Honestly S2 is not even the problem. It’s the second half of S1 you gotta endure. That is the lowest point of SAO. I would argue that as a whole, S2 is just as good as S1

2025-08-23 14:46:40 +0000 UTCNow, I understand where the hate for season 2 comes from, I still label it as my least favorite but, after rewatching the whole anime for a seventh time with my girlfriend I didn't skip it, I usually do, I saw the actual point of both parts of the season. The comedic and serious aspects of the first arc, and the absolute emotion poured into the second. Yes the pacing was 20x times slower moving forward past season 1, the diversity they threw into this was a good change up. Also I do believe that Aincrad shoulda had more screen time but it was still beautiful in the end.
