New Tutorial Prerelease!

Hey everyone,

Hope the year is off to a great start!

So… Before I started the first Texturelabs tutorial, I made a list of ideas. This video, no kidding, was the very first thing on the list. It was also a video I thought I’d never make. Where would I start? How could I explain the logic of this strange effect? It’s an effect that, without question, I’ve spent the most time noodling with over the years in After Effects. With so many possibilities, what would I focus on?

The effect I’m referring to: CC Time Blend FX

Never noticed it? That’s because it got removed from the effects menu in 2015. HOWEVER, the effect is still accessible! It just requires a little workaround.

So for the New Year, I finally buckled down and created this video. Sidenote - If you’re not an After Effects person, at least check out my Purple Haze remix for the intro :) The bass line turned out pretty sweet.

Hope you're well! More on the way…

Cheers,

Brady

Hey Kingston! If it's not showing up at the moment on the bottom of the tutorial page (https://www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-access-41095239) - it may be a case of the dreaded Patreon-lag, where sometimes is takes a few hours for the credentials to get forwarded. Apologies if that's the case. I'll attach the project file to this post... you can also find any files on this google drive as a backup: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cJigz6C-v3H_9wxdY6gR9imD-P9JE2Ml?usp=share_link The project file is called Texturelabs_PurpleHazeTemplate.zip Let me know if you have any trouble with it! Cheers and sorry for the hassle... -Brady

Hey Brady, I'm having difficulty finding the AE project template!

Not that I know of... The effect works a lot like running a simulation - in that there's not really any way to do it backwards. Best bet I think would be to build your graphic in reverse, then render it out and time reverse the video. Kind of a hack, but you might get some cool results!

Hey Brady! I have one question. What about animate in and reveal the text instead animate out as we see here. Is there any chance to do it? Thanks in advance.
