to answer your question about aira, she didn't always have the ability to sense the supernatural. it's a common belief that young children and animals are more susceptible to the supernatural - because of this, when aira was very young, she was able to see acro-silky. as she grew older, she became unable to sense the supernatural. when she picked up okarun's ball, the high level of spiritual energy that it contained awakened her own ability to sense the supernatural once again.
