War of the Worlds

War of the Worlds

Comments

Idk HOW you’re gonna do this one Asia! It’s creepy, scary, nuts. Here we go

Carol Rocha

This was one crazy movie!

Bill Bliss

I think the aliens pretty much died of the flu. The red stuff seemed to be like terraforming fertilizer.

Kyndu

Check out independence day with will smith and jeff goldblum amazing alien invader movie

Chris Smith

The book is really good too, Check out, Minority report- Tom cruise is the main actor. It’s crazy

Micah Anderson

Whats crazy about this movie is that it was originally a book and then a radio broadcast. The radio broadcast was so real people were losing their minds and thought we were actually under attack by aliens from Mars.

Andrew Nyberg

I watched this movie when I was like 12 years old and I remember being confused why Tom Cruise didnt just beat some sense into those kids. Also Im gonna keep recommending this lol would love a reaction to The Prestige. Top tier movie imo

C S

This film terrified me! I can’t watch it alone. I watched it again cause it was with you two 😂

Joey

Another great sci fi thriller you guys should check out is called “Gravity” starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. It camed out in 2013.

Antonio

Cool trivia: the actor Orson Welles used to do a radio show where they would act out radio serials. He once did an adaptation of the H.G. Wells’ book “War of the Worlds” (same book this movie was based on) for radio in 1938 and people listening actually thought it was real and freaked out. It’s a notorious incident.

Shannon

I second the SIGNS recommendation! Amazing movie!

Shannon

There is no way you guy haven’t seen top gun Maverick. (TopGun2) Maybe Tom cruise best movie

TinCan Cosmanaut

The daughter and son in this movie are ---the worst---.

Christopher B.

OMGOSH!! Thank you! I loved watching this movie with you two! ❤️ You are both just the sweetest. I’m bawling like a baby. Today is my 25th wedding anniversary and it just really hit home! On a side note. I grew up on a sailboat from age 7 and this was really scary. Lol. I used to worry about sinking 😬and sharks 🤪.

Merri Nielsen

I saw this at the drive-in when I was probably 11 or 12. It messed me up, for real. Not cause I feared an alien invasion, but because I was convinced we were ripe for an EMP attack. My dad convinced me we'd be cool without electricity cause we lived in the boonies, hunting, fishing, living like it's Little House on the Prarie. I miss him terribly.

Jake Martin

Not to mention a lot of people actually killed themselves out of fear and not wanting to live through the horror described on the radio.

Sean Zaccheo

Guys please consider watching the cornetto trilogy. It’s Shaun of the dead, Hot Fuzz, and The worlds end! They’re all fantastic!

Adam smith

He made the right choice leaving Robby to go get Rachel. Robby is a liability.

coburnsven

Thank you so much for an awesome request! It was super fun watching this one! So glad you enjoyed it with us as well! Have a Happy 4th! ♥️

Asia and BJ

Give Minority Report a try. Also Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise.

Karim

There was a newer War of the Worlds series that came out that I think was originally supposed to be a movie. It was pretty good as well.

Clockwork360

True, Maybe germs are unique to Earth though? If so, maybe they overlooked it as a problem.

Luke Barron

Have to disagree, found NOPE to be a really boring story. Too slow, too much actors staring at each other.

I B v Li K

I always think it's funny that these superior beings didn't figure out germ theory or infrared lol

Matthew

If y'all haven't seen "NOPE" it is so goood!!

Riley

That’s some hate right their.

