Batman Begins

Batman Begins

Comments

Lol Asia's Batman's voice would strike fear in the hearts of criminals. I regret not seeing this in theaters but I did watch it in the Dollar theater but those no longer exist after the lockdown. But I thought it was dope as well, Christopher Nolan's take on Batman was hella good. Tim Burtons take with Michael Keaton was dope as well and with Jim Carry as the Riddler was bomb as F*ck. And BJ, I've been riding with the Panthers since 1995 when they were added to the Franchise. It was them or Jaguars but like Asia, I liked the Panthers colors. If Hollywood accepts the terms of Christian Bales terms we could see The Dark Knight Returns with Mr. Freeze as the villain or Clayface would be dope. Another Good flick, who doesn't like Batman.

Saints_Madness

Just a side note - Detective Gordon is an old friend of yours, you saw him as Zorg the baddie in The 5th Element.

Jesse Castaneda

The Batman has never been a "Super" hero, he never had super anything, but he has developed his body through training and by using his intellect, he can counter any villain. Above all else, he has always been a great detective - he is a problem solver and when you see him in his movies or read his comics, he is trying to solve the problem. That and he has his utility belt where all the fun toys are stored, being a billionaire gives him a chance to develop great toys, aka - the grappling hook, his tank car (batmobile), his cape that lets him allows him to hang glide and other cool toys. Batman has a code of ethics and he will never try to kill the baddies, he believes in locking up and rehabilitating them. He is the natural leader when other super heros team up with him and they defer to his leadership. He is also the last line of defense against other heros going rouge. He has secretly developed a way to stop any hero (even the good guys), if they ever go bad. The bat has a great origin story, and this movie covers it pretty well. Seeing both his parents killed as a kid has broken him a little and it drives his need for justice. He is the night, and uses fear of it to help combat evil, hence the name the Dark Knight (play on words) a modern day Knight who fights justice his own way.

Jesse Castaneda

Well it's a good thing we don't see much more of her after BB.

He train from the time his parents died at eight years old until he was 18 Then he went overseas and transfer another eight years in the physical arts He mastered 127 different combat styles He also rarely sleeps more than four hours a night But they had to shorten all this for the movie

Jason Augustine

Just now getting around to watching your reaction on this and the moment you both were confused on in your talk around the 2:20.00 mark about when Bruce found out Ra's was evil was this: When Bruce was training, the objective was for him to work as Ra's right hand man in reforming civilization(s), yes with an "s". by first destroying them then rebuilding them into something else. Not specified in the movie but some lore on Ra's Al Ghul is that he is centuries old and has the ability to resurrect through what is called the Lazarus Pit. His league of shadows is usually tasked with finding his body and taking it to this pit over the years should he parish in any event. When Bruce's final objective through the trial was to decapitate the criminal, this was the defining point in solidifying his stance. to play god like Ra's and the league was doing, and become like the criminals he thought they were out to stop, or to separate himself from both and become "more". Batman has a code that separates him from the criminals he chases, and that of course is the no kill code. To your question: Bruce found out Ra's was evil when it was explained that his job was to become Judge Jury and Executioner. You all went back and forth on knowing or not knowing who the actual Ra's was (either Liam Neeson, or the Monk sitting in the center of the Monastery.) and actually guess right "at first lol." However, the movie set it up so that the identity of the real Ra's would be revealed later. I found it funny that you missed a single key moment when Neeson explained that he was a representative of Ra's and the league of shadows, and misheard it as he was Ra's which turned out to be correct. Great watch and reaction as always!

Clockwork360

Love rewatching with you guys.

Sara Elizabeth Joyce

I had forgotten how really good the first movie was. I'm glad you decided to watch this first after all...but The Dark Knight with Heath Ledger as The Joker is even BETTER. Be prepared for #2 - new characters, more action...you're gonna love it 😎 Dr. Crane (the one who came up with the fear gas) had an alter ego as super villain The Scarecrow. Liam Neeson's character's name is Ra's al Ghul. (raz al-gool)

Bryan Sproles

Did you folks notice the little blonde boy later in the movie is Joffrey from Game of Thrones?? ;)

Greg

Hopefully you guys start the MCU as well 😍

Brandon Smith

I agreed.

