Game of Thrones S7. E1 and E2

Game of Thrones S7. E1 and E2

Comments

To be fair with Theon, jumping ship was his best option, if he had approached Euron would have just slit Yara's throat.

GenericStatue

Theon was understandably scarred by Ramsay (He had extreme PTSD). I originally got PTSD, by being in the passenger's side of someone's car, and the driver of the car, I was in, hit a Coal Truck head-on, going 60 mph, causing me to get my whole lip ripped off of my face, and causing me to get glass embedded in my face. I luckily had an amazing Surgeon, and the scar, is no longer visible, but I always push my foot into the floorboard, like throwing the break on, constantly, when I am riding with someone else But, I got Chronic PTSD, by being in an extremely violent relationship. He hit me eveey day, he kicked me in the ribs, he threw me out of a two-story window, and one night, he kicked me, so hard, repeatedly in the head, that I had blood on my brain for 3 months, and now I have been taking siezure medication for 10 years, becauase the scar tissue in my brain, causes siezures. Everytime, I tried to hide from him, he would find me, at whoever's house I was in, and he would beat up the person. Thank GOD, I got out of that situation alive, but now I associate yelling, with hitting, so if a man raises their voice anywhere around me, I put my hands up, in blocking mode, and freeze. Then, I shake. And, sometimes, it causes me to be in siezure mode. The abuse that I endured, was equivalent, to being in war. As, I cannot even begin to imagine, how bad Theon's PTSD was, because he got tortured physically and mentally...Even had parts of his body skinned and cut off. He had no chance, against Euron anyway, and if he would have stayed on that ship, he would have died, and never been any use to his Sister, Yara.

Erin Black

You are correct. The music never gets old. That is why I kept saying, "Watch the intro"...Lol. You should really get on Youtube and look up "Game of Thrones"s Theme Song, with Scott Ian, Brad Paisley, D.B. Weiss. I don't really know what it is listed under, but it will definately pop up, if you use those words. They made a special Fender guitar, for "Stark', "Targaryen", and "Lannister". This version of the song, is incredible. Someone, left you a link on one of the Episode's Commentary, but I am not sure which one.

Erin Black

I don't know if Daenerys remembers Dragonstone, Her ancestral home, because I am pretty sure that she was still a baby, when she left.

Erin Black

The people running the show, had Ed Sheeran come do a cameo, because Maisie Williams (Arya), is such a huge fan of him. I really like him as a singer as well. He got to sing a song for "The Hobbit" too, which I think is awesome. He got to have a part in one of the most liked Television Series ever...And, in one of the most liked Movie Trilogies ever. (And, both had dragons involved). I think Maisie deserved that surprise. I can't believe I have skimmed down around 30 comments, and did not find a comment about Ed Sheeran, so I quit scrolling, and started typing. And, Sam is doing the dirty work, just like many bosses, make their bottom tier employees do. You have to work yourself up. He is pretty much an Intern, in this Episode. He should have definately been helping, like he was, during the autopsy, because Maesters need to know about the human body...They are like Doctors, but they are intelligent in other areas as well. The more rings, a Maester has on his chain, the more subjucts, he has become an expert in...I know they even have a ring for Alchemy.

Erin Black

You are right. As dispicable as Cersei is, she is definately Gangsta...In the last Episode, she said to herself, "I don't have to worry about getting a bench warrant, for Failure To Appear, because there is nowhere to hold court anymore, and there isn't a Judge or Jury, because I blew it all to smithereens...Ha Ha.". She didn't say it, but you know she wanted to.

Erin Black

"THE NORTH REMEMBERS".

Erin Black

It's portrayed as cowardly, but the fact is, Theon would of lost that fight against Euron *immediately,* and he knew it. The *only* chance he had to save his sister was to dip out. If Theon got killed Yara would of never made it.

Bob

But he is a coward... I'm not a horse but I know it's a horse. Did the same thing happen to you? My condolences.

Rich

Theon jumps off the ship scared to save his sister --- Asia says: "You are lyin" ---- Haha I'm dead

Jah (jakwiq) (Jah Quick)

Come on! Even you can agree that Theon didn't got any balls to go against Euron...

Veli-Jussi Hirvonen

I'll never quite get over the gall of people sitting on comfortable couches, with little-to-no weekly exercising, calling Theon a coward, as if they would not be even more so, given the circumstances... Please

Jacob Guenther

Sam was being hazed. #period

Fallon Hall

John Snow is a Targarian and a Stark. Not sure if you guys missed that or not. Also, Westeros is not a city, it's a continent.

