Here are pictures of the new Quansheng models (from left to right):
UV-K5 V3
UV-K1 V3 with extended battery
UV-K1 V3 with small battery
All of the radios have same internal circuitry, only body looks and batteries are different.
The K5 has same orange screen while the K1 has blue screen.
The small UV-K1 looks cool in my opinion and feels good in the hand.
Additionally here is my comment on the current state of Quanshengs:
UV-K5 V1 - these are the radios that run community based firmwares (including mine), these are slowly phased-out due to supply issues for the MCU used. if there are no ports of community firmwares into new radio versions these V1 ones likely will become collectors items with such functionalities, given the state of things I wouldn't count on the release of the commercial radio featuring encrypted, mesh messaging any time soon.. :)
UV-K5 V2 - these are mostly currently being sold on Aliexpress and have replacement MCU that does not support custom community firmwares, and in my opinion it is unlikely that custom community firmware will be developed for them (same with TK11)
UV-K5 V3 - soon to be rolled out, contains different MCU from V1 and V2, but offer technological advantage of bigger flash which was the main bottleneck for the community firmware advancement. I cannot really disclose everything I know at this point as Quansheng did ask me to refrain from sharing certain information. However if we as a community manage to come up with a custom firmware for V3 radios there might be some hardware advantage allowing features that were unavailable with previous versions :) The V3 still has no USB-PD though :)
