My two cents: Nick, love u and your reactions. I wanted to say that as a manga reader ! found One PACE does way more justice to the manga than the current anime itself. I don't understand why so much stigma surrounds it. If you look at fishman Island the remake is only 21 episodes which is 37 episodes less than what you had to go through - that's 37 episodes of non canon reactions, running, extended slow motion/paced scenes and extra lines of dialogue/ interactions that nobody wants to see considering most manga readers loved that arc in the manga and anime only hated it in the anime - that speaks volumes to how poor anime adaptation ruins the story. The next coming arcs are FAR worse in terms of pacing issues and they are honestly UNWATCHABLE. One piece is an amazing story but even that can't survive the appalling adaption that Toei has done. But yea here's my 2 cents advice. I really appreciate getting to watch your reactions. I do think early one piece was pretty good tho interms of adaptation for its time - minus the censorship and extra non canon filler to drag the story- but it was watchable because they were adapting 2-3 chapters per episode. Whereas in timeskip the anime adapted between 1/4 of a chapter to ONE chapter, just so that they could keep releasing weekly without catching out to the manga - which is sad considering they were willing to sacrifice the story's quality just to keep posting weekly $ (Fuji Tvs fault- they own Toei)

2025-01-02 23:55:27 +0000 UTCI'm going to only say this one more time and hopefully Nick and his mods understand this as well. Fishman Island isn't only bad because of pacing and animation. The characters, story outside of Fisher Tiger/Otohime, and stakes are all bad. Jinbe (at least in Nick's case) is the only interesting character until we reach post-Fishman. I'm not going to spoil but Punk Hazard is the most compared to Fishman out of the PTS arcs and it still has a way better cast of characters, villains, and story that revolves around the actual plot that Nick is probably longing for. I remember back when I watched One Piece the only arc that I truly struggled to get through was Fishman Island. I hope Nick actually enjoys the rest of the show, I know there will be moments like this but not to the degree that it is.

But One Piece and other past shonen manga that aren't recent don't put much effort into animation, which is frustrating because it doesn't bring out the best in them.
