Band of Brothers Ep.10

Band of Brothers Ep.10

Thanks guys. I recommend you watch "We Were Soldiers" for your next war movie. I think maybe war movies aren't Asia's favorite, but if you do go back in the direction, We Were Soldiers, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan (have you watched that already? I can't remember) are good ones to pick.

Ben Schwartz

This show is amazing, truly a beautiful piece of work. The pacific is a very good show as well you guys should check out sometime 👌

Chase Leviner

Please check out The Pacific next! It is a very hard series to watch, a lot more brutal than BoB but just as important.

Enrique Shockwave

We Stand Alone Together is the real last episode where they all talk, It is great, hope you watch it at some point. More people need to know what happend during WW2, not just EZ story. Great job guys.

Jason Allen Wolcott

That wasn't Hitler in the Eagle's Nest. Nobody ever found Hitler's body. It's probably somebody high ranking though. A lot of his command committed suicide, others fled, a lot of them to South America. There are still German towns in South America as a result.

Time for The Pacific now guys its an experience you have to watch

Dave Lawrencee

I would like to recommend you also watch "We Stand Alone Together," which is a short documentary also created by the Band of Brothers' creators. The documentary is where the interviews in the show came from, but it digs a little deeper into what these brave men went through.

Honoring My Father For His Service: My Father Joined The Army In 1940 As An Infantryman, By The Time Pearl Harbor Happened He Was A Sargent. The Services Had A Call For Pilots And He Qualified Went Through Flight School And Was Commissioned As A 2 Lt. In The Army Air Corps. He Was Shipped To The South Pacific And Flew P- 38 Lightnings As Part Of The Fifth Air Force Until The End Of The War. He Decided To Make The Service A Career And Stayed In The Military. In 1947 The Army Air Corps Became The Airforce. He Flew In The Korean War As A F- 86 Fighter Pilot For His First Tour Of Duty. He Then Returned To The States And Transitioned Into Multi Engine Air Craft. He Then Did A Second Tour Of Duty In Korea And Was Assigned To Fly The Warsaw Pact Peace Delegation Around To Attend The Peace Talks. After That Conflict He Stayed In The Airforce And Continued To Serve. In 1967 He Was Sent To Vietnam As A C- 130 Pilot He Was Part Of The Air Commandos And Had Many Top Secret Missions. During The Tet Offensive Of 1968 He Volunteered For A Mission To Rescue The President Of South Vietnam's Family That Was Trapped In The Presidential Palace Surrounded By The North Vietnamize Army. He Was Awarded The South Vietnamese Medal Of Honor And A U. S. Silver Star For That Action. After Vietnam He Continued To Serve Until 1970 With Thirty Years Of Service And Retired As A Major. I Think It's Important To Remember Their Stories And Share Them With The Generations That Follow.

Old Drill Sgt.

Loved the reaction and especially your respect and gratitude for the Greatest Generation. BJ, I know how you feel about your Grandfather who served in the war. My Dad served and his cousin was a Navy pilot who was in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. I was too young to understand and ask about their experiences too. All we can do is honor them and never forget their sacrifices. I hope you consider The Pacific. Those men have a story to tell and too many people only know about the War in Europe, so those who served in the Pacific deserve to be remembered too. It was an incredibly brutal theater of war… Also, maybe watch We Stand Alone Together as a Patreon exclusive? You’ll get to hear the veterans of Easy tell many more stories that were not in the series. You’ll really enjoy and be touched by it. Love you both!

Who dat baby!

Marcus

Second this. That movie is a masterpiece

Marcus

Asia and BJ it was so touching and fun to see your reactions to this series. Thank you so much for giving this a look and sharing. My dad served 30 years in the Army and a Viet Nam veteran. Growing up in the military was sometimes hard or sad. But it was also fun and magical at the same time. I definitely recommend The Pacific and Generation Kill like others have mentioned. But if you want to switch it up there is a fantastic documentary called Brats: Our Journey Home. It’s narrated by Kris Kristofferson and about the life of the military brats.

Pink Martini AZ

Totally agree on the Pacific. I completely forgot about Generation Kill! I read the book long ago and LOVED it as well as the miniseries that followed.

Pink Martini AZ

My Dad and one of his brothers were drafted into the Army in 1942. It non-intentionally worked out that they both wound up in California after their basic training and they slept next to each other on the floor the night before they shipped out to the war. The next day my Dad went west to the Pacific. His brother went east to North Africa and Europe. They both made it through combat and came home, thank God.

Ed Pawley

Speaking of weird to see... considering what he looks like now, scrawny little Tom Hardy is almost unrecognizable in these final 2 episodes.

dabbingcannasseur

Fun Fact: The actor that played Major Winters is actually British. The actor that played Captain Nixon was in one of my all time favorite movies, Office Space. It was always a little weird to see him playing Captain Nixon and to see Ross from Friends playing Captain Sobel. All of the actors did a fantastic job though.

Tombstone Shadow

Thank you so much. I'm 3rd gen US Military. My nephew is now. The PACIFIC is another mini series ,but is about the Pacific War instead of the European War. Its really good too.

jason

Now you need to check out the Pacific

Irby

I agree. I found the pacific to be much more emotionally impactful.

