The Exorcist

The Exorcist

Comments

Asia got it. The necklace found in Iraq was the same Father Carris wore. The Film wasn't about Ragen. The Devil wanted Father Carris who was questioning his faith.

Kyndu

She actually did date Rick James too - but she was 22 and he was 33. I didn't know about the Springfield thing, so I had to look it up. Apparently she was was actually 15 (they are ten years apart) and he was 25. Still that 🙁face is wholly appropriate.

Todd Rush

The GOAT.

Kevin Post

Have to say, there were a lot of flannel nightgowns with split pea soup all over them on Halloween of 1973! Great reaction!

I grew up living in the church, denominations didn't matter. Went to Lutheran school religion class everyday/confirmation classes, chapel Wed,Sunday sch/services till noon. We'd be driving to east Texas to visit (big) momma, devoutly saintly but absolutely nothing crazy, her church was AME so I got The Word in different ways, here in town if I was hanging out with Auntie went to💒 United black Methodist probably my favorite if I had ever married. So I couldn't watch this until it was daytime 6yrs ago in October at home alone, 👀 but I'd seen parts b4 on TV, it was very disturbing more than the JOKER,so to is Og Amityville Horror its totally going to make some folks 🤮nauseated, 🤢 yuk yuk hell is a gross place.

The link isn't working. 🥺

THAT FREAKIN BLANKET!!!!. LOVIGN IT!

Linda Blair dated Rick Springfield, Not Rick James... She was 12 he was 25🙁 True fact.

Shenita Macisaac

That is one of those relationships I cannot for the life of me picture in my head.

scary movie 3 funny too

Bret Alleman

Unrelated to the movie, but fun fact: Linda Blair, who played Regan, dated Rick James in the 80's. James claimed she broke his heart and that his song "Cold Blooded" is about her. She broke up with him because of his drug addictions and had an abortion (his child) without consulting him.

paranoidandroid

Now the two of you need to watch the scary movie number one and two by The Wayan Brothers. Really funny and uses the exorcist and the scream movies.

Marc Connery

The Exorcist III is the sequel and it is very good. It is based on the second novel by William Blatty "Legion". It follows the priest who gave Damien the last rites and the police detective. It is well worth watching. Don't waste your time with Exorcist II. It was written by a different author and not very good.

s8150f

I feel the same way about ouija boards.

s8150f

Did you watch this from beginning to end?

Asia and BJ

We appreciate you for watching and supporting our channel.

Asia and BJ

Hey Dan!!! Disturbing is an understatement when it came to The Exorcist. This definitely lived up to the hype for sure. We really, really love experiencing all these new movies. Thanks for being apart of our community. Much love.

Asia and BJ

That makes more sense. Because we were lost about that. I didn’t think that was the same piece Father Karra’s found in the desert but it was just weird that it resembled the Pazuza. So yeah Regan was a creative artist that molded that piece mainly due to the possession.

Asia and BJ

MikeyG!!! Hope you had a great week. We miss talking to ya. Thank you so much for always holding us down and being super solid. Thank you so much for watching and supporting our channel. Talk to you soon.

Asia and BJ

Hey Dee!!! Thank you so much for supporting our channel. We appreciate your thoughtful comments.

Asia and BJ

Oh dang!!! Funny cause we didn’t see the spider walk everyone says that is so infamous in The Exorcist. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel.

Asia and BJ

Yeah also we’re confused about the Pazuza piece. Glad you clarified that it wasn’t the same thing that was found at the bottom of the stairs.

Asia and BJ

Wow!!! Now it makes so much more sense. Thank you so much for the detailed breakdown. And don’t be sorry about the text. We really appreciate you for watching and supporting our channel. This is why we do what we do.

Asia and BJ

Oh ok that’s right!! That’s why the mom was mad at the maid for leaving. She was supposed to be the one watching the daughter. Well that probably save the maids life by leaving to go get the meds.

Asia and BJ

Thank you Lee!!!

Asia and BJ

The power of Christ compels you!! Nice reaction folks!!

Lee Stephenson

Burt the broken neck dude was suppose to be watching Reagan while the maid went to pickup meds.

Okay, just to cover a few things for you guys quickly. The priest at the end (Father Dyer) was Karris's friend, the one he got drunk with earlier in the movie, who helped him take his shoes off. The "overseas" priest was the old priest (Father Merrin) who Karras performed the exorcism with, who Regan killed - or at least helped kill. He was also an archaeologist, which is why he was on an excavation site in Iraq at the beginning. And that figurine he was holding in Iraq, as well as the big statue he stood facing, was of the demon-god Pazuza, a personification of the West Wind in ancient Mesopotamia . It was also the form that Regan briefly manifests toward the end, during the exorcism. Oh, and the figurine found at the bottom of the stairs in Georgetown was not the same Pazuza head, it was one of Regan's clay sculptures. I think it was a little pig, but I'd have to get a good look at it again. It's not clear exactly how Father Merrin died, but his heart more than likely gave out, and likely after he was physically struck. We can see that Regan is free of her bonds when Karras comes in the room, so it's just a question of whether she got free before or after Merrin died - and I definitely lean toward it being before. (Actually, now that I think about it: I believe that in the book, he's trying to get one of his pills after Regan has hit him or knocked them out of his hands, but he doesn't make it. Been a long time, so can't remember for sure exactly how that went.) The medallion is a St. Joseph Medal. The words “Sancte Joseph ora pro nobis” (St. Joseph pray for us) are inscribed on it and are meant to protect the wearer from evil spirits. In the director's cut of the movie, when Regan's mother tries to give Father Dyer the medallion, he hands it back to her, saying, "Why don't you keep it?" Finally, you guys have to remember that this movie started the whole exorcism craze. Before this movie, there were very few reported exorcisms (at least in the States). Something to keep in mind when wondering about character motivations and actions in the movie. Also, it was probably largely thanks to this movie that people started being so superstitious about Ouija boards - which work mainly as a kind of subconscious, automatic writing, nothing to do with spirits. By the way, you guys should react to Twisted Sister's Captain Howdy some time. Sorry for the wall of text! ;)

paranoidandroid

Glad you guys finally got to watch it! However, you probably should have watched the Director's Cut version, which includes Regan's infamous spider walk and a somewhat better ending. ;)

paranoidandroid

Omgosh! Im scared to watch you watch lol. I was thinking, “Stigmata” is a really good and scary movie!

