Idk if anyone has said it here in the comments, but the real Erin Brockovich was the waitress in the diner when she took the kids out early in the movie(when she didn’t eat anything). This is a great movie that I think everyone should see. Thanks for the opportunity to watch it with y’all.

I remember the first time I watch this movie was in high school it was either my science or history class. We had a block schedule, so my class was 90 mins long. We started to watch it towards the end of class, we didn't want to leave until we finished it. 23 years later it is still one of my favorite movies with Julia Roberts. If you haven't check out Pretty Woman, The Pelican Brief, My Best Friend's Wedding and I Love Trouble all starring Julia Roberts.

When they finished I was thinking of suggesting The Rainmaker since they seemed to be interested in the toxic disaster legal drama. Also Chernobyl.

So many big faces in this movie. Some I remembered from every time I’ve seen it, some I was reminded of, some I noticed after seeing them in other things since the last time I saw this. For one thing you had Marg Helgenberger (Donna Jensen) who of course was awesome in CSI Vegas as well as a much smaller part in Bad Boys. Albert Finney (Ed) was in The Bourne Ultimatum and in 007 Skyfall. Aaron Eckhart (George) was Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight. The Creepy Guy Has been in loads of great stuff. For me I remember him best from the sequel Conan The Destroyer. But he’s also been in Silence of the Lambs and Philadelphia. He’s a very memorable actor in smaller parts. Michael Harney (Mr. Jensen) has been in a lot. Recently Orange is the New Black, but also Deadwood and NYPD Blue and True Detective season 1. Annabelle’s dad was Wade Williams, he played the prison guard Officer Bellick in Prison Break. There were a few more, but that’s off the top of my head.

Now that you say that I remember that is the case. When I rewatched it just as it was cutting away I thought it was Skyler from Breaking Bad, I was going to go back when it finished and try to make that’s what I saw, then I saw your comment, lol.

This such a great movie. It reminds me of the movie Dark Waters (2019) with Mark Ruffalo. That was also similar to this and was based on a true story as well. Really good as well. An eye opener movie.

I wouldnt use those guys as an example as good guys they are all pretty bad guys actually. But i think i get what you are saying they do some things that are good for their family but in the end they are all criminals and murderes. Spell that wrong haha. But they are amazing to watch that show is so good its a little cringy sometimes but good overall.

So glad you enjoyed this, was a great movie. As others commented the waitress in the diner was the real Erin Brockovich. Also, the judge who denied the demers was also the real life judge who did so, LeRoy A. Simmons

Asia & BJ, thank you so much for the reaction video!!! My 44th birthday was July 27th, so an awesome birthday gift from y'all!
I hadn't seen this movie in a while and I enjoyed watching it over again with y'all. It hits you in the "feel goods" at the end.
The fact that she actually got to know these sick people, listen to them, truly care about them, be their voice against a huge corporation, it's amazing!
Asia, don't blame me if you go down that rabbit hole! 😂
Thanks again fam!! --Ross

Isn’t this an awesome film? I think I listed this one back when you asked for our must see films. Fun fact, when she took her kids out to eat in the early part of the film, the lady playing the waitress is the real Erin Brockovich. Also that lady who slammed the door in her face was the same actress who played the sheriff you recently watched in Signs. Great reactions. I knew you’d both really like this one.

Great movie and great performance... However, that year the Oscar should have went to Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream. That performance still crushes my soul to this day!

On April 26, 2000, both Jorg (George character) Halaby and Shawn Brown were arrested and charged with extortion for attempting to coerce more than $300,000 from Erin Brockovich and Ed Masry. They’d allegedly threatened to tell tabloids that the duo was having an affair and that Erin did not give her kids a safe environment to grow up in, both of which, Erin has claimed, are complete lies.

She was a self made woman by her early to mid 20s. Gotta love her smarts, determination, and ethics. The second case against PGE after the Hinkley case (think it was Kettleman) settled for the same amount~$300m+.
Ed Masery passed away ☹ and she went on to work for other law firms focused on environmental issues.
George ended up being a real turd after Erin found success and attempted to extort her for money. I think he went to jail for it, but don't quote me on that bc I could be wrong... just remember he was supposed to go to court the last time I read anything about her.
There was a TV series recently about Erin Brockovich called Rebel. It was a great show with excellent actors. I was disappointed when it was cancel before the first full season aired.

That's why Julia went home with an Oscar for this movie. She killed it. Erin Brockovich--- everyone needs one of her on your team. And her man George too--- not a drop of selfishness in him.

She lost her initial case because they judged her for being a woman with multiple children by different fathers, divorced more than once and her use of curse words when angry. Unfortunately, that's the reality of too many juries. 😒