Ross Johnston

The son always annoyed me in this moving. Always rooting for him to die

Jerry

Asia and BJ, Ross here and I LOVED watching this with y’all. 🍿 When I first saw it, it freaked me the fudge out. I never thought I’d say it, but thank God for bacteria! 😵‍💫 😜 It was great to watch it with y’all and seeing the first time reaction. The soundtrack is intense for me and this was brilliant, built up emotions…soundtrack is so important. I think Steven Spielberg did an amazing job directing this, he creates so many emotions within a short span. I believe that is one of my favorite things about the movie. Excitement, laughter, wtf moments, terrified, anxious…and relief at the end. Thanks so much y’all! I really love your channels!! —Ross ☺️

Ross Johnston

I just noticed that the mechanic on the right at 24:14 is the actor from Sopranos that plays as “Murmur”, Christopher’s friend from AA

Andre Anderson

Have you guys seen The Outsiders? Tom Cruise has a small part in that movie too & it was released in 83’, Born on Fourth of July was 87’

Andre Anderson

47:30 The airplane scene in the niegborhood I've seen in person. The set is at Universal Studios Hollywood where they filmed that scene. Looks just like that. The ride is called "The Train Tour."

Josh

ASIA! BJ! I'm commenting again because I can't help myself & I just finished watching the video. My first comment was BEFORE I started watching the video, but seeing y'all's reaction to this movie, and by pure coincidence seeing SIGNS pop up as a recommendation at the end of the movie for the next one to watch, y'all MUST WATCH IT. I know you hear that all the time, but Signs is a serious THRILLER and the way it inserts you into a situation that seems all too realistic to how it would probably happen (just like War of the Worlds), y'all will love it! You might as well watch it while you're still interested in Sci-fi thrillers/horror movies. Signs trumps this one by a long shot and fate showed it to you at the end of the movie! I'm telling you...if you think War of the Worlds had you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole movie, SIGNS will knock you off of it. It will make your EYES WATER at the pure suspense and build up of the inevitable! The movie intro song alone will have you questioning why you chose to put yourself through this 😂 (yes, you MUST watch it at night like you did for this movie) Fun fact for if you read this far: Joaquin Phoenix in Signs actually mentions "War of the Worlds" in a scene during the movie. He's likely referencing the old novel, but I think it's too much of a coincidence that Signs names War of the Worlds & War of the Worlds suggested Signs to you at the start of the credits. 👽👽👽👽👽

Jason C

I just got out of the hospital, so perfect timing for a good react! Also did you watch Austin Powers 3 and I missed it? Cause that's the only one he was in, unless you're talking about Tropic Thunder? Can't wait for Dexter!!!

Krissy

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but the narration you liked at the beginning, BJ, came from the opening paragraph from the novel 'War of the Worlds' (written by H. G. Wells)

Liz McCarthy-Edwards

Both stars from The Shawshank Redemption had parts in this movie. You recognized Tim Robbins, while the narrator at the beginning and end is Morgan Freeman.

Ludwvin Martinez

The full War of the worlds radio show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzC3Fg_rRJM thanks too, not my fav Tom Cruise movie, but I still enjoyed it :)

SilverDoe🎔

This is a remake of a 1950's classic Sci-Fi movie, which was itself an adaptation of a radio play from the 1938, which in turn was adapted from the H.G. Wells novel from 1897. People mistook the original 1938 play for a real broadcast and huge panic ensued believing New Jersey had been invaded by Martians.

Ludwvin Martinez

Such a great choice to react to!! I remember when I saw it in the theater I was actually sore after it because I held myself so tight and tense throughout the whole movie…I mean it did not stop from beginning to end! I am woefully unprepared for an alien invasion…I wouldn’t last a day! You should look up the original story…back in the days before TV this was broadcast on the radio. It was simply entertainment, but it was read out like reporters were on the scene. Even though they said it was a radio play, MANY people freaked out and thought we were under alien attack for real!! 😂

Mary Merry Berry

This was so fun to see y’all reacting to this classic. I hope one day you watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Lenard Nemoy and Donald Sutherland…Signs with Mel Gibson is another great movie in this genre…

Nuthin Good at 4

I was just gonna suggest that they watch Signs…good call…such an awesome movie…

Nuthin Good at 4

Perfect timing for a Friday evening! First gonna watch HOTD, then War of The Worlds. All I need now is the Titanic announcement 😉. While we’re on Tom Cruise and Sci-Fi, here are two suggestions of my favorite movies of his. “Minority Report” and “Edge of Tomorrow”

Patty Estrada

This is gonna be great thanks :D

Matthew

Peace and Love my A & B family

JJ Carlisle

What a Friday! Thank you Asia & BJ! :) <3

Hyperion

Forgot all about this flick and I cant wait to watch it with y'all! Peace and love A&B fam stay safe this holiday weekend!

