IT (1990)

Comments

He's nowhere near Tim Curry lol stay off the weeeeeed

Coolio

I'm lmao cuz I really do have a loud as dryer that is on its last leg and I'm just waiting for the day it goes out completely 😅

Keyuana Gray

Please watch the 2017 film. Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise has became a new horror icon just as much as Tim Curry. And it's way more creepy

Daniel Allen

Don't forget Carrie, Christine, and Gerald's Game!

Wendy Garner

Y'all ain't realize Mike was the dad from Sister Sister 🤦🏿‍♂️

Coolio

It will be a good idea to watch the lastest IT movies ! The 1990's movie has adapted just a part of the book. Many part were skipped or just mentionned but it was explaine in details in the books. Even if the big picture is the same, the recent movies adapted other part that wasn't cover in the first and they don't focus on the same point of view.

I'm not a huge Stephen King fan as I find lot of have too many lulls in them. I still say out of the two movies The Things is a better movie. Maybe, it's because clowns don't scare me, but The Thing is suspense you can cut with a knife though out and deep paranoia too. So hope you do that one at some point.

Michael Paddon

new one i thought was way scarier especially in theaters

Deavon Richards

When I was a kid, my parents loved teasing me when this was on. I hated this movie because it was so scary to me. I got over my fear when I was in my teens, and I love rewatching it for the nostalgia. Thank you so much for watching this version!

Potato Jones

I like this version because it’s dated. Has an old school made-for-tv movie vibe. All the 80s/90s character actors. And Tim Curry plays creepy so well,Thanks for the show!

Free Bowl of Soup

Oh the new movies are so much better, but there is something so nostalgic about watching this... :-) It is my favorite book by King, and while nothing has ever come close to the horror that is within that book, this miniseries and the two movies are certainly a worthy watch. Even if it is for different reasons. Thanks for the watch!

Perry Taliaferro

My dad's n brothers name was George lol 😂😂😂🤨🤔🧐

PatiMeltz

Not me so irritated that Stan “heard” a Cardinal but “saw” a woodpecker. Watch Clue. I’m a birder…

Amy Silknitter

Memories, my goodness !.... Night court n 3s company n John-boy( good night John boy) ... Maan Im glad your doing this one first ... It helps with the next one I think .. I was more scared of this one than the 2017 honestly

PatiMeltz

Steven King bases all his supernatural powers on actual good and evil. The scene where the kids are building the dam or riding the bike reminds us of ordinary good childhood memories. They have supernatural power in the story. Just like the evil is based on real evil child abuse, bullying, racism. That's what makes his stories so powerful. We can all identify.

s8150f

Love actor Seth Green as Ritchie .

MichelleMyBell

RIP John Ritter who played the grown up Ben and RIP Johnathan Brandis who played Bill as a kid 🙏

MichelleMyBell

You two want also a good psychological thriller watch Gothika made in 2003 starring Halle Berry. I think you two will like it. 🙂 maybe put that in the next poll and see if it wins after you do the It reactions . 🙏🙂❤️.

MichelleMyBell

They knew about the Lone Ranger. Why didn't they just make silver bullets?

Mr Jackpots

He's going down there..........I wouldn't.

Mr Jackpots

Yes Eddie died

Dawn

Lisa Chaffins

The reason Audra snapped out of in the end, the reason the silver earrings worked or the inhaler, the reason they at first didn't remember and the adults didn't see the blood or balloons, is about belief and faith. Children are so pure and innocent which is why they believed. Adults hearts grow cynical and they lose a little faith each day as they get older. They were able to defeat "It" is because they shared a special bond...it's the ties that bind and their love and loyalty to each other. Their love was stronger than the fear "It" fed on. Hold strong to the ones that love you because they'll be the ones who will always be there no matter what comes. I love yall 💗

Lisa Chaffins

Tim Curry is such an amazing talent. Otherwise I would never had watched this the 1st time.

MamaKat114

I read the book so y'all don't have to (it's like over a thousand pages). The spider is actually what IT is. He came to earth back before the dinosaurs and crash landed in Derry. Stephen King was inspired by the Call of Cthulu from H.P Lovecraft. In the Lovecraft books, the monsters are so crazy -- so extra -- so hard to understand that humans can't look at them. If a human looks at Cthulu, it drives them insane instantly. That's why for IT you only see what you want to see, and if you look at the spider when its at full power, it will erase your mind. In the newer movies, they get into that part of the books slightly more, so I won't say more than that.

Potato Jones

I much prefer this version over the newer one. It was made as a TV mini-series of 5 episodes. Two of those episodes were written by Stephen King, so he made sure they got it right. Many of his books have been butchered by Hollywood screenwriters, notably The Shining. He never forgave what Stanley Kubrick did to that masterpiece of a book. I love the cast of this version and the way they didn't lose sight of the message in the book, which is found in a lot of Stephen Kings books. The true monsters are human and not the supernatural creatures infesting the world. Derry is a fictional town in Maine which has so many problems, the worst being the people that live there. Of King's stories, 24 are set in Derry.

