2023-10-01 04:54:18 +0000 UTCIn a way it draws a parallel to Bill and Frank. When its the end of the world u need a purpose to continue living. Frank became Bill's and Sam was Henry's so after Henry killed killed his brother he killed his purpose and it was too much for him to handle.

2023-04-03 23:55:44 +0000 UTCIf you watch the 'Inside the Episode' at the end of this episode you learn that Sam (Keivonn Woodward) is deaf irl. The cast and crew actually learned ASL to communicate during production. I thought that was pretty cool on their part.

2023-04-03 04:29:37 +0000 UTCI was waiting on this episode. My heart breaks everytime. My favorite episode of any tv show in a long time. But i waited on this episode to talk about the infected. Its several stages, we've seen now. The runners when you first torn, the stalkers when you start to have the cordyceps growing from your face, the clickets, and the big ones, the bloaters. Fun fact the host is still alive when its a runner or stalker, like ants are when theyre infected, theyre basically trapped inside theyre body thats being run by the cordyceps. How terrifying is that. the host isnt dead until they get to the clicker stage when theyre skull is split open.

This episode and the one with Bill and Frank were the biggest emotional gut punches for me.

The huge infected monster that ripped that dude's head off is called a Bloater. It's been infected for a long time. Probably like 20 years or so. It's one of the advanced stages of infection. There are a few more different types of infected that will be introduced in seasons 2 & 3. I think episode 5 is the best in the series.
