Most people think that Uncle Benjen, is half White Walker, because The Children of the Forest, plunged the shard of dragonglass through his heart. The dragonglass, kept him from turning into a wight, but it also made it to where, he couldn't pass The Wall, due to the magic, that was within The Wall, keeping White Walkers out. Man, I wish I has Drogon. It would solve all of my problems.

Gilly doesn't even know where Sam, her boyfriend, and Father to her Son, stabbed the White Walker, while he was killing, to save her and Little Sam's life. Or, it is possible, that the writers got it wrong. It's even sadder, if the writers, messed it up, because it is a pretty easy thing to remember. Sam didn't stab the White Walker in the heart, or any part of the chest. Sam stabbed him, in the Scapula Shoulder Blade, on the backside). So Gilly, or the writers got this completely backwards...Literally (No Pun Intended). I remember that, and I had a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury.

Yeah, HBO had the green light, to make at least 3 more Seasons, which they should have done for the fans, and themselves, instead of cramming in everything so close together. Plus, the people (Writers, Directors, Producers, Cast, etc.), could have made a ton of extra money. The budget for "Game if Thrones", was $1 Million-$6 Million, per Episode, for the first 5 Seasons, $10 Million, per Episode, for Seasons 6 & 7, and $15 Million, per Episode, for Season 8. However, that is nothing, in comparison, to the "Rings of Power" budget. Their budget for the First Season, containing only 8 Episodes, was between $100 Million & $150 Million, and they are expecting the budget to hit $1 Billion, by the time all 8 Seasons, containing 8 Episodes each, is finished...Meaning it will be the biggest budget in Television history. It is crazy, to think about, how much money is spent on Entertainment. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly like these shows, because it helps me get through my days of being stuck in bed, with Chronic Pain.

The "Game of Thrones" budget, was between $1 Million and $6 Million per Episode, for the first 5 Seasons, $10 Million per Episode, for Seasons 6 and 7, and $15 Million per Episode, for Season 8. That's nothing compared to the budget for "Rings of Power" on Amazon Prime. That show is about "The Second Age" of Middle Earth, which is a Prequel to "Lord of the Rings", and The "Hobbit". It' budget is between $100 Millon and $150 Million per Season, and there is going to be 8 Seasons. It is likely to eventually exceed $1 Billon, making it the most expensive television show, ever created. One Season of "Rings of Power" had the budget, of the entire 8 Seasons of "Game of Thrones"...That's pretty crazy.

They've shown that Bran can affect things in time...like when he shouted at his father and his father turned around...cuz he heard it. So, basically, Hodor has been saying that his entire life because Bran broke his brain right then and there...it's weird wibbly wobbly timey whimey kinda stuf.

He had no idea what his fate was. he would have grown up a normal stable boy if braN hadn't used his psionic abilities when he traveled back to the past and pretty much destroyed poor hodur. mind because he spazzed out with his abilities and crushed odurs mind by screaming for him to hold the door. don't try to unravel the time paradox. Star Trek has been trying for decades lol
1. bran crashed his mind by trying to control the future hodor while he was in the past and that would mean all poor hodur knew was the words hold the door blasted into his mind.
2.bran had to use the past hodur as a conduit to interact with the future hodor. Again crushing his mind in the process. either way bran did not know the outcome so all poor hodor got was a lifetime of stupidity and a single word vocabulary.
to sum up:
Bran is a `Bleep`

At one point after Bran sees Hodor/Willis as a teen and hears him talk. Bran asked him inside the tree what happened to him. Hodor answers softly and with the inflection of a question. Hodor? Almost as if he is saying "you should know what happened ". His after that seizure/episode, he new the rest of his life what his fate was. Heartbreaking

Gonna go out on a limb and say the GoT religion arc owes more to those "different parts of history" than to the wars of the roses. Yes, the primary conflict is between royal families, but I don't think the sparrow arc is solely there in service of the inter-family competition narrative.
Hannah Brown
2023-05-17 17:38:36 +0000 UTC
True. I can see that -- I remember seeing that somewhere, actually. For this season religion is pretty major, so that's all I was getting at by drawing the comparison.
Potato Jones
2023-05-17 14:29:17 +0000 UTC
Actually, George RR Martin himself said that even though he was inspired by different parts of history, his foundation is loosely based on the War of the Roses (1455-85); the House of York vs. the House of Lancaster. This conflict was between two royal families, and was not necessarily about religion.
Gary David Holbrook
2023-05-17 12:09:39 +0000 UTC
I really like how this ties in to real history. So many kingdoms and empires get destroyed through religion. Not saying that to bash religion -- but more that religion is often the start of many wars and civil wars that lead to society reforming in major ways.
It's this entire new field of power, seperate from the crown.
If you were alive in the 1700s, it would be called the "Nobility of the Sword (think the lanisters, starks, etc)" vs "Nobility of the Robe" The robe would be your high sparrow and anyone else plugged in with religious power. Even back then political thinkers were aware that the church was kinda...weird. It can be either your best friend or worst enemy.
In terms of the closest thing we have in real life to something like this, I would argue, is the protestant reformation in the 1500s or whatever. Everyone was christian (like everyone went from kinda believing in the seven sept here in GOT) but then it got real extreme real fast (The protestants were basically calling everyone else frauds and not real believers). I think every country in europe was at one kind of war or another at that time.
Crazy how an argument over different approaches to the same stuff can creep along and just completely level everything.