Mr Jackpots

Some other decent adaptations are Dolores Clabourne, 1408, The Shining, the sequel Doctor Sleep, Cat’s Eye, The Running Man, Cujo, Pet Sematary, Secret Window, Silver Bullet, Dreamcatcher

Michael King

The remakes are good. They actually have a bit in chapter 2 about how the screenwriter laments everyone says he always has terrible endings. There are some other decent adaptations. The Green Mile is one, though I think the ending of that goes on a little too long. The Mist is great, but TERRIBLE ending. Of course Shawshank has a GREAT ending.

Michael King

Tim Curry is the reason I love this version! I haven't seen the 2017 version and might not ever unless I watch with a reactor. I am almost always disappointed with Stephen King adaptations. There is just something about his stories that they just can't seem to really get right in the movies, with a couple exceptions, like (IMO) Carrie and Misery. I wasn't crazy about this one either, but I do love Tim Curry as Pennywise!

TheGuy

I think they did both and will be releasing the 2017 reaction soon.

Stacey Capito

I really like this version, especially the relationship between the kids. I know it's dated and cheesy, but it has a lot of heart. To me the remakes sacrifice the story in favor of jump scares. And Tim Curry as Pennywise is LEGEND! In the book It's real physical form is impossible for the human mind to process, so It takes the form of a giant spider because it's the closest thing. None of the movies does a good job with the monster imo.

Schoolof HardKnocks

BAhahaa I voted for the 2017 one because this one- well just plain and simple- never scared me. Still didn’t lol but still good entertainment. We All Float Down Here.

Lee Stephenson

I thought we were voting for the 2017 IT but this one brought back memories.

Russ

I’m nostalgic about this miniseries, mostly because of Tim Curry. We have to remember though that it came out in 1990 and aired on ABC so they were very limited in the kinds of things they could show. It is reasonably true to the book though. Honestly just read the book lol

MumofZack

Yes I endorse this comment! Clue is one of my favorites!

Elizabitty213

Yeah, I thought for sure a true classic would shine through.

Michael King

It's been years since I've seen this. The dialog and acting (besides Tim Curry) was so cringey! I think it got pretty bad reviews when it came out. Still bummed that this edged out The Thing in your poll!! 😕

Kimberly Tyda

Agree! I hope they watch The Thing soon, since the poll was so close.

Kimberly Tyda

Other than Salem's Lot and a set of his short stories aired as Nightmares and Dreamscapes, I feel like Stephen King's adaptations have all been theatrical releases. but maybe I'm forgetting one?

Renee S

Now that you’ve seen Tim Curry, you have to do CLUE, which is a comedy. I’m going to watch this with you tonight whilst I drink heavily so I’m not too scared. I’ve never seen it.

Amy Silknitter

Tim Curry is also in the movie Legend (1986) which I recommend watching the theatrical version. He plays Lord of Darkness, young Tom Cruise is also in this movie as well as Mia Sara.

Eddy

The core of the story, imo is childhood bonds, the reality there? Even childhood bonds that deep can sadly be forgotten and overcoming bullies, facing your fears (you were right BJ) and defeating them and if you can believe in something? Its possible, just like Audra and the bike and the silver earrings. And yes. Eddie did die. The difference between this clown and the 2017 one is this IS the classic clown. Clowns scare a lot of people, and IT literally feeds off your fears. Clowns and Spiders scare so many people so, they can relate. This version as well is more psychological and practical affects, rather than CGI and gore. It depends if you prefer CGI to Practical as well. Yes, it has cheesy lines, but the book is more controversial than both versions. Of course NEITHER added that for good reason (Not just made for TV wise, film wise too) Tim definitely makes the movie. I'm so glad you reacted to this one first. Original vs remake is always going to generate strong views. (Gotta love those 90s ponytails lmao) 🤣🤣This, Firestarter and Carrie are great classics imo by King. I've missed you guys doing horror lol

SilverDoe🎔

Stand by me is another movie to check out base on a Stephen King book

Lewsifer

Gonna try and make it through and hope nostalgia can keep me awake to see ya'lls reaction. I know one thing, Asia and Bj never gonna walk by a sewer drain the same again 😂. Can't wait for the 2017 version, peace and love A and B fam!

Darth Brooks

As wonderful as this was, the real tragedy is that The Thing wasn’t the winner, lol. I don’t understand how IT took Thing.🥴 The Thing is a masterpiece

Michael King

As good as the 90s mini series is, its like a disney film compared to 2017. And it chapter 1 and 2 had more running time for the story than the mini series as a whole.

