Someone probably already informed you guys of this, but there is also a documentary that consists of a lot of interview footage of those same guys - it's called "We Stand Alone Together" - there is a copy on youtube. You guys should watch it, you would like it!

I was watching The Great Raid the other day, a movie about the attempted rescue of POWs from the Bataan Death March at the beginning of ww2 which I highly recommend to you guys, so the mention of no helmets in that was due to being too noisy. can't have that metal pot on your head clanging around.

Episode 9 is next and it’s indescribable. Soldiers have fought and seen death in horrible ways, freezing wet conditions and now what they see in Germany.

Fyi: Lt. Jones is Tom Hanks son. Tom was an executive producer for this series.

If you want to listen to more of the stories of the soldiers -- there is an unoffical 11th episode called "We Stand Along Together" which is the documentary where all the interviews come from at the beginning of each episode. The documentary is really good and lasts one hour. It is available on YouTube and kind of ties the whole thing together. Most reactors also do "We Stand Alone Together".

Great discussion after the episode! I love that you two are doing this series. It’s not as “hip” as shows like Game of Thrones and many others but… it’s such an important one. It’s on another level of maturity and appreciation. Keep up the good work Asia and BJ.

The German soldier left on the bank of the river screaming was actually voiced by Tom Hanks himself. And as other's have said his son was played by Lt. Jones. And damn, it seems like BJ emotionally felt Jackson's death more than any other moment in the show. Such a heartbreaking and unnecessary tragedy. 💔Oh and Asia. you caught on to everything in this episode! 👌

that is one of the reasons the men respected captain(now major) winters. He knew when a mission was worthwhile and when it was not worth it.

Really enjoying y’all’s reaction and comments about this amazing series. After the previous one, this episode is a little bit of a breather before the next episode, which leaves me (and many others) absolutely destroyed. Y’all can’t get it uploaded fast enough for me.
Keep up the fantastic job, you two! Much love from The ATL.

I second that! BJ could sit and listen to them talk for over an hour, right up his alley.

The West Point guy. This is what they did with young officers from West Point. They needed that notation on their record that they'd seen combat to be promoted later. The army was protecting them because they were career soldiers, and they needed them for after the war. The other guys were mostly draftees or had joined just for the war and would all leave the army when it was done.

Years ago I remember talking to my girlfriend's father about his time in Normandy. He was part of an ill conceived attack against SS troops in which his unit was decimated and he was captured, narrowly escaped being executed by the SS and spent the rest of the war in a POW camp. All he would ever say about it was, 'Captain got a medal'. That's the military, that's war.