Darth Brooks

Rain man(1988) is one of the great feel good storys staring Tom Cruse and Dustin Hoffman that u need to check out, Also one of his earliest films he had a very small role in the outsiders(1983) is one of my favorites with a cast of future big time stars

Lewsifer

I hadn't seen this movie since it came out but it seems more terrifying today than back then. I dunno.

Psoup

Look into the history of this movie. Orson Wells. Back before tv this was on radio. People who turned in late thought it was really going on.

Jesse McAdams

The funniest part of the movie was the grand parents walking out in their nice clean ironed clothes like "what's all this noise going on out here" at the end. Also the red stuff was human blood. The aliens a long time ago "planted" humans to one day return and use humans to transform the planet into their environment. They just didn't plan on bacteria.

Jesse McAdams

This is one of a few adaptations to a sci-fi novel from the 1950s, that was set in the 19th century I believe, the 1890s to be exact The opening and closing narrations were done by none other than Morgan Freeman, who did a magnificent job The passages he recited were straight from the book I believe, with the century being replaced by the 21st to keep in line with the current time

Karl Kraus

In my honest opinion, an even better movie of this genre is "Signs" (2002). I left a movie reaction request on the discord for it about a week ago, should be a few up from the bottom in there. If you guys enjoy this kind of film, Signs does suspense building even better. The cast is great as well! More details there if you're interested. Otherwise, really glad you guys checked this one out! I haven't watched yet, but I will tonight.

Jason C

OK, last comment for this post I promise. lol War of the Worlds was written in 1898. In 1938 they did a reading of the novel on a radio show for CBS, and did not sufficiently warn people that it was just a story. People heard the broadcast, and actually believed that the world was under attack by an alien invasion. People were actually taking to the streets arm with shotguns and rifles, trying to hunt down the aliens, and as I understand it, a few water towers were shot up in the dark by mistake. This was all documented in a movie called The Night That Panicked America. Also, the 1953 version of War of the Worlds is cheesy by today’s standards, but it was one of my favorite movies growing up.

Carl 🐉

Oh, and as far as Tom Cruise goes, you definitely need to check out A Few Good Men and Taps. Two great movies from Tom Cruise they just didn’t get enough credit.

Carl 🐉

If you want more Tom Cruise you can always watch the Mission Impossible movies (all of them, lol). Also, Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Top Gun 1 & 2), Oblivion (2013), Minority Report (2002), A Few Good Men (1992), Legend (1985 and one of my favorites!).

Eddy

Definitely the Wire! Best cop drama, ever thanks to the advisers that they used who were actually Baltimore police officers at one time.

Carl 🐉

Good movie but I hope you finish watching the Star Wars saga pretty soon. You definitely need to watch episode 2, 3 and Rogue One. I wouldn’t waste my time with 7,8 or 9 as they are terrible and not what George Lucas had envisioned at all. But I hear that he is trying to buy the franchise back so that he can fix it. Fingers crossed. Also, while we were on the subject, I really think you would enjoy the Mandalorian.

Carl 🐉

Y’all’s the best funds spent ❤️

SwO Beatz

This was a little wild, but enjoyable.

JL Green

Oh yeah, this is a heavy one! One of Steven Spielberg's underrated efforts More alien movies by him are Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T., which I hope you get to some day

Karl Kraus

Nice, expanding our horizons. ✌🏼and Cheez IT Snap’d here😂

Dan63

Yay! Let's go!!! Thank you guys for uploading. :)

Brenda Galvez

I want to see The Wire and The Usual Suspects.

Dan Rosen

Love this one. Tom Cruise is great in this.

Andrew Clifton

Oh damn i love surprise movies. Thank you guys so much. This made my day which has been awful. Thank you thank you
