Oh, the Johnny cakes! They’re big up here in Rhode Island. Originates from Native American culture but I think they have them in the south too. Hoe cakes.

Yeah, musically that's true. Omar whistling it is one thing, but I think what annoys me is that the lyrics are narrating what you're doing in real time. And idk, that wouldn't bug you? Like, I'd feel like they family guy scene where the fat guy has the tuba sound track lol. The song only stops when you stop eating cake

I mean, it’s the farmer in the dell.🤷♂️ I’ve never heard it either, it must be a silent generation/boomer tradition. Isn’t the chicken dance equally terrible? It’s all the same cheesy shit.

Remember when Walt went on the lam in Breaking Bad, he hid out in New Hampshire. Vito had an eye for making money, so he was a natural at seeing money in things. I don't think the guy in the antique store meant anything other than Vito could see the value in things. Tony made his guy's aware that Vito was the highest earner among them. That was probably a message that they should step up their game, because if they do not earn as much as Vito, a gay man, what kind of man does that make them?

Vito being a natural at antiquing as a gay man is one of the funniest low key jokes on the show IMO

I’m sad the ride is over, but I’m sure there’s more to come. I’ll take a wild guess and say y’all will do Better Call Saul and El Camino, though.

The Vito storyline is based on a real-life gay gangster. The actor who plays Vito is actually the one who suggested it to the higher-ups.

That second episode is so well written. Dr. Melfi challenges Tony to examine his beliefs on homosexuality, and he realizes that he actually doesn't care what consenting adults do with each other. Everything he was saying before about how homosexuality is unacceptable where he comes from, and how he's a strict Catholic (Right. Sure thing, Tony). He was only saying the things that he thinks he's supposed to say because of the way he presents himself to the world. He's done this in many areas of his life, and almost always to maintain an admittedly complicated and often hypocritical facade. From his first session in therapy, he describes himself as playing a part: the sad clown. Laughing on the outside, and crying on the inside, presenting himself in a way that's contrary to who he truly is. While he is an undeniably bigoted man, his prejudices are frequently unexamined beliefs that he does not hold in sincerity, but were foisted upon him by his upbringing and his lifestyle. I love this series so damn much, guys. I miss Gandolfini, too. What an incredible talent this man had. Tony is perhaps the best written character in all of television, and one of the best actors of all time brought him to life.

Something interesting I caught on this time around, in the return of Tony to the back room poker game, he goes on about his ordeal and so on, but in the middle of it Silvio cuts him off and says "here's you coffee Tone" and then the other guy is over his shoulder talking about being his mother's caretaker and Silvio basically tells him to shutup. It's easy to miss, but Silvio is consiglieri, which is #2 position to the boss. His job is to look out for the boss and in this case is watching out for his image. He doesn't want Tony to look weak before the crew and Silvio is trying to prevent that.

Been through a similar situation so I relate to how you feel. It sucks, and it's gonna suck for a while. But keep your head up, mate. At the end of the storm there's always a golden sky. Hug 🤗
