Watched this movie in the 90's at the height of BlockBuster. Great cast ... my favorite characters were Max and his wife. Carol Kane is one of my all time favorite comedic actresses, and I really love when she pops up in a movie or TV show. You mentioned that the giant moved slow, but I got a chance to see Andre the Giant in a Royal Rumble fight (20 fighters at the same time). He used to carry grown men and throw them over the top rope, body slam them, and move around the ring like a man 1/2 his height and weight. My favorite one liners from the movie drive my fam crazy!! "INCONCEIVABLE", "ahh but I am NOT left handed", " Hello, My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!", "Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates? ...... MORONS!", "I just want you to feel you’re doing well", "He's not dead, he's just MOSTLY dead", and HAVE FUN STORMING THE CASTLE, are some of my go to's.

Yes please check out Antonio Banderas “The Mask of Zorro” 1995, then sequel “ The Legend of Zorro “ 2005. Also if you’re interested the first Zorro film i saw as a kid was “Zorro the gay blade”. Its actually a comedy released in 1981

He explained in the Fire Swamp why he didn't come back. He didn't fake his death, but was actually attacked by pirates. He begged the pirate for his life in the name of true love, and the pirate decided to give him a chance at being his valet. Everyday the pirate said he would probably kill him in the morning and obviously while he was captive of the pirate, he couldn't contact Buttercup. Eventually the pirate let him in on hte secret that the name of the pirate got passed on to a new person each time the leader decided to retire, and he had selected Wesley. By the time Wesley was established as the Pirate, she was engaged to Humperdink and he had to concoct this plan. Out of self preservation, he had to test her love before he revealed who he was.

Some context on the 'giant' in the film. Andre 'The Giant' Roussimoff (nicknamed by Vince McMahon Sr) was a brilliant French wrestler who played Fezzik in this film. He was 7'4", 510+ lbs of muscle, and one of his favorite pranks was to drag his friends' cars to other places than where they parked so that gives you an idea of how strong he was. He was diagnosed with gigantism at birth because the doctors could immediately see he had abnormal growth when he was born on May 19th, 1946 because he weighed in at a whopping 13 lbs which quite literally is off the infant size chart. His more specific condition was a hormone disorder called "acromegaly" which was caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland that flooded his body with growth hormones. By the time he was 15, he was 6'6" and he still would grow nearly a FOOT MORE in his life. Unfortunately, tumors like this are dangerous if they are not treated at a young age and the tech simply wasn't there in rural France in the '50s to safely treat him with the surgery that could have shrunk his tumor and increased his life expectancy. So, in 1993 because of the conditions secondary to his acromegaly/pituitary gigantism and the stress on his body, particularly the heart and lungs, Andre Roussimoff passed away in his sleep when he suffered a cardiac arrest at age 46. But beyond all of his physical abilities and all of his athletic abilities, he was also an incredibly intelligent, multilingual person that everyone said was the nicest and funniest person in the world until you stepped in the ring at which point all bets were off but as soon as the match ended, he was back to being his usual prankster self.
Sorry for the super long comment, I just thought you might be interested to know a little bit about him because he was such an interesting guy and not enough people who don't know about wrestling know he was more than just an actor in this film. He was a LEGEND.

Many years ago I went to our downtown theater where they played older movies for $5 or you got in free if you dressed up as a character from the movie. This was one of the movies that played and a good 80% of the audience was reciting the more famous lines along with the movie. It was really fun.

This was fun! I’m not sure if you’ve seen Forrest Gump, but Robin Wright (Buttercup) is in that movie with Tom Hanks.

A young Cary Elwes starred in this, and you may recognize him from your Liar Liar and Twister reactions.

Inconceivable! A movie I suggested finally! LOL! Great mix up of movie types (action, adventure, romance, comedy, etc...). For BJ, Andre the Giant also played the Sasquatch in the Six Million Dollar Man tv show in a few episodes. I have a cool romantic story I can tell you involving Wallace Shawn (Mr Inconceivable) if you want. Let me know and I will tell you about it.

BJ, I was waiting for you to recognize Andre the Giant! That’s way old school WWF. 7’4” 520 lbs of sweetheart. Kevin Savage was the star of The Wonder Years. And the miracle guy who saved Wesley was played by Billy Crystal. Great reaction!
