I've never watched this all the way through, maybe because I fell asleep the last time I watched this. But, I'm happy to be watching this with you guys. To answer your question, Lionel Barrymore is Drew Barrymore's great uncle. Lionel Barrymore passed away in 1954 and has been in many films through out his acting career, as well as a film director. Just a lil fun fact. Now to continue with the movie! Peace and love!

OMG, So you guys did see it. Awww I can watch this one every year.

Teri

Tuning in to watch this reaction almost a year after you posted this. I went snooping through the archives. One of my favorite movies of all time. I always bawl everytime I see it. Every single time. So awesome you watched this classic.

That wasn't Mr Potter at the end. He was still a warped old man.

Amy Reis

4F card was his draft card saying he was not fit for military service. Back in the days when everyone was eligible for the draft.

One of my all time favorites and a must to watch during Christmas. Or at least have in the background as it won't feel like Christmas happened without it. I love black and white movies and James Stewart (Harvey, is another classic with a sweet message). When they zoom in on the quote "Remember, no man is a failure who has friends.", always makes me a little emotional. So much pressure in society that can make ourselves feel as failures but really our lives are so rich with good friends. So happy to have seen you both watched this one! You're both George Bailey's! Bringing community together, making our day to days better.

It’s a Wonderful Life is perhaps the most classic Christmas movie, so glad y’all watched this movie. For next Christmas, I would recommend the movie Scrooged with Bill Murray. Here’s a sneak peek at Scrooged. https://youtu.be/9rznhiJXdR4

Since my kids were young, this movie has been a Christmas tradition in our family (26 plus years). I have always loved the storyline and pacing of this movie, but especially the message that it tells, that the life of one man touches on the lives of so many others and if that life had not been, things would have been soo different. Shout out to the teenager who opens the pool, it is Alfalfa from the Little Rascals.

This ending to this Movie always has me bawling. You two beaming and being so happy made my tears worth it more than ever. I went to IUP (Jimmy Stewart central).

Well I for one am about to snuggle up after a nice hot shower- I got some green tea beside me and gonna watch you folks experience It’s a Wonderful Life- my dad Blaine made us watch this every Christmas growing up- and until I was around 23 or so it didn’t strike me just how wonderful this movie is! I fell in love with Jimmy Stewart from this movie and it continues to this day. Atta boy Clarence!!! I’m not crying you are. I know I’ll enjoy. ❤️❤️❤️

You're not wrong there others do actually participate in "christmas in july" things such as this its just I sometimes take things literally and... it isn't THAT far away following the holidays but I have my view and you have yours so I'm glad you got to see this classic when you did I hope the history of this video's upload doesn't get erased and lost under the others in the months following I'll watch this without question

Karl Kraus

I requested it because it wasn’t done at Christmas and I think this movie is very important part of everyone’s film knowledge. It’s so good it needs to be. Seen. And it can be watched anytime I’ve watched in the summer. I sometimes watch Christmas movies in summer to forget how hot it is. Lol. .

Wonderful reaction! You said that you didn't recognize the term 4F: that's a draft board designation for those whom the military can't take because of a health condition. We were told earlier in the movie that George was 4F because of his ear, and that's why he didn't fight in the war. In case you didn't recognize the historical references: Mr. Gower's son died of influenza in 1919, the second year of the "Spanish flu" pandemic that killed tens of millions of people, and the run on the bank pretty much signals that the year was 1929, when the stock market crashed and the depression began. In 1946 both events would have still been vivid in most people's memories.

I still have my Christmas decorations up. This movie still applies.

They saw it... that's the important part. Maybe in December, they can do a live rewatch for Christmas.

Thomas Monk

This is definitely one of those classic movies that a lot of families watch at Christmas every year as a tradition. His wife, Mary, was the little girl who whispered in his bad ear that she would love him forever. All his life he wanted to leave and do big things, but he never got to and that was something that always stuck with him. But as you said, by the end, he realized how rich he truly was, not financially, but with the love of his family and friends. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the actor who played George, he was Jimmy Stewart and was a well known actor of the time. I hope you check out more of his movies.

Tara

was it requested very recently, as in days ago? or during this past holiday season? i definitely remember THAT because I was one of the party that suggested it

Karl Kraus

Hi Karl!! Great question… It was our patreon request.. definitely one we have to put out for the 2023 Christmas holiday!!

Asia and BJ

not that I disapprove of this movie... it's one of my favorites... but why watch this NOW? this is absolutely more appropriate when watching during Christmas i really don't know about this timing But Happy Viewing!

Karl Kraus

Mr. Potter played by Lionel Barrymore is the grand uncle to Drew Barrymore.

Just Me Chris

The girl he married was the little girl who spoke in his ear.
