2023-02-01 00:53:10 +0000 UTCHi Asia and BJ, Keanu spent a few months training for this movie. He was reunited with the stunt team from The Matrix. His stunt double for that movie directed all 3 JW movies. I watched the bonus features and Keanu spent 8 hours a day/5 days a week learning how to do the stunt driving and weapons/fight training for the movie. The stunt coordinators said that he was the first one there and the last to leave every night, unlike other actors in other movies who just come for a few hours. Keanu loved it. The stunt team was so impressed with him and I believe Keanu did all of his own driving in the movie and the majority of the fight sequences. I haven't seen the other reactions for JW2 and JW3 yet, so you may already know this, but I wanted to answer some of your questions. Marcus was John's friend who showed up at the funeral in the beginning. Viggo put a contract out on John after John killed all his men that were sent to his house. Viggo then asked Marcus to kill John, but instead, Marcus helped John by shooting the pillow next to him to warn him that Ms. Perkins was coming in his room to kill him and when they were suffocating John, Marcus shot one of Viggo's men allowing John to get free. John met with Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel towards the beginning of the movie in that underground club who called him "Jonathan" he was the one who told John that Viggo's son Josef was at the Red Circle club. Where Josef was in the bath house. I think you may have been talking and missed them explaining the rule of the Continental Hotel, which I'm sure you know after watching all 3 movies, but the hotel is a sanctuary for assassins and you cannot conduct "business" on hotel grounds. Viggo offered Ms. Perkins more money to kill John at the hotel and because she violated the hotel rules, The hotel manager, Winston, had her membership revoked (she was killed) But before that, she saw John and Marcus talking and told Viggo, who then went to kill Marcus for betraying him when he didn't kill John like he was supposed to. Even though John finally killed Josef for stealing his car and killing his dog and all should've been over, John got the call that Viggo killed his friend Marcus and then he had to go and kill Viggo for that. You asked about a body count for the movie. They've done a count online and I believe John Wick killed 77 people in the first move and more and more in the others. Keanu loved it and said that he though the number could always go higher.

I split them doing a basic double sinawali. Check out videos of it... very interesting Philippine fighting style. Also, you may hear about something called "standing judo" ... which is essentially aikido... aikido goes to ground too, but is very upright, they don't lay down or grapple like they do in Judo

It's called The Lake House. One you have to pay attention to as the story can get away from you quickly if you don't pay attention. It's amazing. It also gave me one of my favorite songs, Paul McCartney's This Never Happened Before.

BJ asked what kind of martial art... it's not quite jujitsu... it's more like aikido, with some aiki-jujitsu and judo mixed in. All are Japanese arts that rely on leverage, joint locks, and throws. Size doesn't typically matter with these arts. I spent 20 years studying those (and others, but focused mostly on aikido, judo, and weapons) and it is very effective in defense against multiple attackers and weapons within arm/leg reach.

Marcus, the one hired to kill him but didn't was also the friend from the cemetery at the beginning, not Winston, the hotel manager. This is the sweetest miss that a lot of people miss. The dog he took in the end was marked to be put down. Pit Bull, you know how it is. So many ways you could look at that philosophically. It is one of the best movies I've seen in awhile. Intelligent and simple storyline once you grasp it but they doled out the info stingily to slow the first part so that the info came faster to match the pace of the action. Brilliant yet simple way to ramp up anyone's attention. Bait, hook, dangle. Elegant. Not saying it was perfect, it's definitely flawed. The one part that I had the hardest thing suspending my disbelief on was Yosef not knowing who John was. EVERYONE and their granny knew this man but he didn't? Huh? I'll let it go that John's immortal, but not the other. Bugs the crap of of me. BJ, you're right, he went through a LOT of training. Just look up Keanu Reeves John Wick training. You will end up pulling one with an actor that will be in 3rd. I don't think it's a spoiler but you can avoid that one just in case, pretty sure they'll show her name in title so may as well say it's Halle Berry. I DO want to see what you make of someone in 2nd. So stoked. edited because I have zero memory lol

When he was fighting in the club, it wasn’t the dad he was fighting. It was one of the security guys. Also, you guys kept referring to his wound as a gunshot. It wasn’t. When he was fighting that security guy the guy picked up a wine bottle and swung it at John Wick. John Wick blocked the bottle with his arm and broke the bottle. Then the security guy stabbed him in the side with the bottle. So that was a stab wound he had.
