And he is already as influential as would be a Warlord. He has already beaten 2 of them (and imo stronger than Law and Jimbei in Punk Hzard). The Warlord tier is no longer something out of reach for Luffy. Now he is willing to compete with emperors, which is insanely crazy.

So full explanation down below. Smiley was created using a devil fruit to be precasie Sara Sara no Mi, Model: Axolotl and after eating the "Candy" it died. The theory is when the devil fruit user dies the devil fruit will spawn in the closest same type fruit or at least has a chance to do it, so for example if Kaku would die his devil fruit will be revived in next bannana is the closest as his devil fruit looked like bananna. Same with the apple, orginal Sara Sara no Mi, Model: Axolotl had to be an apple shape and thats why they use apples. Also one more think you don't know why he called this slime a Smiley, you will learn about this far far more in the searies and trust me it is deep.

It has its' slow moments but the arc as a whole was masterfully done. Nick is focusing on the wrong thing though. Just enjoy the OP journey and don't let your OCD and ADHD get in the way right lol

I feel like if you just focus on the good things such as the symbolism and themes, you won’t even think about the pacing. Also you said yourself that the pacing isn’t even bad in this arc yet you keep talking about it. I don’t want people to influence your thought on Dressrosa and try to degrade its amazing story telling by talking about its pacing, and sure it does have some issues, it honestly didn’t stand out to me too much. When you end up getting to dressrosa, I just wish you don’t think about pacing at all and just focus on the story, comedy, etc
