest.

N M

It's easy to forget that the very first intro to Jimmy and Chucks relationship is Jimmy trying to get HHM to settle with Chuck in his "retirement" behind Chuck's back

Kyle Turman

To be fair, I said "fucked his family over" ... idk how he "fuck is family over". You are taking this to heart with a heavy amount of passion. I was saying that Jimmy takes shortcuts and has, in fact, fucked people over in his life due to his boredom with the slower processes that are more fair. He was stealing. Let's be real. If he was not given that money with full awareness, it was stealing. I still like Jimmy as a character. Is he a little thief? Fuck ya.

Rue Surnameunimportant

And how exactly did little Jimmy “fuck is family over”? A young boy living alone with his father, who also works at their small, family-owned store and doesn’t draw any salary at all, taking the petty cash from the cash register, isn’t really stealing from the family. It was just him and his father — Chuck was already away at college. The profits from their little store were for little Jimmy’s benefit, so the money issue was really just and advancement of funds that were already for his own benefit.

N M

I saw the episode, too.

Rue Surnameunimportant

Jimmy and Kim both started out in the mail room at HHM — and Kim got hired. Jimmy “pulled himself up by his own bootstraps”, graduated law school and passed the NM bar exam. Jimmy was qualified to be a first-year associate at HHM. Howard was the sole hiring partner while Chuck was absent on leave. However, Chuck made that secret call to Howard. Howard would have hired Jimmy but for Chuck’s late-night call to tell him not to hire. That’s being a dick.

N M

I don't believe in nepotism so maybe that's the disconnect between our views. I don't believe he owed Jimmy a damn thing. I do agree that he has been petty. He didn't steal from their hardworking father nor spend a disproportionate amount of time treating people like marks/victimizing them etc. But I get the way people feel since he (Jimmy) is a likeable dude. That seems to a be a huge thing between them -- the fact Chuck is more by-the-book/serious, etc, hasn't taking shortcuts, while Jimmy has the charisma to do precisely that. He also has smarts, but he often chooses the easier way.

Rue Surnameunimportant

Chuck blocked Jimmy from getting hired as a first-year associate at HHM — that’s a huge betrayal, especially given everything that Jimmy did for him. Jimmy slaving away 24/7 as Chuck’s personal errand boy wasn’t rewarded properly. That first job out of law school is important and sets the career path— Chuck made sure that Jimmy didn’t get any help from him. And then he screws his own brother over a second time when he does everything in his power to make sure Kim doesn’t succeed either, by taking away her only client, when he learns Kim and Jimmy decided to join together as solo practitioners. Chuck has done a lot of harm to those close to him.

N M

Ngl, I love Jimmy for his personality. But if you strip away his pizzazz, Chuck has done much less harm than Jimmy. There are personal grievances involved, of course. We don't spend nearly enough time seeing all the ways Jimmy has fucked his family over.

Rue Surnameunimportant

If you listen to the TV at the end of the episode 8 the argument with the man Walter on the TV show with his ex-wife telling him that he is no longer her husband or her boss. I always felt that was a nudge to when Walter and Skylar had the fight around season 5 when hank died but waaaaay less crazy and more civilized with the same premise “your no longer my boss or my husband”. Small details but Vince Gilligan the creator puts loads of little easter eggs and call backs in this show so I’m always looking out for ones I missed or forgotten. I love easter egg hunting like that in shows😂😂😂

Cole hauser

I love it when Mike is up to something and we don’t really know til it happens. And I love how much he cares for his family. Makes Walter even worse….

Bill B.

We have a Dos Hermanos here. I make the same mistake too! 🤣😂

Justtired

Thought you guys had put it together after the last pair of espisodes that Mike only changed his story about Tuco’s gun once he saw that the crazy Salamanca twins would kill his daughter and law and granddaughter if he didn’t. Love this episode, one of my favorites, especially how Jimmy does all of the ridiculousness to get fired but keep the bonus 😂😂😂

Bill B.

Mike knew about the ice cream place because in ep6 that's where he sat down with Hector and the twins and asked for $50k to tell the police the gun wasn't Tuco's.

Davey

YO BJ!! grab da crispy, burnt popcorn & leeeeet's gooooo!!!! 🤣

Kevin

Yo Yo Yo !!! Awesome. I want to get home quick to watch but there’s a drunk guy in front of me swerving all over the road. D#ck. He won’t let me pass. Saul always said …."Don't drink and drive. But if you do, call me.” 🚗

Jesse

This show is beginning to get juicy

Davey

Let’s go!!!

Asia and BJ