Willis (hodor) didn’t know. It was just like when bran was able to affect his father outside the keep “somebody” was in. His father heard him, even though for Ned his son wasn’t born yet. It’s supposed to be a mindfu€k. It was only because bran was in THAT dream when the army of the dead attacked. So it turned out to be “written” that those events would happen for Hodor, and it turned out to be that way all along. It’s very noble to imagine that he knew all along his fate, but not realistic because as we’ve seen, hodor is a big old softy coward.

If you look at past seasons, even though they might not have OFFICIALLY owned the iron throne, you have people like Tywin and The High Sparrow who were actually the defacto person who sits on the iron throne, sometimes figuratively. The high sparrow was the most conspicuous while being a hypocrite. To us, but obviously not the rabble. As he said, “when the few stop fearing the many. . .” That’s bad for the few. Everyone else’s motivations were clear, but the high sparrow is probably the most annoying. The most effective, unfortunately, but also the most annoying.

I want to point out one thing that you've probably already started to notice. As we get closer to the end the episodes ramp up the timelines. In Season 1 it took forever for them to get to Kings Landing from Winterfell. Now it's like a snap of the fingers. This is my personal opinion but I think this was done to portray the urgency. It moves so fast you're left breathless. There are other theories out there regarding it but that's my humble opinion. So, um, please put your trays in the upright position, buckle up and hold on tight. Shits about to get bumpy.
Oh! BJ, I saw you made a small prediction about Daenerys. Care to stick by it? Will she be the one left standing, well technically sitting, on the throne? If not, who?

I saw the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend, and it was amazing! I’m not gonna lie and say I didn’t shed a couple of tears 😂. I thought of you Asia when they played the main theme. Seeing and hearing the orchestra play the music to the most important scenes, live, was epic. Like the Hodor/Hold The Door moment, the music to that scene is so beautiful, I couldn’t help but cry (like I did the first time I watched that scene). I’m so excited for you to get to certain parts of the rest of the series. It also made me sad though, to think that you’ll almost be done with it 😢 lol. Oh and yes, the budget for the show was pretty big, especially during the last seasons. The show was so popular, that HBO said here’s all the money lol.

The children of the forest meant “men like you” as in humankind, not necessarily special “men” like Bran. It’s a critique of humankind to destroy anything different than themselves. Same reason for why people in the beginning were so keen on killing the Stark dire wolves whenever the opportunity comes around. “A dire wolf is no pet, get ‘‘em a dog…” -King Bobby B.
Michael King
2023-05-16 03:40:44 +0000 UTC
The area where the children of the forest shoved the dragon glass into the heart of the man to make the white walkers, that’s the area where in an earlier episode, a bunch of the knights watch brothers and their horses were dismembered and arranged in a spiral in that coldest area. Like the spiral of the stones in that scene. So you can see it used to be green and beautiful with that werewood tree, now everything is frozen over like the men turned to white walkers. I think they called it “The Fist of the First Men”.

The High Sparrow is the most evil character in this whole series and he revealed that in episode 6. If he really was the big holy dude he pretended to be, he would not have let Marjory off the hook for any reason. He did that to get control of the King and defeat Jaime, Cersei, and the Tyrells. He's fake and he's definitely playing the game of thrones with the rest of them.

I see it as Bran warging into hodor while inside a vision basically melted his brain and turned him simple.. and because the ink of the past is already dry as the three eyed raven said, it was destined to happen. What ever happened in the past (even Bran meddling from the future) cannot be changed. It was this simple mindedness that allowed Bran to warg into him in the first place, I dont buy that he had any notion of what his fate was going to be.

Since no one has said it yet, I guess it has to be me ☺️ “Not all superheroes wear capes, some just Hold The Door” RIP Willis aka Hodor. What a loyal person. It’s crazy because he knew his entire life what his fate was, it probably played over and over in his mind, what would happen to him and he still stood by Starks and served Bran till the end and was there to fulfill his duty to Hold That Door and help Bran escape. Remember in the past flashbacks that Bran was watching, when Lyanna and Ned were gonna have Willis train with Benjin and Willis’s (hodor’s) mother came and took him away saying “he’s not a knight he’s a stable boy and that’s all he will ever be” or something like that. Well I beg to differ, he was more loyal than any other knight to walk that land. Just like Brienne, just loyal to a fault.

So guys, I won't pretend to be an expert on the whole "Hold the door/ Hodor" thing, but I understood it like this: Bran, without realizing it beforehand, linked those two separate moments in time by using his abilities as the Three-Eyed Raven. Bran lost control of his powers, and he was unable to wake so he couldn't leave that moment in time where he was standing in the courtyard at Winterfell with his father. Realizing what he must do, he wargs into Hodor's past self (Wyllis) to gain control of Hodor's present self so he could hold the door closed, allowing him (Bran) and Meera to escape. When he did that, it caused Hodor's past self to have a seizure as his present self held the door, inextricably connecting those two moments in time. Clear as mud, right? 😆 that's just my armchair analysis though

Bran caused that to happen to Hodor. he was inside Hodors head making him hold the door but also at the same time back in the past. it caused a connection to happen which is why hodor saw bran in the flashback before he collapsed. Bran made him Hodor.
