2024-12-30 17:50:23 +0000 UTCProblem is both the manga and the anime do a bad job of showing it... From what's shown, Rin is EVERYTHING to Obito. We dont get to see Obito deal with anything else that disillusioned him more than losing Rin. You say Rin's death was the "straw that broke the camels back", but we really never got to see the countless other straws that were placed on the Camel beforehand. People arent wrong to assume that Obito did this for Rin, in the manga Obito's primary motivator is shown to be Rin, and Rin alone. Of course his Goals are a bit more complex, but no one can deny that Rin's the REASON that he chooses to do all of this. Rin's death is simply more of a revelation to him than anything. A revelation to how rotten the world is from his POV.

Ever since we first saw Obito until now.. every flashback and scene was about Rin. He wants to create a world where he can be with her again. If Kakashi would've died instead of Rin, he wouldve been sad, but wouldnt have went to such extent because Rin would've been there for him. Yet he's planning on putting everyone into a Genjutsu just because she died. So what are you on about?

Rin's death was the straw that broke the camel's back, and made Obito realize the world is fucked and needed to be remade, Rin herself is far less important to Obito than what people think. I understand why, but absolutely hate, how so many people perceive him to be some simp whose whole motivation is making a world for HIM to be with Rin, I'm pretty sure Obito is not even planning to be with Rin himself in the remade world, just for her to be alive and happy

Kakashi's also killed Haku the same way, if you rewatch the scene where Haku dies, you can see the trauma in Kakashi's face.
