Maybe even older since they just went in, not returning to tell everyone else about it so tje town can be founded. Also keep in mind that all of the dudes on the first layer are 2,000 year old skeletons praying, and Bondrewd said they are ready for the "next 2,000 year event" coming up. I think the explorers may even be 2,000+ years old, predating the modern discovery of the abyss 1,900 years ago and the skeletons praying are the tribe the explorers met.
