I think they do the catchphrases and laughs and stuff like that so that you are reminded if who the character is and their goals they are trying to attain.

I can't speak about others, but I personally prefer if you scream a bit less and pay more attention to the anime. This is just a suggestion on my part btw no hate. Because sometimes it feels and looks like your eyes aren't on the subtitles and I feel like you're missing important details

The repetition of catchphrases is often used to fill in gaps in scripts. It's only weird because we hear the characters speaking with their voices, but if you read them in the manga, it doesn’t feel as cringe as in the anime. Because in the manga, we don't pay attention to those scripts, we skim them through and move to the next panel, which only takes less than a second.
Authors sometimes struggle with writing scripts when there are too many characters, so to simplify the process, they assign each character a set of catchphrases and attitudes/characteristics. In this anime, Senku and Chrome are the characters who are always excited. It’s much simpler to place catchphrases at the end of an episode or a manga chapter to provide a sense of closure.
Imagine yourself being the author, when you struggle with the script, you just have the same character repeat the same thing. But that does not feel weird because they only release around 13 to 16 pages per week.

Use Improve Crunchyroll google chrome extension. You can put crunchyroll in theater mode and subtitle will be in the middle of the screen just as you want

i think it's also a japanese humor kind of thing; there's a lot of standup comedians that I don't enjoy from Japan who use that kind of catchphrase humor (like the 'dondake' guy). So I think it's just part of their taste, like how Naruto says Dattebayo

As you know, Dr. Stone is a shounen, which is directed for young boys. I think the repetitions of the catchphrases are used to help the audience pay attention, remember, and get attached to the characters. Obviously, as an adult you may find it unnecessary.

looks like a reddit psychology thread above... ima be a Temu WebMD real quick. I'm pretty sure that the medicine Senku made for Ginro and Yo was the equivalent to Dramamine (motion sickness pill) its OTC.

It's called executive function disorder. And it's a trait of ADHD. You have a lot to do and your brain won't let you start.

Yeah true, catchphrases are definitely a universal thing. But I do think it's a bit extra in Japan. Idk if you're a but familiar with the language, but when you hear a character speak a certain way, you can already deduce quite a bit of their character. A simple example is the use of "Ore" or "Ataj". It already says a lot. Just listen to Gen, the way he talks is super unique to him 😂
BTW I do think this is exclusief to anime cause they don't talk like that irl, lol

i think it's more basic. It helps to build familiarity and to associate that phrase with a character or series, which is a global thing for marketing. The idea being even if you don't follow something you know it's from X thing... like Star Wars' "I have a bad feeling about this"... even if someone says that not intending to quote Star Wars, it makes you think of Star Wars. Likewise, you hear someone say "Believe It", a fan would be reminded of good times watching Naurto.

My simple explanation why you sit there and dont record? Youre burning out and forcing yourself. Procrastinating and putting things off for no reason usually means you subconsciously dont want to do what youre trying to do. Think about it. If liv said lets have sex, youre probably not waiting 6 hrs and staring at the wall. Youre jumpin her right away.

Dude. Almost every single anime uses catchphrases and in your face personality traits. its part of the comedic aspect of anime. Its also why you see things like "thats because hes kinro"...relating to the play on names of characters. Kin(ro) is a play on gold. So theyll say the above quoted phrase when he does something in a "golden standard" way. Like saying his personality is like that because of his name. Its a style heavily used throughout most every single manga and anime. You would die if you read this manga. Gen uses pig latin in every sentence and chrome always uses the phrase "baaaaad" in every sentence...like "thats one baaaaad dude"

Thanks for the chill react Nick.
About your question about catchphrases and stuff, this is just my guess l, but I really think it's a Japanese thing. Of course everyone has one word they use a lot personally, but with anime and manga it's probably more than that. They way anime characters speak with certain dialects or phrases already says a lot about their character from the beginning. Like if their more sophisticated or more of some kind of gangster, you can hear it all from the first couple of dialogue.
Idk how to explain this, but it's definitely a broader language than English let me just say that. Lol😂
But yeah I do think the catchphrases are a japanese thing tbh.
Sorry for the yapfest💀

To answer your questions about why do characters have catch phrases like "this is exhilarating" , it's most often to add comedic value but it can also be used to quickly give personality to a character so that you get to know them faster, as it's the case in Dr. Stone. For example with Senku it tells from the get-go that he is a very excited person that is not keen to get worried about stuff, while the "Greed = justice" of François and Ryusui it just helps people associate the idea of greediness and treating people and things with fairness to these characters. It's basically just a tool to help remember the characters with their traits, like if you can't remember Ryusui's name, you can still be like "oh that's the greed guy" and others will know who you're talking about.
