'Look Back' by Fujimoto (UNCUT MOVIE REACTION)

cried watching this mastahpiece

Quiet AC

this movie is masterpiece

Izzan Lutfil Hadi

It's so obvious bro, if you watch a lot of anime you will know what's gonna happen

Izzan Lutfil Hadi

In my opinion it is inspired by the tragedy that happened in 2019 at Kyoto Animation

lucasalvati

Watch Kotonoha no Niwa movie it's 46 min

Anas

Also you might have noticed but [Fuji]no + Kyo[moto]...

NootNoot

In 2 days on stream 11am est

CSR Kurapika

The shot at 8:35 is a representation of how she feels being compared to Kyomoto in front of her class. Everybody's been there it feels like everyone's attention is on you and it's suffocating. They did an amazing job at conveying that exact emotion this whole thing is a masterpiece <3 Well that's just my personal thoughts :)

NootNoot

The manga itself was decent, but damn the music and animation really brought this home. he cut out the credits here, but I really loved how the blank 4koma becomes more prominent as day turns into night.

shpongles

where is Naruto man

Muzaffar

i agree

원 지

Love this one shot and am so thankful I got to see the movie in a really nice cinema with a friend.

Ryutix

True but I feel like a lot of the long montage scenes could have instead allocated towards the actual runtime of the film, if that makes sense. I wanted to like it but it could have been a lot better, the OST is amazing though.

B J

...its a short film, and there's plenty of struggles i'd argue. Only so much can be done with the time frame of a short film/oneshot format of the original

Tio

A bit disappointing, it feels like a lot of stuff is left up to interpretation. It's hard to really feel for the characters when there's not enough onscreen struggles for character development.

B J

Amazing movie and reaction. On that note, when is Arcane reactions coming out? Hope all 3 ep come at the same time

Lucifer

movie of year is haikyuu !! And why do you think she's dying from the beginning of the movie? ;;

원 지

Nick could you react to the movie Princess Mononoke? Its an anime movie made in 1997, its absolutely amazing

Elle

Completely unrelated but are you going to react to the Haikyuu dumpster battle movie now that it’s out on crunchyroll? Been dying to see your reaction to it.

KingMaz01

The subtlety of the names reinforces "Look Back" introspective theme and makes the manga a reflection on Fujimoto’s own artistic journey, balancing the constant demands of serialization with the deeper, often unhurried, pursuit of personal creativity.

Rythm_

Through this bifurcation of his character name forming his own name, Fujimoto could be  expressing the internal dialogue many creators experience: the urge to keep producing for an audience versus the desire to step back and create for oneself. It’s almost as if he’s saying both aspects coexist within him, and both are essential to his identity as a creator.

Rythm_

Look Back delves into why people create art, presenting two contrasting motivations. Fujino seeks validation and approval, while Kyomoto creates for personal expression and solace.

Rythm_

Characters (Fuji)no and Kyo(moto) split Fujimoto’s name. Also Kyomoto drawing from "Kyo" (Kyoto), subtly nodding to the Kyoto Animation tragedy.

Rythm_

The "Spy Family" reference on the "Shark Kick" cover subtly nods to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s connection with his former assistant, Tatsuya Endo. This Easter egg symbolizes the growth and "separation" of assistants, like Endo, who go on to create their own successful works. It reflects themes of legacy, influence, and creative continuity in the manga industry.

Chainsaw Man went on hiatus after Volume 11 in December 2020. Fujimoto released Look Back in July 2021, and the fictional "Shark Kick" also went on hiatus after 11 volumes, with a hint at Chainsaw Man (Shark man in look back) Part 2’s return

Rythm_

Fun Facts on Movie - A thread Look Back was released in July 2021 as a tribute to the victims of the tragic Kyoto Animation arson attack on July 18, 2019, which claimed 36 lives. The one-shot honors those affected by the devastating event on its second anniversary.

spoil chainsaw man reze arc in the jump lol

CélestinAuRSA

Wow Kyomoto looks just like one of the Chainsaw Man characters currently in the manga!

YellowboyRickLee

Totally unrelated, but will you be watching arcane season 2?

Gullible Piggy

me personaly i thought the movie wasnt that great. the message was good, the art was good, but they had a way of portraying it which was common to me also it should have had more emotion to it or for it to feel more like they are showing me a message rather then telling me one if you know what i mean.(sorry if i was waffling)

Gabriel

nicholas: look its shark man and chainsaw man me: look its pickaxe man

Gabriel

did bro just spoil this movie to me with his thumbnail, nah bro please

Nachtarox x

What I admire about Fujimoto-sensei is his ability to layer characters so deeply that you feel genuinely attached to them. His portrayal of human emotions is strikingly real. From my understanding of this movie is that it raises a profound question - 'Why do we create art?' For some, it's about validation and making readers happy; for others, it’s a personal expression, independent of anyone else’s opinion.

Rythm_

*SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THIS MASTERPIECE* the incident at the end is i think based on a real thing that happend at an art school

Jan33vio

I wish I could have seen this in theaters 😭- but it's still a gift and joy to watch for the first time through your reaction. My heart was so tense the entire time, and the artwork & motivation of these two characters inspires me alot now as I am trying to find my creative spirit again.

103_luna_111

i'm just waching it again and i'm getting so emotinal again from the first seconds just from the sky shot and music

Jan33vio

movie was great. it was beautiful and you can see the passion in it. wish it was longer though, and had more emotional impact, but thats ok. love how it looks so simple in art yet so detailed. i feel like for the paper ripping scene, other studios would show much more pieces of paper, whereas here, they showed less but a reasonable amount of pieces but had so much detail, sizes, and angles and so on, to show it well. great and beautiful movie overall. will go down to me in memory for how beautiful it was, all of it, not just the art.

scorpion

1:06:06  I mean, Chainsaw Man has great deep storytelling; it's just covered in Fujimoto's weirdness, aka. "His style of storytelling." And that's why I love Chainsaw Man, for it's storytelling, writing, and characters.

Popcorn

The KyoAni incident makes that one scene hit so much harder

Aimgo

You would LOVE manga "Oyasumi Punpun" and hate at the same time. This Movie gave me the same type of feeling as punpun aka. Goodnight Punpun A 10/10 Masterpiece