One of the duties of Maesters was medical treatment and watching and assisting with the autopsy was part of Sam’s training.

Cynthia M Farrington

Yes, Sam is low man on the totem pole, so to speak, so he has the worst job. The way they showed the food looking like “what comes out the other end” was a stroke of genius for emphasizing just how disgusting the job was for Sam.

Cynthia M Farrington

I really don’t remember but my guess is that Yuron Greyjoy’s gift is Tyrion Lannister. Cersei still believes that Joffrey was killed by Tyrion and Sansa. And Tyrion did kill Tywin and is helping Danaerys.

Cynthia M Farrington

Nymeria (Arya's wolf) escaped into the woods when they were on the Kingsroad to Kings Landing in season 1 iirc. In the books it's a little more of a thing because Arya has dreams where she wargs into her wolf sometimes. It's such a bittersweet moment. Happiness that Arya's direwolf is still alive and leading a pack, sadness that Nymeria (much like Arya herself) has become a little too wild and independent to ever really return to the way things were before this mess all started.

Hannah Brown

I was dying when BJ said they need some Lysol after showing Sam’s crappy (pun intended) daily chores. Someone in the comments mentioned how they liked seeing Arya meeting up with Hot Pie again. I alwYs think the same thing when I see that. A sweet friendship and even though not a big part, I like Hot Pies character. I always adored him making her the bread in the shape of a wolf. And…. It’s good to see the wolf showing on top of the Winterfell castle in the opening credits again. Ned and Cat would be so proud.

Pink Martini AZ

So right!

Krissy

Why did Bran have to lose his personality to become the three eyed raven? That really upset me my first time watching the series lol. Even the old raven had more emotion in a few episodes than bran did for the rest of the series after he became the raven

Payton W Harbour

Also she was serving Roose Bolton at Haranhal and not Tywin. I prefer her and Tywin’s banter to anything she could have had with Roose.

Michael King

In the books Arya is also a Warg and would have "wolf dreams" like Bran, seeing through Nymeria's eyes.

Jerry

Daenerys arriving at dragonstone will always be my favorite scene of the entire show...never fails to give me goosebumps!!

Misagirl81

It was Sansa's wolf, Lady that was killed. That was Arya's wolf, Nymeria. She threw rocks at her and told her to run away, back when she bit Joffrey. And I honestly believe that Theon did the right thing by jumping overboard. If he had tried to rescue Yara right then, there's no doubt that they would both be dead right now. He lived to fight another day, for him AND Yara.

Krissy

Benioff and Weiss were really done with it and wrapped it up waaaaaay too quickly. They wanted to jump to a Star Wars project. Of course, GOT season 7 and definitely season 8 was so horrific, they lost out on that Star Wars job. Production was amazing as always, but the writing was god awful.

Time Out Humanity

Absolutely!

Gary David Holbrook

Grey Worm and Missandei had the room silent with all that hot cocoa love 😂😆

Karim

Yes. That's why I stopped reading at book 4. The show was different and it was too confusing. My husband just informed me that book 5 wasn’t published in time and that was the reason they improvised the writing for the show. George RR Martin still hasn’t finished book 6.

Cynthia M Farrington

Just something to keep in mind if it hasn't been said: seasons 5 or so and beyond are not based on actual source material. They're purely D&D canon (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss).

tkitez

All the Stark wolves aren't dead.

Wayne Polk

Aryas wolf was sent away in the very beginning of the show after biting Joffrey. One of the wolves had to die in return for biting Joffrey and Arya sent her away in order to protect her. The wolf that ended up dying was Sansa’s wolf named Lady. This was aryas wolf that comes to her

Adam smith

You guys need to rect to the Fender Guitar video with the music writers of the GOT music score playing custom guitars made by Fender in studio with 6 other guitar gods playing the theme song. https://youtu.be/6i0a7RDPkM8

IRLEPL

The only ones on the ship were Theon, his sister, and their sailors, along with the queen of Dorne and her daughters.

Chris Marrero

I was a little disturbed at you rooting for the sand snakes. They really had that coming. Nymeria was the smartest of the Dire Wolf pups. She realized hanging around with the Starks was a bad idea.

