Custom Linux installation scripts
Added 2025-08-18 19:22:40 +0000 UTCLately I have been doing some hardened desktop Linux setups for friends and family based on LMDE 6.
My setup included features like:
full disk encryption with LUKS with paranoid encryption complexity levels
BTRFS filesystem
Timeshift snapshots support
Additionally for Thinkpads that support 2 SSD drives:
root filesystem on BTRFS RAID 1 consisting of each disk fully encrypted with LUKS
I am considering sharing these scripts, as common installer options or even tutorials do not come near the setups mentioned. Let me know if this is something you'd find interesting.

Do you know what model your Thinkpad is? Recently I've setup the T480 for someone. It was like $100 for the laptop. This thing works so well. Currently waiting for the second drive adapter from Aliexpress. With some tweaks it currently draws 3.5W of power when idle :)

2025-08-20 11:27:20 +0000 UTCI have a old Thinkpad (2017 I think?) with a single SSD , not sure if it will take a second SSD drive or not, it is kind of retired at the moment , this might bring it out of retirement though :) .
