I agree for the most part but I am someone who loves one piece for the story and writing but I would have preferred to have seen the whole god valley incident over the Kuma backstory. Thereβs a lot of thick juicy narrative elements in that GV incident and oda is cutting away from it for a reason. And this is to also say that I was always wanting to know what the deal was with kuma, I just would rather an awesome world history/lore filled battle epic with good character writing rather than the tragedy oda gave us with kumaπ

Anime with depth are not going to reach a majority when all they're looking for is spectacular animation. Even within the One Piece community how many really care about the story? They'd rather want to see more of the God Valley Incident than sit through Kuma's backstory which is filled with emotion. If the scene has no aura then it's probably skipped. Honestly don't know if these kind of people have empathy.
