Mason's Summer Scenario - Soaked Through

Honey-scented aromatic plumes burst around me as the water from the hose splashes onto the roses. The summer sun glints off the sparkling droplets that land with gentle kisses on the perfectly plump petals.

I glance over my shoulder to the vampire brooding in the shade near the backdoor of the Warehouse. “You don’t have to supervise me, you know. I think I’m quite capable of managing to water a few plants.”

With the others out on an extended mission, Mason had been put in charge of my safety. And he’s been taking it very, very seriously.

“And what if some Trapper jumps out of the tree line to snag you while I’m inside?” he huffs out, folding his arms. “It’s not like that hasn’t happened before.”

“It’s also happened before that I’ve managed to handle myself just fine against them,” I remind him, moving towards the hydrangeas in full bloom. “I don’t want you to be uncomfortable out here in the heat.”

“There are other ways of making me comfortable, sweetheart/handsome,” he suggests, the words framed by a slowly growing smirk.

With a chuckle, I turn towards him with just as much of a teasing reply on the tip of my tongue…when the hose suddenly spurts out an unexpected jet of water right across the shade-loving vampire.

I suck in a sharp breath, watching as water drips from the edges of Mason’s shirt, running in rivulets into his jeans and making them sag heavy on his slim, toned hips. Crystal clear drops drip from the tips of his fingers.

His eyes snap up to meet mine beneath soaked waves of dark hair.

“…Whoops,” I mumble and give an innocent shrug. “I didn’t mean for that to happen. Seriously. Wait, what are you doing?” I let out a yelp as Mason is suddenly on me in a flash, tugging the hose from my hand.

He waves it tauntingly in front of me, stormy eyes flashing with intent and curls of mist licking across his clothes as it steams beneath the beating summer heat.

I put my hands up in defeat and back-up a few steps. “Ok, let’s talk about this. I splashed you completely by accident. There’s no need to—Pfft!” My words are little more than bubbles as a stream of water cascades down over me.

I stand hunched, arms outstretched, as my soaked body begins to drain itself of the water.

Mason barks out a sharp laugh, clasping an arm across his stomach as his amusement continues. The rare joyful sound of it is almost worth getting drowned for.

“Does this make us even now?” I splutter, flicking water from my hands as I shake myself off as much as I can.

“Hmm…” He drops the hose and slinks closer with movements so smooth that it instantly makes my temperature soar. His arm wraps around me, and he uses his free hand to run a finger down the length of my nose then trace over the curve of my lips, catching a droplet on his fingertip. “I suppose so.”

“Then can I get back to my actual task of watering the plants?” I ask, leaning into him, my question almost whispered as a kiss against his lips.

He smiles. “Oh, I don’t think so. Not quite yet.”

“Alright,” I mumble, my gaze dropped to his lips and the sweet temptation they offer. “But you can be the one to explain it to Nat later when it’s not done.”

His hands run down the arch of my back, purposefully trailing a light touch with his fingertips down my spine beneath my wet top. “I’m sure she’ll understand.”

Unable to resist any longer, I press my lips to his in a gentle kiss. His tongue slides against my bottom lip, and I allow entry with a moan.

“It really was an accident,” I mutter as he moves to my jawline. “You didn’t have to soak me too.”

“Well, you were obviously so desperate to see me wet, I thought it was only fair to I get to see you the same,” he mumbles as his slick lips trail moist kisses down my neck. A needful groan escapes me.

I only just manage to extract myself from the embrace with a grin. “And what if I was just trying to cool you off?”

“With you around, sweetheart/handsome, cooling off just isn’t an option,” he replies through a purr.

My tongue darts out to moisten my already damp lips at the words. It’s not as if I don’t understand the feeling. Mason’s wettened shirt has glued to his lean frame, giving the impression of every strong line and toned muscle. The urge to run my hands beneath the fabric and let my fingers explore is almost overwhelming.

In fact, the thought is so tempting that I don’t bother resisting.

I once again close the gap between us and hook my fingers beneath the sodden hem of his dark shirt and skim my fingertips across the top of his jeans.

His hips rock into me at the motion. “Sweetheart/Handsome, you keep going where you’re going, and we won’t be staying out here for much longer.”

“I’ll go anywhere you want as long as it’s with you,” I whisper as I curl my tongue against his ear.

He holds to his promise, dragging us both inside as I release a chuckle and eagerly follow along. I’m not sure why he wanted us to get somewhere cooler only for us to get hot again…
