I'd have to watch closely, but I can't be sure if David ever touched Elijah until the very end...

There's an interesting deleted scene in this movie where David goes to like an Olympic style gym and starts benching like...500lbs, and all the dudes are standing around like...the hell?! Apparently they cut it from the movie because the figured that it was made pretty clear already through the weightlifting scene with his son.

Elijah explains why David doesn't know he's a hero: it's an age in which everyone is told they aren't special, which makes them doubt themselves.

This here is just part one in a three part trilogy. Must watch all three to really get the full spectrum of the show.

Laughed at start of the movie after the train crash and Asia and BJ were like, "How did he survive that?" I was like, "It would be good if you had some clues to help out, maybe like the title of the movie." Even if it doesn't answer why he is that. I feel for David as human guilt in people like him and I'll bet he will carry guilt for all those on the train that died to find him.

Such a brilliant trilogy! You've got to watch Split and Glass. James McAvoy is astonishing

Split then Glass next. You must see all three in this trilogy. James McAvoy in Split gives an Oscar worthy performance as a seriously deranged character. ✌🎬

As good as the movie is, I think it suffered from no one knowing the connection. I think even MORE people would have seen it back in the day. And if Asia and BJ weren’t in on it ahead of time, it’s likely it would be put WAAAAAAAAAAY on the back burner, as they have an already long list of things to watch.

I don't remember the line exactly and haven't watched the movie in years until tonight when I watch their reaction. However David Dunn did have a phobia of water and almost drowned in it as a kid I believe. When I sit down I'll look for the line and follow up. This is significant to his character and his powers I do know. I think you are either referring to the wife talking to Glass, or his old teacher I think referencing his dying in the pool and coming back.

Great movie. But I think you’ve seen all of M Nights good movies. It’s such a shame from The Village until now, his movies fell completely off. I do like The Happening but I’m pretty much alone with that.

Everyone in here just blew up the spot multiple times. Should have just told you to watch Split next. Cat’s obviously out of the bag now. Split was a great return to form for Shyamalan after several misfires…and it’s *twist* was a 🤯. But now you know what it is…smdfh…🤦🏼♀️

Shyamalan is known for his off beat movies. When they work they're great, but when they don't work they're terrible. I didn't like The Village and the only good after that was Glass, which finished up the story of David Dunn and Elijah Price. I did like Lady in the Water, but it's for hardcore Shyamalan fans only.

This is a classic that gets better with time. When they talk of great "superhero" and "comic book" movies, they need to include this one and its sequels. Not your conventional comic book movies but an original take. Always thought Samuel L. Jackson shouldve been at least nominated for an Oscar in this one too. His character showed that villains arent born but in his case and the circumstances he had to endure, they're made. Anyways, thanks for showing this one!

Lol not after The Village... It starts "at" the village. The only one of recent I'll give him, is the movie call "Old". Had a good premise and even though it does the now classic Shyamalan ending nonsense, it actually works for this movie making it one of his better one's.

The man you saw in Signs and who you saw getting frisked by David is the director of those movies, M. Night Shyamalan
He cameos in his pictures, like Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino
After the Village that's been mentioned in these comments, Shyamalan's movies get worse so after that movie, don't take any more suggestions by him
Appreciate the choice here, it was great seeing your reaction!

The guy you recognized from signs is M. Night, the director. He has cameos in all his films. He was also the doctor in the 6th sense that was pointing out the injuries on the kid and brought in social services to talk with the mother

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but one classic tell that shamala's (sp), the director, puts in his movke is the significsnce of a charactet wewrjng the color RED.. anyone wearing red in his muted scenes represents their death!! So notice red shirts dress people dressed all in red. Means they died in whatever storyline is going on. And then if a man character is in Red . Then you know they are dead as well. Sometimes the characters don't know they are. Just a side note that makes his movies like a work of art

Asia, to answer who doesn't take sick days...I only know one person, my mother. She didn't take any for 30 years until they forced her to. At both jobs she worked. She's pretty big shoes to fill, I still feel for whoever took her post when she retired at 50 years.

Good request. I only wish people had just suggested watching SPLIT without mentioning it was part of a trilogy. It would have been really fun to watch you all discover that on your own. But, oh well...again, as everyone else mentioned, watch the movie SPLIT.
Dustin
2023-08-08 23:36:15 +0000 UTC
It's a fairly unusually paced movie and I think it might bother some people but overall it's a pretty good take on the genre, especially as an antidote to the usual fodder, in some ways it opened the door to more modern superhero mainstream movies, showing that you can make them darker and still attract decent audiences. As others have mentioned, this is actually part of a trilogy, but they're all quite different movies - to the point if you didn't even know going in you probably wouldn't know this and split are related - and that's definitely a good thing to keep mixing it up.

This movie actually isn't related to any (real life i.e Marvel/DC) comics material, though the premise in story is, but of it's own universe. It is an M. Night Shyamalan movie where he wanted to tell the story of how a down to earth regular man would deal with obtaining super powers and how it would translate to the real world. I must say, this aside from The sixth sense is probably if not the best M. Night had to offer.
I absolutely loved this movie. I liked "Split", but the third movie "Glass" he could of kept.

Oh! I hope you do all three of them! The first time I watched this was in the theater and I didn’t know it relates to a comic series (and I think - don’t come for me) this was before Marvel(?) Anyway, I’m excited to watch it having that perspective this time around. I don’t remember much from this one so it will be good to watch, but the next two are even better.

I'm assuming Interstellar won the poll, or maybe it's wishful thinking lol. When can we expect to see it? For another good Bruce Willis movie, check out "Looper" ( it's a sci-fi thriller).
