2023-09-09 09:17:44 +0000 UTCI am glad you guys did this movie. It gives people a chance to see who the Russians really are. Their people have gone through intense hardship for centuries. Most Americans probably don't know anything about Russian history. This movie is very accurate historically.

I'd say the dialogue is the real strength of the story as well as the dichotomy of rich and poor. I'll check out the movie you mentioned. And maybe put it in as a request sometime ;) I do love history movies and the Russian revolution always fascinated me.

I much prefer "Dr. Zhivago" for an entertaining perspective of the Russian revolution and fall of the Romanovs. It is so sad what happened to the family, regardless. There have been many DNA tests on bodies in shallow graves near the house where they were kept prisoners.

2023-09-01 04:37:50 +0000 UTCLol I actually had to watch it in tenth grade too! I was so fascinated by the gloomy tone and all the twists and turns, and the sense of impending doom upon someone who has no idea what is going on. Really an underrated gem, even if the pacing could be a lot better.

I first saw this in the 10th grade for an in-class assignment - watch along and answer questions about the historical events and relevances in the plot, one of the easiest and most fun tasks ever A definite surprise but a welcome one
