Them playing D&D in the 80's reminds me of doing the same thing (and no I have no shame) though they certainly didn't stick to how it's played much with the dice rolls. The fun though and time you spend at it is pretty bang on. I've laughed to tears at times playing that.

And I believe the basement is not the upside down, they still have to go through the freaky portal in the wall to get there. The gate just spews that floating stuff because it's open. But is it confusing because Joyce and Hopper were never shown going through it.

About 5000lbs of salt in water that is the same temperature as your body, so you can't feel the water and just float in complete silence and darkness. The only thing you can hear is your heart and breath. It can take you places, 30 minutes feels like 5 hours much like a long dream that feels like hours but is usually only minutes.

She's able to project her mind into the Upside-down to navigate through it without going there in body. It's like she's astral projecting herself. The Upside-down is a dark and twisted reflection of the world we know, and Eleven is able to interact with that reflection using her powers.

I thought they killed one and another one came through. Am I wrong? I thought fire could kill them. Maybe I am confused. I can’t remember what I thought the first time I saw it, but this time for some reason I just thought it was another one. Maybe it WAS the same one. Someone better versed than me please let me know. Also, I am dying to discuss a fan theory that just came out after season 4, but won’t until after 4, but best believe I am watching extra close this time around.