I B v Li K

You two hit the ball out of the park on this one!!!!!!

"The Pacific" Touches On Marines Fighting The Japanese. It Follows Three Marines' Stories In Five Of The Major Battles Of That Theater Of WW2. It Was Created By The Same People Who Did Band Of Brothers Including Tom Hanks And Steven Spielberg.

Old Drill Sgt.

As a retired Marine, I want to thank you for watching this, for sharing it with your followers, and for your thoughtful reflections on it. This was my grandfather's and stepfather's war, long before my time, but I've been reading about it since I was little and have always been humbled by what that generation did. Some suggestions for future miniseries to watch about military history and the people who made it, if I can offer them: The Pacific, which is like a sister series to BoB - it follows some Marines who fought in that theater of World War II, two of whom wrote books about their experiences and one of whom won the country's highest award, the Medal of Honor. The War, a documentary mini-series by Ken Burns that follows service members and civilians from four U.S. towns from the beginning to the end of World War II and features short interviews with a number of other veterans. Ken Burns also made a great mini-series, The Vietnam War, that covers the history of that country and the wars fought there through most of the 20th century involving France, Japan, and the U.S., as well as the war between North and South Vietnam. Generation Kill, a mini-series about a Marine Force Recon platoon in the invasion of Iraq in 2003, based on a book with the same title written by a Rolling Stone reporter who was embedded with that platoon. Like Band of Brothers, all the characters in the Marine unit in GK are real people. Interesting fact: the lieutenant who was in charge of that platoon wrote a book of his own later about the same events. He and the reporter each write about each other, and their recollections of each other, their interactions, and what they experienced in that invasion match up pretty precisely. You might also like a pair of movies Clint Eastwood directed about the battle of Iwo Jima. One, Flags of Our Fathers, tells the story from the American point of view; the other, Letters From Iwo Jima, from that of the Japanese. Thanks again! Semper Fidelis, Jim Finley Captain, USMC, retired PS We lost my stepfather who served overseas in World War II, in the Navy in both the Atlantic and the Pacific, twenty years ago. His birthday was St. Patrick's Day - he would have been 100 years old this month if he were still around. I will always be grateful to have had him in my life as a father, a role model, a mentor, and a friend. RIP, George.

Jim Finley

My pop was in the 82nd airborne during this mess. I have stated this before and i will say it again, IF there was ever a series that needs to be shown in ALL schools THIS IS IT!!!!

duane

I can understand if you wanna take a slight break from war stuff after finishing this series, but gotta put the new 'All Quiet On The Western Front' Netflix movie on a list for future watch. It's about World War 1.

dabbingcannasseur

Thank you for watching BOB. It's a favorite in my house and I was just waiting for my favorite reactors to check it out. Please watch we stand alone together

Chris Ziobro

Better call Saul next? 🙂

Adam smith

yeah, when will we see leaders who start wars fight first? although thats how kings of old did it and there was still lots of wars so...

StatueOfGuyThinking

Glad you enjoyed it. If you enjoyed band of brothers , you'll like the pacific. It's the follow up series to BOB.

Wayne Polk

One of the great tragedies of war is that there is plenty of money to turn young men into soldiers, but nothing to turn them back into civilians when the war ends. That still hasn't changed enough despite the promises of politicians, so for some the war never ends.

Mr Jackpots

Great! Now you gotta do The Pacific if you wanna help the alliance win ww2… just sayin’

Jimmie V

There is one more unofficial episode of Band of Brothers -- it is a documentary about Easy Company -- it is called "We Stand Alone Together" and it is available on YouTube and it is a one hour. The interviews with all the guys came from the documentary. It is really good and has actual footage of the war and all the guys tell their story. It is really worth watching.

Nanette Davis

Asia, BJ; thank you for watching Band of Brothers. Thank you.

Gary David Holbrook

Awesome reaction. So glad you did this series. Well done. ***One more to go. "We Stand Alone Together. The Men of Easy Company "****Please react to it.

Michael Yoder

Thanks for all the reactions :) Y'all gotta check out "We stand alone together" it's a 1 hour documentary with more detailed accounts from the veterans themselves, that documentary is where the clips in the beginning of each episode are from, it's a great addition to the series

Benjamin Brönnimann

Enjoyed it. Great job Asia & BJ.

Dan63

Great show! You should check out HBO’s The Pacific. It’s the same type of show but from the point of soldiers fighting the Japanese.

Frederick Corbin

Winters died in 2011. Guarnere in 2014. Malarkey in 2017. Shifty in 2009. Speirs in 2007. And the last surviving Easy Company soldier died last year, Bradford Freeman (He wasn't in the show). The last soldier to die that was cast in the show was Edward Shames in 2021 (The soldier in Bastogne who was yelling at the other soldiers in the montage as Winters and Nixon were discusing who should replace Dyke as commander of Easy). Anyway it was great rewatching again with you both! My favourite show of all time. Next mini-series I recommend is Chernobyl!

Bill William

What a great series. Glad I watched along with y’all yo. Farewell BoB.👍💙✌️
