Wait is this the same director that did HEAT? I do see some similarities. Also the movie HEAT is a must must watch.

This flick is bad ass! The actors, the story, the music by Tangerine Dream and one of the best directors. Back when you watched Misery I had also recommended this film along with Cinderella Liberty. Everyone always knows and loves him for his role in the Godfather, which don’t get me wrong is a fantastic film and role he played. But I feel this was one of James Caans best roles. Oh and the bar and car dealerships were his own businesses. All through the movie he was in and out of them. He blew up both of his businesses, his home and sent his wife and kid away so that gangster wouldn’t get his hands on any of it in case he didn’t survive trying to kill that bastard. That’s why he crumbled that paper too. Everything in his life that meant something was on that paper and he had told his wife you have to change your thinking like you don’t care and having nothing to lose. He would be damned if that gangster was going to own him or take anything from him. Thanks to the VIP who recommended this!

Asia, BJ, I apologize in advance for this comment, because it's going to be lengthy, but I hope you'll see it. THANK YOU for discovering James Caan! He was in many films prior to this going back to the 60's. His big breakout role came in 1972 in THE GODFATHER, which you guys MUST see. By the time MISERY came out in 1990, THAT was the movie that people would say was hugely different for him. Can you imagine Kathy Bates trying to hold this guy that he portrayed in THIEF captive??? He'd have blown her away without blinking! LOL! THIEF is a great and underrated classic, but he had been playing pretty hardcore tough guys for years by then, though all quite unique and different. He made a career out of playing volatile, sometimes psychotic, deeply flawed and tragic characters, and made each one totally believable, such was his talent and range. He passed away a year ago, and I think now he will finally get his due respect, sadly like most notable artists, who were never fully appreciated during their lifetime. You owe it to yourselves to check out his other roles, especially those before this. I already mentioned The Godfather, but also I'd recommend HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT and BRIAN'S SONG, two other memorable James Caan films. There are many others. Thanks again guys, and THANK YOU to whomever suggested this film, it was fun watching with you!

James Caan played Sonny, oldest son of "The Godfather", older brother of Michael Corleone. Great movie.

Jim Belushi is the brother of John Belushi who was in The Blues Brothers along side Dan Akroyd. He was also the guy in the gorilla costume at the end of Trading Spaces when they were on the train.

The first James Caan (pronounced like the "aw" in "lawn") movie I ever saw was "The Godfather" 1 & 2. He played a character named Sonny who was just as ruthless as this character, but not as smart - amazing movies - one of the few franchises where the sequel is as good as the original.
