All of the actors who played the main teachers (except the first Dumbledore, Snape, and Hagrid) are still with us as far as I know. At the very least, Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Warwick Davis, Miriam Margoyles, David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Kenneth Brannagh, Ian Hart, Imelda Staunton, Emma Thompson, and Jim Broadbent are all still alive.

Also, as you've almost certainly learned by now: yes, David Bradley (Argus Filch in these movies) also played Walder Frey in Game of Thrones. Great reaction as always, and I look forward to the rest of this series.

I'm sure she would have felt nervous and intimidated leading up to her first term. It's mentioned in the books that she read all of her textbooks before school even started.

Can't say I liked Hermione much in first one due to her being a know it all and master spell caster right off the bat. She had same up bringing with muggles as Harry did, so her knowledge was far-fetched so early on. Plus in the movies she steals a lot of Ron's lines from the books for some reason.

Remember his last role in a movie was Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator. By that time his voice was just a whisper. He died shortly after.

I was slightly older than the target audience when the books came out and only got around to reading the first one before the movies started being released. People who’ve read the books will give you a lot of useful insights that didn’t make it into the movies. I like all of these movies but I personally find that I got more into the story later into the series. I think you will both enjoy it as well. Alan Rickman, who plays Professor Snape, is one of my all-time favorite actors. He is so unique, and I enjoy every character I’ve seen him play. Sadly, he passed away in 2016 after a battle with cancer that few people were aware of, including many of his fellow cast members in these movies. He’s still missed. ❤️

The characters you will meet along the way are sooooo awesome! They'll be friends and enemies to Harry, some of which will have something to do with Harry's past, as well as making his Hogwarts family grow bigger and closer together

The books were so magical and they did a good job trying to capture that in the movies. I love this one because of three reasons. 1) they are so little and cute 2) it’s colorful and bright. I HATE the other films having those dreary blue filters. I can’t stand those blue, green and brown filters on any movie. And 3) I loved Richard Harris as Dumbledore. Better than the other actor.

The adaptation looked flawless! It was Thanksgiving 2001 when it did get released, when I was 7 and I saw it in Florida with family while visiting my grandparents and the only image I remember seeing was Voldemort's disembodied head getting revealed on top of Quirrell's The books were my top favorites when I was in school and I would read them and re-read every chance I got! Next to Star Wars, Harry Potter was my childhood!

We took him to Warner Bros studios in London and he got to walk up Diagon alley where Harry got his wand from and stand outside Privet drive but the castle is stunning. Loved your reaction to this, can't wait for the next. Thank you for making me smile! It was much needed :) They do start to get darker, but its so worth the ride! Adults absolutely love it as much as kids do for good reason!

I read a lot as a kid, in part because that was still a viable form of entertainment pre-internet we know now lol. Always preferred the books to the movies, mainly because they're able to go so much deeper into things... but the movies are at the end of the day a pretty amazing adaptation of the books, and brought to life the amazing world that JK had created for us. Can't even count how many times I've rewatched this series, more than happy to do it again lol.

My dad would get so frustrated because as he said "We just bought you that damn thing" and he really couldn't be too upset because I was in fact doing something productive in reading. It wasn't always easy for them to buy me those books. But they always made it happen!
