In the end with how John wanted to die cause of all the pain he constantly experienced, it always reminded me of people suffering from mental illness. 2023-04-27 01:17:37 +0000 UTCAs effed up as it was, it's also ironic how Del's execution went because his crime was rape and murder of a girl...followed by trying to hide her body with a fire that led to an apartment fire which killed more people. Not knowing the crime in the movie allows us to empathize with him more I think.

Before you guys posted this I recently watched it. It just touches you on so many levels. John Coffey had so many gifts. He was a healer, psychic and an empath. That's where you can feel the pain of others. That's a very hard gift to have. It's very painful. He's a great actor RIP. He was also in Armageddon. He was my favorite character in the movie 🎬. Absolutely loved your reaction to this❤❤❤

The tears just falling like theres no tomorrow!! All the good, bad and uglyyy emotions just coming at me from every direction!! WOW!! The green mile, Saving Private Ryan, and John Q with Denzelle Washington. John Q hit home for me that was the first movie that had me tearing up because it shows what you will do for you kid.

As to why John couldn’t heal the girls I think it was because they had been dead for too long. If you remember, when Mr. Jingles was crushed and John was asking for the body to be handed to him he says, “Give him to me. Might still be time.” Seems as if they waited too long he wouldn’t be able to “take it back”.

John Coffey was pointing to Cassiopeia, a constellation in the night sky, when he was being escorted to the warden's wife to "help" her brain tumor He was played by Michael Clarke Duncan, a very underrated actor. He was nominated for an Oscar for this role.
