Keep in mind that the slime movie is set right after the end of season 2and before the start of the 3rd. Also after you've seen it all there is a spin off slime comedy series "slime diaries" which is set around the first season. All this while waiting for the fourth season coming with the second movie

FMAB would deserve this spotlight a lot, also it's been long since nick watched a high quality classic anime for patreon exclusives. Sao IS good, but after season 1 it gets repetitive and it doesn't even reach higher peaks. The best it's good at is animation, that's all. I like sao don't get me wrong, but I'm sick of his patreon only appealing to the mass now. Frieren is my only thing keeping me right now and the new weekly anime, solo leveling right now. I know it's easy to just unsubscribe from the patreon, but I've been part of this patreon for long and I remember back then the focus was rather very cultured anime with high quality stories, instead of mass appeal. Even if sao wins, I will watch some of it along, good luck to both parties!

It's arguably only good in season 1 and 2. 3 is a far cry from what the show was intended to be about and honestly it would be a better show in total without most of that season. 1 is a great concept season and first implementation, 2 is a great follow up and execution of what shouldve been the show finale. 3 is just.. meh? Idk, I won't call it bad but I won't call it peak.

The story is really not good and a lot of it is very superficial staged. The only thing that kept me watching are the fights, the setting of the full dive vr world, the worlds in it and my curiosity tbh. I liked Alicization arc much more than the rest of Sao and that says a lot. If you're watching it for the first time, it might not be a bad experience, but I would prefer FMA B for the depth, the characters and the story.

The initial arcs are also amazing but the ending is kinda bad because the mystery becomes super obvious and anti-climatic.

I don’t think he should pick SAO solely because he’s already watching so many long-running shows between the big 3. I actually think he’d really enjoy Alicization, especially Eugene’s arc + all the great music but it’ll take nearly a year to get there given his pacing. Plus he’ll probably struggle to get through season 2 & 3 like you said.

You've got some good shows in here (Monster and FMAB), SAO is a fun watch and opens up the potential for the abridged. But if he watches SAO and likes it it means we probably have to deal with seasons 2 and 3 + Alicization. And SAO post season 2 is hard to watch. So I really don't see anything worth voting for. But the people asking for Monster aren't being crazy like the FMAB people so.. guess thats the vote.

Also while fma follows more closely to the darkness of the manga brotherhood adds a lot to the comedic side of the show throughout the whole thing and while it may give more in depth experience mixing the both in my opinion it also majorly breaks the immersion halfway through switching from the gritty fma to the more wholesome but still serious fmab

One piece might take the cake with world building and some other things but I can't whole heartedly compare a 64 episode complete story with 1000+ episode incomplete one. I'll take an example here that not everyone can relate to: Let's say a majority vote is made that decides which anime will come on Netflix next. We have Monster, FMAB, SAO, JOJO. In this case, Monster would never win because JOJO and FMAB simply have a bigger fan base, which you can understand because they are simply great shows, but SAO would also get more, which is objectively a bad show. And now to play the mediator of reality again, it is a truth, just like if someone said to you that it is true that if you jump out of the window you will die and not fly, that Monster is an objectively better show than all the others on this decision. Even if I wasn't a Monster fan, you have to be honest and put your subjectivity aside. Monster is one if not the best manga comparable to Berserk and YOU CHOOSE SAO? It's just a simple truth, even if you don't agree with it, yes such a thing still exists. It's not like I say these things because I always want to be right, but because they are simply true. An example: Ok, I'm not a really big Bleach fan. I didn't grow up with it, so I may JUST MAY like this show, maybe in my subjective perception not as much as other anime, but still it's an objective truth that Bleach is an absolutely great one show with one of Shonen's best antagonists. Now you know which antagonist is objectively better: Johan Liebert. So please there is no serious debate here at all. Of course FMAB and JOJO are absolutely great shows, but they are no better than Monster. The writing behind Monster, the Philosophy behind Monster and the Antagonist the philosophy of Good and Evil, the other Character like Lunge are all some of the deepest Characters ever. You can't compare that even to Naruto and I freaking love Naruto (And no I'm not one of the dudes who complained that Naruto isn't coming as often)

2025-02-03 14:40:37 +0000 UTCI voted FMAB but it comes with an *, you need to react first to FMA since the first 13 episodes or so of FMAB are the "speedrun" version of FMA and they lack very much in the impact and emotion they need while FMA expand them and treats them excellent so maybe switch from FMA to FMAB on the point of the split because I feel like if you'll only react to FMAB you'll miss a lot of the beauty of early FMA storytelling.
