She replied, "He wasn't looking for help; he was looking for permission." The CIA is not allowed by law to operate domestically. He was making sure that he wasn't going to fuck up a foreign operation by taking Pushkin and his network out.

Robert was definitely agency, something that will become a bit more clear when you see Equalizer 2. Actually liked Teddy's character a lot as well, don't remember the actor's name but a fine performance. Glad you reacted to this, nice surprise in my in-box this morning!

2023-03-04 21:51:40 +0000 UTCBold opinion: I'll take Denzel and the Equalizer over Keanu and John Wick any day. Keanu did a shitttttttton of work to be able to learn how to handle guns the way he has for the Wick movies, but other than that, his acting isn't all that great. Denzel on the other hand, just as entertaining when he's talking as when he's killing. Like the 'what do you see when you look at me' scene.... so fucking good. It's also fun that Tait Fletcher, big dude with the big mustache, gets to be killed by Denzel and Keanu in both movies. IRL, Tait is actually a former MMA fighter, capable of manhandling any actor haha. Funny to watch him get killed all the time.

My thoughts were it’s an extreme formof hyper vigilance/OCD where its so meticulous it controls his very being. It’s what likely made him so good at his job. What’s really interesting is how after he did that first kill, he finally slept. It happened so fast you dont notice it but it gives you a glimpse of how into the life he was. Through out they kept highlighting his sleeping problems when he wasn’t killing then he did finally kill again and he slept through the night.

That's a world record, gotta put him in the guinness with that one lmao agree - the camera shot through his iris looking at them as he's weighing it up is sublime! Sadly, this is what a lot of sex trafficked people go through. Its a heartbreaking world for the victims. Marton Csokas is great as the main antagonist. Cool. Like Robert, calm and collected like he is when he kills too, they are perfect foes. I can't wait to see you both watch the 2nd - I'm happy to say? There's a 3rd coming out this year :) When Robert starts that stopwatch? You KNOW its about to go down! ''He didn't come here for help. He came here for permission.'' Such a class line from Susan. That song at the end? It was PERFECTION building up the tension and keeping it throughout. You've got to remember too...Denzel was nearly 60 when this first movie came out. That guy is 68 now and he's not finished as Robert McCall yet! Loved your reaction to this - one of my favs now.

The way he shows his inner turmoil: him wanting to keep his "no violence" promise to his wife while wanting to help people and dealing with the weight of his past is genius! Also director Antoine Fuqua did an incredible job! The imagery, weapon choices (he never brings his own weapon), the sprinkler rain in the Home Mart at the end...brilliant.