Elizabitty213

Yes! This movie is the Classic in my book.My mom said her and dad went to see this movie at the theater(1973) and when it was over she looked at him and told him if I got up in the middle of the night that he was going to get up with me,lol,I was 6 at the time and my hair was just like hers at the time. She said it was intense and everyone watching were scared.

Dee Lawson

This n Rosemary's Baby with Mia Farrow where some of the creepiest movies ... Emily Rose did better actual effects... As far as drama ... But this was creepier.. thanks Guys n Gals ... ✌️👍👏👏

PatiMeltz

Yusss!!! I have been waiting for you to react to this movie. These are really the only type of horrors I watch and the only ones that totally freak me out. Horrors based on true stories and/or about people or things being possessed. Amittyville Horror, The Omen, Mothman Prophecies are also good ones. Great reaction Asia and BJ to an awesome movie.

MikeyG

the creepy thing the inspector (cop) found next to the stairs was a sculpture made by Regan. If you pay close attention, there are a few places where it's mentioned that she's an artist. She made a replica of the one Father Merrin found during the dig in Iraq. And, about the necklace that the Mother gives to the priest at the end, Regan ripped it off Father Karras's neck before possessing him. The Mom found it in the room. Anyway, those are the answers I knew! Freaking wonderful reaction!

Just Michelle

That "Jason music" at 19 minutes in is the intro to Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" - an absolute masterpiece you should react to at some point. You could do side 1 and side 2 as 2 separate reactions, as each part is about 25 minutes, but it's AMAZING. Some bits about the movie...the scene where Regan is masturbating with the crucifix, and her head turns around - that's Burke Dennings' voice, saying "Do you know what your daughter did?" implying that Regan may have broken his neck and thrown him out of her window. When Regan slapped her mom, the actress (Ellen Burstyn) was in a harness, and they yanked her across the room, actually injuring her back. The projectile vomit was split pea soup, but they did it when Father Karras wasn't ready, so his reaction is genuine 😅 At 1:37, you talk about the artifact that Lt. Kinderman picked up near the bottom of the stairs - it wasn't. It was one of Regan's sculptures, like the one the Lieutenant saw in the house when he was having coffee. That's what made him think that Regan had possibly done it. When Father Karras leaps out of the window at the end, a stuntman made that jump 2 or 3 times. If you watch closely as he falls down the stairs, you can see the thin strips of black rubber that the film crew used to help the stuntman survive the jump. Then finally when Father Dyer (the priest playing the piano at the MacNeil's party) runs down to give Karras his last rites...he's a real Father, not an actor. So the director didn't like how he was doing the scene, so he slapped him across the face right before the take where you see his hand shaking with emotion. The little coin necklace at the end was one of the pieces they found at the very beginning of the movie, and Father Merrin had brought it to the exorcism, so that's why it was there at the house. Father Merrin likely died of a heart attack. You saw him taking those pills (nitroglycerin tablets) both at the beginning of the movie, and there halfway through the exorcism. It goes to show that he had some kind of known heart problem, but wanted to save Regan, so he took the pills to keep going. The demon Pazazu is the one Merrin found at the site in Iraq. First the small head he found in the cave, then when he went back, it was the full size statue that he was standing across from, implying that they would meet again later. It's probably the same demon he had exorcised from the child in Africa 10 or 12 years earlier. If you remember, the cardinal had said "I heard it damn near killed him." Also, when Merrin first entered the house, the demon screamed his name, so he could sense his presence. I wouldn't bother with the sequels, they aren't anywhere as good as the original. There's Exorcist II: The Heretic, and Exorcist III. This was SUCH a great reaction 😁 Next you need to watch SAW for a real horror movie 😏

I sleep with my windows open, but I live 4 floors up and no balcony.....the fire escape windows stay open with a bar of wood on top so they can only open like 4 inches lol

Elizabeth DeMerie

The real exorcist was a about a boy. They didn't find out his identity til recently. He lived in another state. The family brought him to St Louis because they had family here. The exorcism took about a month to complete and 3 different places. The last place was Alexis Brothers Hospital on the 2nd floor. They shut down the floor and later the hospital. The eeriest thing that happened to me was I had a floral delivery to the 2nd floor of the hospital. I went in the wrong building and took the elevator to the 2nd floor. Security guards came rushing in and wanted to know how I got in and how I got up to the 2nd floor. The elevator had been shut down and the building was locked up. This movie was way before it's time. The walls were packed with dry ice. Linda Blair hurt her back. They put her on a harness. While they were shaking her up and down, the harness broke. They call this the cursed movie. A lot of strange things happened including people that died while making it. I'm so glad you reacted to this. I don't think I've seen that look on Bjs face ever

Disturbing movie for sure BJ. Great reaction! Lots of controversy about this film when it came out in 1973. To my knowledge it was the first film to venture into Exorcism. History making and the Ouija board is a significant part of the story according to the book version.

Dan63

O.O I don't have time right now, but I can't FREAKING WAIT! This is gonna be amazing!

Just Michelle

Omg almost done with night shift can't wait to get home lol

Elizabeth DeMerie

That's based upon story here in St. Louis!