Fattydoe

I’m glad you guys realized that this version is only good because of Tim Curry’s performance. The rest of it is all messed up. The spider lives in infamy of just. . . why?. Stephen king has a reputation for bad endings, lol. And in the new, better version of this movie, they have a reference to that. Stephen king has some of the greatest stories ever written, and for decades most of his works were made into lame “made for tv movies” mostly for TNT and TBS. They’ve recently started to redo a lot of his classics that didn’t get the proper treatment. This version is. . .ok. Lots of people have nostalgia about it, but you’re gonna have an experience with the new ones, mmmmmmmmmhuahahhahahahahaha!!! Let’s go!!!!

Michael King

1990's TV was definitely not like to today. They had to cut way back on some of the more adult themes and violence. Never would have made it by the censors. Not even talking about Pennywise, Henry and his gang aren't nearly as scary as they were in the book. Bev's dad was a lot creepier. The pharmacist wasn't exactly a nice guy to Eddie, etc. It had to be done as a the 2 part R rated film to come close to doing the book justice.

Jerry

The “combo” of having a secret fear that deep down I maybe evil or rotten and at the same time reading the book about the adventures of Pennywise would make me freak out a bit if someone called me a Clown yo. I could hear the almost childlike, taunting voice of Pennywise saying…….. “Tag , your IT. ” Ahhhhhhhhhh !!!

Jesse

Gacy was a scary clown. Pennywise was funny. If your dryer is shaking a bunch it might not be dying just need to adjust the legs maybe. Balloons really Asia??

shawn boyce

Tim Reid was on that Disney show but, also did a show like America's most wanted called save our streets in the 90's

shawn boyce

I think Bill played in the famous TV series The Waltons as John boy and the black kid as an adult is from “Sister, Sister” Disney show. Love them both!

girlygirl9983

You guys are full of surprises! I'll be tuning in for this one. And since it was so close, I expect to see The Thing soon! 😉

Renee S

Wow the made for TV version, what a joke even BJ fallin asleep lol. Next time skip the made for tv ones! The new version is much scarier but the book was so scary that I had to put it in the freezer at night until I finished.

GQubed

Throws spear from considerable height

Mindbomb

OK date is over, I am back home with my cat, some popcorn and you guys!!! Finally lol thank God

Elizabeth DeMerie

When this came out I was too afraid to watch it because of that damn clown. I think it’s time for me to check it out!

Julie A

fiscal or calendar? sorry ima nerd.

StatueOfGuyThinking

all you men in here afraid of Clowns...check yourselves. then dry up your shame... :0 (awaits feeble attacks from scared men) lol

StatueOfGuyThinking

I watched this when I was like 7 with my older brother and cousins and it scared the shit out of me haha

Daniel

Clowns like that give me nightmares 😂

Dan63

One thing I do like about the original mini-series is that followed the format of the book hopping back and forth between the present day and the past.

Jerry

THANK YOU! for reacting to the 1990s version. I definitely will stay subscribed to you for the rest of the year for this. Much appreciated!

e4tless

: D "We all float down here Georgie"

Jerry

Dang it I’m at work!! It’s ok I’m off soon and now I have something to look forward to when I get home. Asia girl no hiding behind your open fingers hahaha you crack me up with your fake eye hiding between her open fingers. Watching everything pretending your covering your eyes lol so funny!! When is more last of us coming!!

brooke atkins

I'm just starting this and I'm already busting up about how BJ accurately pointed out that I have a drier on its last legs, haha.

Jimmie V

🤣🤣 Shelbyyyy!!! You know it!!

Asia and BJ

Finger masked time

Shelby Givens

I also recommend the documentary 'Pennywise: The Story of IT.' Lots of Tim Curry in it.

Chryss Guiler

Oh wow 👌🏾 I am so excited for both of you to view/react to this!!!

JL Green

This is the 1990 one. Personally I feel it’s much weaker since it was made for TV. The only redeeming quality is Tim Curry’s pennywise.

Michael King

🤣🤣🤣👊💜 Enjoy your evening

Stacey Capito

I may watch this one, but I really like the TV mini-series from 1990 better, with Tim Curry as Pennywise.

Chryss Guiler

Hey Capito ♥️ hope all is well

Elizabeth DeMerie

I am on a date at a nice restaurant in NYC and I am considering saying I have an emergency at home lmao 🤣....I gotta go A beautiful little "Italian restaurant" small tables outside gorgeous nite...

Elizabeth DeMerie

👀👀😁😂lol I just seen the first bit about the washing machine and dryer!!! Lmao🤣 and yep that's all... that part👊😘🥰

Donna Bannister

Those are my favorite movies in the genre by far. 💜

Stacey Capito

Looking forward to this one. Thanks! 🥰 I read this book when I was in high school... and what I love about the movie is that it's visually what I saw in my mind while reading the book.

Stacey Capito

Nope this movie is the reason I hate clowns I will not be watching this one with you 🤡😳😂. You should try the conjuring movies to react to if you want horror movies they're based on true paranormal case files also a haunting in Connecticut is another one. I will just keep going through the four episodes of game of thrones you put up and now two sopranos lol

Michelle C

One word....LEGENDS! :) That really was the craziest poll I've seen yet lol
