I've seen both, and I think the 70s one is better. Few remakes could find an actress as good as Sissy Spacek. I do appreciate that the remakes keep the stories fresh with younger generations though. I usually prefer remakes, but not with Carrie.

It is such a good movie and story, plus anything with Sissy Spacek is worth watching. I think one of the reasons why I am hoping the eventually watch Carrie is because it shows how fascinated King was with telekinesis, and he was so well studied and ahead of his time.

Asia! BJ! You should watch CAPE FEAR for horror October. Directed by Scorsese and has Robert De Niro as one of the creepiest, scariest movie villains of all time. Really twisted but really good.

Yeah, I really wanted Psyco too. It's stood the test of time and changed filmmaking forever. A perfect, classic Alfred Hitchcock movie. I saw American Psycho a long time ago... not scary.

Very true i think what some see as horror would lean more toward thriller for example but your explanation here is a perfect example as to the subcategories (so to speak) of what falls under or fits into the "Horror" genre

AP is my fav on the list but IMO if they re looking for scary October films im gonna go with a more standard answer and say The Conjuring 2. They are both great i just think recasting my vote works more for what they were asking. Did they specifically ask for scary movies though? American Psycho is for sure the outlier on this list - can’t imagine most people think of it as an “October” movie. However “scary” is only one part of the horror genre. There’s slashers, psychological horror, creature features, body horror, gothic, comedy horror, art house, supernatural, etc. Might as well vote for your fav because horror really is a wide, encompassing thing. It would be fun to get a mixture. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Everyone has their own tastes. The OG Carrie is good in it's own right I do agree but I personally enjoy the newest remake compared to the original. Same with the OG IT mini series, the new movies are better just my own personal preference. Kinda how I like Fargo the series, the movie is boring until the final 40 minutes my opinion but I'll watch whatever just for their reactions, even stuff I don't personally enjoy lol.

American Psycho is my pick but Conjuring 2 is okay, just the same old cut and paste possession flick. All the others are corny at best and/or outdated. REC is a Spanish horror movie. Remade in the US into Quarantine. Original is far better. It's like a roller coaster once it gets going. Super scary and intense. It's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen.

I chose the Conjuring 2 because those movies always scare me, but they are all great - you can’t go wrong. Although, I would categorize American Psycho as a satire of yuppie culture and more of a thriller as compared to the others. Don’t get me wrong…it definitely should be on your watch list, I just don’t put it with horror, more like a Silence of the Lambs thriller. Compared to the amped up scares in today’s movies, I don’t find Carrie or Christine that scary…but I get sucked in every time they are on. Just like there’s this vampire movie called 30 Days of Night…I know it’s not the best, but I watch it every…single…time…it comes on! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I voted for Carrie because it’s such a classic. It’s directed by Brian DePalma who is a master of suspense. By far, the best film on the list. American Psycho is another must see. It *is* very disturbing but it’s also one of the most brilliant satires ever made. I think it’s hysterical.
