So glad you guys enjoyed this one. I’ve seen it multiple times and still cry (and laugh). I can’t wait to watch more movies with you two, you are as entertaining as the movies themselves πŸ˜€

Sharon Larkin

Very good movie with a lot of great actresses and actors including Daryl Hannah who was in the Kill Bill movies y’all watched. The video below is with Oprah interviewing some of the cast from Steel Magnolias. https://youtu.be/Y50bihb4HNA

I love this movie so much I just had to share a few of my thoughts! I was born and raised in the rural Deep South during this era and the way it's depicted in the film is spot on. All those ladies hanging out and gossiping at Truvy's hair salon are identical to the women I'd encounter today if I walked into any independently owned beauty shop in the South. I think you have to actually be from that world to fully understand and appreciate the title of this movie. The magnolia is an evergreen tree/shrub, native to the South, with white, fragrant flowers. The blossoms are beautiful but only last a short while before the petals begin to brown around the edges. So on the surface they seem shallow and superficial, just like this group of women appear to be when everything's ok and they're sparring with each other. But when tragedy does strike, there's a core of solid steel within them that gets them through. Southern women love their men, but wbe

Steel Magnolias is one of my all-time Top Ten favourite movies (and my first watch ever on Patreon). Perfect way to spend a Friday night after foot surgery!

Original Cyn

The cast was amazing and stayed much closer to the stage play where the scenes all take place in the beauty parlor.

Stacey Capito

Every. Time. This reaction is the first time I’ve seen it since I had my daughter and a whole new level of crying has been unlocked.

Melissa

Doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen this movie, I always end up in a puddle of tears. Sally Fields is an amazing actor, that last funeral scene always gets me πŸ˜’πŸ’”.

Patty Estrada

You’ve got great taste, ma’am!❀️

Justin Doggett

πŸ₯° Shirley MacLaine is one of my favorite actresses. The casting director knocked it out of the park. I love Tom Skerritt too. Was waiting to see if anyone noticed that he's Jester in Top Gun.

Stacey Capito

Old head here. Fantastic movie and that cast was unbelievable! Olympia Dukakis, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, Julia Roberts and the incomparable Sally Field! Great reaction!❀️

Justin Doggett

Great movie! Great cast :-) as a nurse I can tell you we make the worse patients. Shelby was a nurse AND in denial, she didn't want to believe anything was wrong. I believe that's why she didn't say anything to anybody. I also think she would have survived had she spoke up. Organs are rejected, they are removed and you go back on the waiting list. In Shelby's case she got an infection because the rejected kidney was inside her too long. The infection killed her, that's my take anyway. I love this movie...I laugh and I cry. "Tears through laughter" πŸ’œ

Dorinda Schaper

Based off a true story. As someone who has a child with downs and diabetes, it hits the feels everytime.

Darth Brooks

Perfectly said... "men are supposed to be made of steel or something" I've always loved that line in the movie and the timing it is said. A woman experiencing such variations of strength and vulnerability at the time when both are required and feel opposing.

Stacey Capito

Deserved one, but unfortunately didn't get it. Julia Roberts won a golden globe for supporting actress, but that's the only win for the movie aside from a People's Choice award. I was shocked the women only had nominations, but there was only 1 win.

Stacey Capito

Another one bites the dust on Steel Magnolias. You asked what the title meant. WE are Steel Magnolias. Southern women. Now for the 164th time it took me down. Every. Damn. Time. I took Tylenol ahead of watching to ward off the crying headache I knew was coming. It's a circle of life movie BEFORE The Lion King. The seasons of a woman's life, be they dark or light. Yes, like BJ said, sisterhood.

Rowan

Love this movie! I cry everytime! As far as the cast goes Sally Field was M`Lynn(the mom) was also Forest Gumps mom and Daryll Hannah was Annelle and she was also in Kill Bill 2 she was Elle(the one with one eye) Love y`all reaction!!

Dee Lawson

Ok, I just finished and it's only 2:15 am. I love how the women's friendships are depicted here; you can feel the love between all of these very different personalities through thick and thin. Great pick Beth. I loved watching this again with both of you. πŸ₯°

Joni Erickson

Oh man, now I'm going to be up super late, lol! I have to watch this one with you guys immediately 😊. And probably cry for the ?th time. It's been awhile.

Joni Erickson

One of my favorite movies. I lived in Natchitoches for a couple of years. The Christmas festival is a big event there. My ex and I were married on the river downtown and I worked in one of the buildings they show during the closing credits (many years after the movie released). Wonderful reaction. Thank you for the walk down memory lane

Justtired

Not sure if it was noticed but Annelle - The woman with the glasses who was pregnant in the end - is played by Daryl Hannah. You guys just watched her in Kill Bill as California mountain snake (the one with the eye patch)

Ashly Vader

Great movie, gets me every time.

Tonio

β™₯ "Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion."

Jennifer James (wtfwebgoddess)

Sally Fields won an Oscar for this performance, mainly because of the cemetery scene. That scene was so believable. This is also a true story.

Kara Davis

That's cool I saw the house one year when I went through there to go to baton rouge

Shelby Givens

Loved it! Lovely reaction.

One of my favorites!! Me, my mom & my sister quote this movie ALL THE TIME !! Ouiser is my favorite character!! πŸ’•

Michele G

This was filmed in the town where I went to college, the same town where my daughter was born, even her doctor was in the movie. It was kinda bittersweet but exciting to see it all happen. The play was written about a family in the town so it was too emotional for all those close to the family to watch. I was in the marching band at the time and we even got to do a halftime show with Dolly. All the Christmas scenes were filmed in July in Louisiana so always in the upper 90's.

William Wolfe

Great timeless movie and awesome actors. I can't help but cry even though I've seen it before. Just a beautiful story.

Rita Bickford

Great reaction to one of my all time favorite movies! Thanks y'all!!!!

daisy

I am super excited!!!!!!! Thank you for this reaction! Can't wait to watch it.. FYI - The movie was adapted from a stage play written by the brother of the real life Shelby. πŸ’œ It was filmed in the same town they grew up in. My friends joke that the older I get the more I turn into Ouiser. 😘 Gotta love Ouiser, she keeps it real and interesting.

Stacey Capito

Hell yeah I'm watching this now πŸ˜‹ Sad but one of my definite favorites. Damn, why do I have to watch such heavy movies with reactors this week, lol.

Renee S
