I originally had posted a rick roll link as a joke, and while reading through the other suggestions, a fellow commenter had linked an opening from Ikkitousen. I was inspired, and so it was that I deleted the rick roll and began a journey through the dark, damp caverns of the Internet. My goal: to find an ecchi anime opening that is wild enough to cause Nick to freak out yet actually entertaining beyond the shock factor. I searched frantically and saw things that no person was meant to see. However, my trek through the underworld did not go without reward. At the end, I finally found an OP that is equal parts horrible and hilarious, and I like that Senku’s VA performs in it. I doubt Nick reacts to this one, but just in case the needle of miracles is threaded and he pulls it up during stream, we are in for a 90 second (plus time for the inevitable pauses by the forehead man) ride of a lifetime.

The pure amount of passion and love Studio Bind has for the source material, to not waste 1.5min of episode time for playing the opening, but use that time for new scenes where we can see the character's daily life or them traveling while the absolutely perfect fitting opening music plays is just something special. Gives me goosebumps every time because it makes me so happy to watch something like this where every animator put their heart into this, with having full respect and appreciation for the source material. It's not just an anime released for the intent of grabbing money, the animators thought of it as a work of art, as something to be enjoyed by millions of people, and we can see that mindset being reflected in the opening for each episode. It's not using 1.5min of your and the episode's time just to break immersion and ultimately just make you skip the opening because you don't wanna be spoiled, instead they use this time to make you even more immersed. Fun fact: Studio Bind was specifically created just to adapt Mushoku Tensei. Since this is pretty much the only anime the studio is working on (because it was made for this project), its existence represents artistry over mass production, something that most other studios are not following. This is also good for the treatment of the employees, as having to manage too many projects and thus requiring too much work force (to which the solution would be overworking) is a non factor here. The studio was created as a joint venture between White Fox and Egg Firm, with Egg Firm handling the organization and financial backing, while White Fox is the side where all the magic happens. White Fox is a very special studio, probably my absolute favourite, due to the sheer amount of passion and love they put into their works. Cutting openings and endings to deliver more content or to not break immersion (or even increase immersion in Mushoku Tensei's case) is not uncommon for them. Some of their most notable anime in their absolutely insane catalogue include Steins;Gate (as well as Steins;Gate 0, which are one of the most beloved adaptations in the anime community), Re:Zero Akame Ga Kill Every time you see an anime made by White Fox, you know that you're in for a good ride (or very very tragic ride because their narrative is very dialogue heavy, making you build a really heavy emotional connection with the characters to give you some really unforgettable, often tragic scenes). So yeah, their work ethic and way of doing adaptions has been transferred to Studio Bind as well, which all leads back to the reason why I love Mushoku Tensei's OP 1 so much; it's a masterpiece that redefines what an opening can be, blending music, storytelling, and immersion into something truly unforgettable.