Duarte Dunn

There have been so many renditions of Batman for the last 50+ years, but Christopher Nolans Dark Knight trilogy is hands down the absolute best (IMHO). Can't wait to enjoy the next one with you two!

LynnC

Today, in the top 50 comic book sales, Batman is one of the few from DC or Marvel that makes the list. He's a superhero without super powers, which is what people like about his character. Can't wait 'till you watch the next one.

Ed Pawley

Yo you gave away your age! You were born in 83? You look good! I was born in 93 and I already have a gray beard and a hairless dome piece lol

Dylan Miller

Just joined yall on patreon and it looks like I joined at the right time. Bring on dark knight!

Shaun2342!

I wanted my daughter to see how much more serious superhero movies had become since I was young, so I showed her the 60's Batman movie and the moment she saw the rubber shark on Batman's leg she rolled her eyes and said she can't watch anymore 😅 😆

JL Green

Ryan Reynolds apologized so much for that movie, 🤣

Rowan

All I can say is put your tray in the upright position, seat belts on. Heath Ledger is about to blow your wig off. I believe he's still the only actor portraying a comic book character that won an Oscar, after his death, for that portrayal. He's THAT good. If you've seen him in anything else you'll know what a good job he did.

Rowan

Even helped them! They learned more about Batman than they knew before.

Rowan

By the way, the boy at 1:25:20 is Jack Gleeson better known to you as Joffrey Baratheon.

ImOnlyBleeding

Uncut reactions🥳😵‍💫🫣🤣🤗

Muff420

The League of Shadows thing is not really accurate to Batman, but the scenes give you the fact Batman does not kill. It's what sets him apart from the bad guys. He destroys their base because he gets the kill him or else choice, and told they plan to destroy Gotham. They may as well have pour gas on themselves and handed him a lit match. Though to be fair, he refuses to kill one criminal and wipes out loads of people instead, so it is a plot issue. :)

Michael Paddon

The first Batman movie with Jack Nicholson as Joker is my favorite. I really liked the first half of this one, but we've seen so many action sequences that I find them a little boring, other than the way he moves across the rooftops and descends onto the bad guys. That's how the video games work and I love them. Keith Ledger's Joker? I'm really interested in what you'll think of him especially since you have very little knowledge of Batman lore. Looking forward to it.

Mr Jackpots

Favorite part of the movie is when he tells Rachel her own line and then jumps to Ras. The screams makes Ras turn because Batman terrified them. Nice entrance.

Rockstar

They wanted to execute him. That is not morally right. Bruce Wayne is a moral man. Always hilarious how so many americans can't grasp that. often so awkward during the "revenge isn't justice" speech. And then not understanding what went down... it's... ironic. Other than not grasping the concept of justice, you seem really chill!

Rockstar

Why Vimeo doesn't have resume function?! Its a basic feature that any video host should have!

Nullifidian

Now that you guys might be starting to go to the marvel/DC rabbit hole, ya'll have to check out Iron Man (2008) and SpiderMan (2002) and so on 🔥

𝓙𝓸𝓼𝓱𝔂𝓦𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓰𝔂

I hope you watch "The Batman" as well after you finish with TDK trilogy.

Clinton Brown

Bruce Wayne does not murder for one simple, straightforward reason, he saw his parents murdered before his eyes with a gun at a young age. When he was in his early 20s he was reminded of how his parents wanted more for him, as he brought a gun to the courthouse to get revenge on his slain parents and was slapped in the face (twice) by his best friend. Later, when Ra's al Ghul, shows his actual plan that involves murder without justice, and mass homicide, he decides to take the "high road", and end Ra's al Ghul before he reaches Gotham (unsuccessfully).

