My Hero Academia - 5x24 and 5x25 (UNCUT REACTION)

Unfortunately you have to have training arcs and slice of life episodes. If you don't show it then you can't tell a cohesive story. A case study for example is the episode 7,8, and 9 trilogy of Star Wars where the training arc was just a flash back and all of the character struggles and growth appeared to come out of nowhere. You can't always imply these moments sometimes you have to have the highs and lows. A climax is a peak, you have to climb to get to it and then you have to fall back down and re-built it for more. Season 5 is a monumental part of the story and they even deviated from the formula and made the first half of the season the slow part where previous seasons had the slower part in the second half. It shatters expectations to build up to a final battle type of feeling. Critics of season 5 aren't wrong, but they could use better words.

I actually prefer training arcs to no training arcs. Makes the gained power increase feel earned. I dont like powers just growing because time passes. I wanna see characters struggle and rack their brain in hopes of a payoff...not even a guarantee of one...because that feels too predetermined. Id love to see a training arc where the hero doesnt gain anything but a sense of their limitations.

The problem is... My hero tries to throw all these characters at you (mostly the students) and expect to care for them when doesn't do a good at it imo and the exam system a lot of the time is really not that interesting. There's a reason people like the villains and characters like Endavour, Hawks a lot more.

Great reaction, just adding so you wont get confused - Shigarakai being the grandchild of Shimura is revealed in s03 I believe in the AFO v. OFA fight. AFO mentions it there to All Might to break him mentally down(that is the moment where All Might stops smiling), I know tho that it has been a WHILE for you so I get that it was easy to forget with , but just wanted to mention it so you KNOW that the cast already knows this.

talking about James btw not you Martin. For the record weather he wants to admit or not MHA is just as good in the dub as the sub, and I would argue does some characters better, chiefly Erik Vale as Shigi (especially after the voice change in this season after his awakening) Endeavor, Hawks, Dabi I feel are all better in the dub. Some voice actors just didn't hit the mark but for the most part is it is awesome, But the thing is the sub is incredible to. Erik Vale is a fantastic VA and brought so much needed life and uneasiness to Tomura's voice.

Also All Might found out about Shigaraki being Shimuras grandma in Season 3. All for One told him during their fight to wreck his spirit. Mocking him “where is your smile?” as he did the same gesture as All Mights master ofter did when she jokingly told him to smile. Gran Torino knows about Shigaraki identity to and told All Might “even though he is her grandson you haft to look at him for who he is not his lineage” while simultaneously probably regretting throwing All Mights masters son/Shigarakis dad into fostercare.

The English dub did Shigaraki's awakening perfectly, btw you missed it here. In the dub the voice actor has this scratchy undertone to his voice but the moment he destroys the hand his voice because clear. Similar to this where his voice became louder as he woke up.

I haven't heard any official confirmation of MHA Shippuden. The final chapter of MHA is being released on Sunday and with it some type of special announcement to go along with it. People are speculating it might be a continuation of the manga as a 'shippuden' thing. Personally, I would want the announcement to be about there being one final movie that will be about the kids as pro heroes in the future. I just want to see them acting as pro heroes and doing a mission just once.

To think, the second movie actually took place after this arc. The manga teased Nine and starting Nine’s experiment during this arc and while they kept the Villains looking like they used to during the second film to not spoil anime onlies, there’s hints in the film that show it’s after the villain arc. Plus the manga confirms the project the Hero Commission made that sent the kids to the island happened before the Endeavor arc (since the anime studio switched the villain arc and Endeavir agency arc to fit the release of the third movie) It’s just funny thinking that watching the anime, thanks to them rearranging things, you’d watch the third movie before the second movie. 😂 I do wonder if the new movie will be canon like the first three were.