Mr Jackpots

That was so great…seeing you guys realizing what was going on at the Frey’s was awesome! A lot of people don’t like season 7 (and my favorite will always be season 6), but I really enjoyed it. Just these two episodes had plenty of twists and turns! Winter is here!

Mary Merry Berry

Arya set her wolf Nymeria(seen leading her own pack in this episode) free in season one, after her kerfluffle with Joffrey. Cersi then ordered Sansa's wolf Lady killed. Rob's wolf Grey Wind was killed at the Red Wedding, Brandon's wolf Summer and Rickon's wolf Shaggy Dog were both killed last season. Jon's wolf Ghost is the only other wolf still alive.

Mark E. Challoner

Daenerys was born on DragonStone. She's home

Josh

Arya meeting up with Hot Pie again was so wholesome. And the Hound isn’t nearly as bad a person as he thinks. He’s messed up, for sure. But he’s also spent a good deal of his time keeping both Sansa and Arya alive.

Melissa

Just like Arya, Nymeria was born to be free and not the life of “captivity”. For Arya, the captivity of the life Ned envisioned for her. Wife to a Lord. For Nymeria, domesticated life.

Michael King

ARYA 👏👏👏

Stephen Blair

Hey! This is great insight. I hadn’t thought of that (or seen anyone else mention it).

Sivan

Asia is right. The city u didn't recognize on the map is "Oldtown." Where Sam is

Josh

Bj, Westeors is the continent they're on. It's where Kings Landing, Winterfell, DragonStone, Knight Watch, and Dorne are at. Daenery's was on the other continent called Essos

Josh

I see I'm about the 10th person to explain this! 😁

Kimberly Tyda

The direwolf, Nymeria, was Arya's wolf that she made run away in season one. The wolf that Ned killed because of Robert's command was Sansa's wolf, Lady. That's why they were so enraged over what happened back in season 1.

Arlan McKee

Nymeria was Arya's direwolf. She set her free in the woods to save her life after Nymeria bit Joffrey. Cersei had Sansa's wolf Lady killed in Nymeria's place.

Kimberly Tyda

Nymeria is Arya’s wolf that she sent away after the Joffrey and butcher boy incident. Lady was Sansa’s wolf that was killed as punishment.

Jan A

I was waiting for this upload, thanks! Westeros is not a city, it's a continent. Most of the story takes place in Westeros, and it's where Kings Landing, Dragonstone, Winterfell, Highgarden, Riverrun, the Iron Islands, The Vale, and Casterly Rock are located. The places and parts of the story that don't take place in Westeros, take place in Essos. The continent to the east separated from Westeros by the Narrow Sea. It's where most of Daenerys's story takes place, until she gets to Dragonstone of course. It's where Arya was at when she was in Braavos training with the faceless men, and it's also where the Dothraki are from. There are still two direwolves left. Ghost, who is Jon's wolf, and Nymeria, who is Arya's wolf. Arya released her in the first season after she attacked Joffrey, which is why they killed Sansa's wolf Lady instead.

Patty Estrada

He jumped because he got triggered with his PTSD. Remember Breaking Bad? Remember hank after getting that call from Gus saying the twins were coming? And he froze? Same deal. Theon had problems before hand, fair, but the inaction there was his brain having a flashback to ramsey -- peep the editing on the nastiness of the violence. He simply couldn't deal. It's no different in actual wars -- some dudes are ride and die, others are more sensitive -- and every shade between. Theon's abuse was exceptional. If it were today, he might need permanent in-patient care. He's that bad off. When he was saying that stuff to Yara about having her back, he meant it. I honestly feel that. I just think all of that happening again (rightfully) freaked him out. I know it seems cowardly, but that's why we need more awareness about trauma and PTSD in general. Fight the stigma! It robs people of their agency -- Theon went away in that moment, mentally and physically. All of that work he was doing on becoming theon again got slammed and he had a regression. For theon it's probably going to be a permanent thing. Back when PTSD first was becoming widely recognized in WW1, the French would execute soldiers for battle cowardice -- keep in mind this is the first time in 100 years europe has seen general conflict -- and when 1914 hits? Boy how much shit changed. We got grenades, machine guns, barbed wire, tanks and airplanes now! When it was the first year, whole units of dudes would just get destroyed by machine gun fire -- they started off fighting in formation like the civil war. The constant artillery fire broke men, and you can see footage from the 1930s and 1940s of dudes still in French hospitals shaking like they got parkinsons. I wouldn't say those dudes are cowards. It just happens like any disease -- some people get it, some don't and you can just try to manage and mitigate risk.