Jordan Jackson

Can't wait for the next 2! Thanks guys :)

Matthew

An interesting tidbit is Chris Nolan (Director) utilized mainly practical effects. Which means most of the action you see, such as sliding down a mountainside was real and not CGI.

Darth Brooks

Hard work, determination, and a billions of dollars for accessories : )

Jerry

Dazed and Confused is a classic stoner movie : )

Jerry

1:25:22 , that little boy , that was Joffery. That was his first role

Josh

and just wait - the Dark Knight is even better.

Jerry

1:30am here just got off work about to be up til about 6am between this and Sopranos 😂😂😂

Darth Brooks

A little fact , the mansion "Wayne Manor", was owned by the Rothchilds during this time...as in the actual Rothchilds. It's also in the movie "Eyes Wide Shut"

Josh

Well. This was absolutely worth staying up until almost 2am. I’m so glad you liked it. This trilogy is the best set of Batman movies in my opinion, and Christian Bale is my favorite to play him. Can’t wait to see the next two. Also, please tell me you clocked Joffrey. He was the blonde boy in the Narrows.

Melissa

I love this movie and this trilogy. It's going to be epic watching ya'll react to them. Great reaction!

Sean G

So to answer one of your questions...Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Shadows told Bruce when they finished his training that they were planning to destroy Gotham, because they always do that to a city or civilization when it becomes too corrupt (burn it down and start all over again). That was why Bruce decided he had to stop Ra's and the League of Shadows.

Chris Marrero

The name of that one is The Batman Movie. Since BJ enjoyed the old Adam West Batman show he would probably love that movie!

Chris Marrero

This was fun.

Sean Smith

Throw The Joker on your next poll please.

Jerry

I’m glad you guys started with this one but I can’t wait till you guys see the dark knight and then the third part to this trilogy the dark knight rises it just gets better and better. Great reaction to an epic series

Jorge Lopez

''Didn't you get the memo?'' love that line.

SilverDoe🎔

I enjoyed the Christopher Nolan/ Christian Bale batman movies, they go really down hill after that to terrible. That includes the newer Superman movies as well. If you go the comic book route Marvel's universe is far superior during the same time period starting with Iron Man. Although many say and I agree Blade with Wesley Snipes really was the start of adult superhero movies for Marvel.

Christopher Miles

Did anyone else pick up the kid batman sees in the bad neighborhood that gets saved near the end is the actor that plays Joffrey in Game of Thrones? I never noticed that before. His name is Jack Gleeson. PS he said he based Joffrey on Joaquin Phoenix's role in Gladiator as Emperor Commodus.

Christopher Miles

Lol loved your Batman movie story Asia! We went to the cinema for the first time when I was 5/6 it was to see the Muppets. My mum ended up being the only one who watched it - my sister and I and dad all fell asleep 🤣🤣 The 1989 Batman is my fav tbf though, . Keaton is so good as Batman. I hope you rewatch it one day now Asia, to just see if you still think the same as 5 year old you! I loved your reaction to this. The dark knight trilogy is amazing, and the soundtrack? Its insanely good. I can't wait to see the rest. Good reaction, good movie, good cast, good music, good snacks lol. Thank you Asia and BJ as always you wasted no time getting into this one and I'm so glad!

SilverDoe🎔

I always forget how good this film is because of the Dark Knight. But wow! What an origin film. Packed with great actors. Cillian Murphy, Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldham, Christian Bale, Tom Wilkinson and Katie Holmes. Some cast!

Joey

Love the hat BJ! Go Panthers! I am a huge DC Comics fan, these are some of the good movies they have made!. I would love to see you react to Superman (1978). It was a favorite of mine as a child! (And definitely Superman II. I am still waiting for a God live action version of Green Lantern or the Green Lantern Core. Those are my favorite!!

Kristine Friling

Did you guys notice King Joffrey? I didn't notice the first time I watched! THis was an excellent movie! Thank you for doing this one!

Jordan Jackson

Batman was always my favorite comic book hero because he doesn't have any super powers. Anyone can be Batman. He made himself through hard work and determination. That's a hopeful message to give kids.

Mr Jackpots

There's one thing you need to know about Batman. He never kills anybody (deliberately) and he doesn't use guns. This can be especially frustrating in the video games, but that's his deal. Of course that way all the super villains he fights always come back after spending some time in Arkham, so he can catch them again. They're much too iconic to kill.

Mr Jackpots

What do you call a Bat Man who leaves church early? A: Christian Bale 🤣😂😁🤣😃😄

jason

ALSO that little kid Batman met on the rainy fire escape, lil Joffery!!

Riley

Wait til you watch the dark knight it is a awesome movie

James B.

The next one is so good too…don’t let it throw you that Rachel is played by a different actress in the next one. I’m glad you are doing this series. It’s the best of the Batman remakes.

Mary Merry Berry

Also, when he was forced to inhale the flower.. Yes.. That was them trying to get him to live out his fears and face them to make him stronger. When batman was out for a couple days, Alfred got help from Lucious Fox to create an antidote, then later, he started creating bigger doses of it. But his dad wasn't the one who was preparing for that since his dad didn't run the company. Bruce Waynes father was a doctor, which is why he worked at the hospital. But the Wayne company made equipment for the military, which is why they had so much stuff in stock.

Vermillion Kingpin

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CANNOT wait for y'all to watch the next one!!

Vermillion Kingpin

You guys need to do harry potter after this!!

𝓙𝓸𝓼𝓱𝔂𝓦𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓰𝔂

Hey Asia and BJ. I get it, I understand, you listened to your followers and started with Batman Begins. I still think overall The Dark Knight could be considered a standalone, but I believe everyone wanted you both to have a proper frame of reference before you went to the sequel.

JL Green

I haven't seen this come up yet, but if you want a great, OG series check out "The Wire". Great writing, great acting - Excellent show. Hope others chime in to support this.

Kevin McCoy

U should check out the first ever batman movie from the 60s staring Adam West

Lewsifer

Right!! The Christian Bale batman series is so good, but gotta start at the first!

Riley

Man I may have to call in and tell them I forgot to walk my goldfish. Batman and Sopranos today hell yeah!

Darth Brooks

Late night it is……………again. Haha

Jesse

Ya!!! I’m very happy you guys didn’t start in the middle movie

TinCan Cosmanaut

Sopranos or Batman? Or stay up wayyyy too late and watch it all tonight? 🤔

Melissa

Yesss I remember that! I’m watching this reaction tonight and I can’t wait to see if they spot him.

Melissa

Jack Gleeson, the actor who plays Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones, has a small part in a few scenes in this flick yo. He may be “little” but he’s definitely not a “b#tch” in this one. 👍💙☮️

Jesse

AAYYYYYYEEEEEEEE dope movie

CHROME DeePo

This director you're about to get to know, Christopher Nolan, took this comic book realm and analyzed the human conditions darkest aspects here, we have Fear try to name everything in this movie that had to do with fear Nolan is a genius director you need to watch more of him when this is finished

Karl Kraus

The Batman is in the House !!! Or on the house? Hanging upside down under the roof. That’s it yo! And so it begins. Thanks Asia and BJ !!! 👍💙🦇🥷

Jesse

This one is definitely a bit slower paced because it’s an origin story, but the next one is all action.

Anthony Ortiz

It only gets better from here. The Dark Knight is one of the best superhero movies of all time thanks to the Heath Ledger, who portrays The Joker.

Anthony Ortiz

All right a lot of these movies lately have been pretty much on the heavy side how about looking for something a little bit lighter and more fun lol again I'm going to throw out there because of the music dazed and confused or almost famous 😁