Potato Jones

Thank you for taking the time to explain that Brandon! Hope your day is going awesome!! ❤️

Asia and BJ

There’s a parallel of when Sansa walked out of the Kennels smiling as the dogs ripped up Ramsay Bolton, and when Arya walked out smiling as House Frey lay dying on the floor.

Michael King

Yaaaay! I really hope that you will jump right into House of dragon next while some of these characters are kind of fresh in your mind. It's only one season so far

Michelle C

Arya saying to Nymeria that’s not you is a reference back to Season 1 episode 4. Ned was telling Arya someday she would be a lady and she said that’s not me. Nymeria has her own pack and freedom she doesn’t want to go back to living in captivity with Arya. She can be free to find new adventures with her pack. There are 11 episodes left. As they wrap up the story they reference a lot of things that happened in season 1. Thank you for watching the recap! It is much appreciated ❤️

I❤️movies&tvshows

Jon Snow’s wolf ghost is the last Direwolf. Some people call John the White wolf as a nickname for that reason

I❤️movies&tvshows

Aria's wolf remained unharmed. When her wolf bit Joffrey, Aria intervened by throwing a rock at her and shooing her away, instructing her to leave. The wolf that Ned killed belonged to Sansa. Upon discovering Aria's wolf missing, King Robert inquired about its whereabouts, and Cersi informed him that the other wolf was still in their possession. Consequently, Robert issued the order to have Sansa's wolf killed instead.

Rick LaRue

Nymeria was Arya's direwolf. When Arya and the "butchers boy" was play fighting, Joffrey stepped in and started to attack the "butchers boy" - then he went after Arya - Nymeria came to protect her from Joffery by biting his arm. Arya knew that Nymeria would be killed for this, so she chased her into the woods - letting her go free. The direwolf that got killed for hurting Joffery was Lady (Sansa's wolf). All the Stark kids + Jon Snow had one direwolf each. Now it's only Jon Snows wolf left, Ghost. :)

Monnisnah

Did he Jump off the Ship? :p

Hesketh

Well the countries you mentioned are very westerosi. Spain, Portugal, and North Africa are more apt. Even though some of them skew south. They have more of the Essos vibe.

Michael King

Lol, uh oh. Well, I won’t say anything but good luck.

Michael King

My favs! Thanks 😊

Angela Leaphart

The last place shown on the map in the opening is Old Town, where Sam and Gilly are.

Cynthia M Farrington

“The doodies of a maester.” I see what you did there.

Travysaurus Rex

Absolutely, the Direwolf is the sigil of House Stark.

Gary David Holbrook

I never finished watching this series years ago, so these last few season with you guys have been first time watches. So fun!

JessicaB

I think that when Aria used the metaphor of the wolf as she poisoned the Freys, she was talking about herself.

Cynthia M Farrington

Geographically speaking, just think of Great Britain as being Westeros, and the Eastern coast of mainland Europe (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark) as being Essos. The English Channel can be the Narrow Sea. The actual GoT map of Westeros/Essos is very loosely based on that same actual Great Britian/East Europe layout.

Gary David Holbrook

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just when I thought I was going to have to look for something interesting to watch tonight, my girl Asia and my boy B.J. came through for me! Y'all rock!

Joanie Archetto

Squeeeeee! Now I don't have to finish laundry!

Rose Dallman

Westeros is the whole area on the Western side of the Narrow Sea. It’s not a city. It’s more like a continent. Essos is the continent East of the Narrow Sea.

Cynthia M Farrington

I was sort of noticing in past episodes but I was sure. But now I know for sure. You aren’t sure what Westeros is. Westeros is most of the land that the show takes place in. All the Seven Kingdoms. It’s the big island. King’s Landing is the capital. Winterfell in the north, Dorne in the south. All the other kingdoms, ie. Riverrun, Dragonstone, the Aerie, etc in the middle. Probably what’s north of the wall too. It doesn’t include Essos which is the area Danaerys has been in and where Arya got her Faceless Man training. Westeros is like a country and the kingdoms are like cities and suburbs. Kind of. So when Danaerys says she’s going to conquer Westeros and take back what belongs to her family she’s talking about the whole pie. She wants what Cersei currently has.

Brandon Mason

Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
