Yeah, when this came out, they colored The Girl's skin gray from the neck down to imply she wasn't naked but just wearing a skintight suit when she transformed from Ochako to her "normal appearance".

(Time frame between Manga and Anime). Now yes she draws into her admiration for Deku but in turn it becomes somewhat of a flaw that someone exploits. Her hero goal is clear she wants to be the one who lifts up those who does the heavy lifting. Of course in her case it is Deku. Now all of that doesn't make damsel in distress nor a weak character, her goal was never to become number 1 or the top it was always a support like 13 is. Just trust her fight is coming and so is her moments.

2024-04-20 11:26:17 +0000 UTCyeah, many characters in his class do get inspiration from deku, and i think it's of course a core part of the show as the symbol of piece thing, but i haven't seen it overshadow a character so much like in uraraka's case. yes it's very much age appropriate, yes one of her motivations for being a hero is deku, and yes it ties heavily into being the symbol of piece and second all might, but in recent seasons, uraraka's lines are really 90% deku. i do like that the money conflict with stains ideal comes up, but it is again barely thematised or talked about much, in comparison to other characters. on the flipside, uraraka's deku thoughts are consistently everywhere after a while. and yeah, i do agree one of the problems with her character is that she doesn't really tie into the story like a steady flow. she ties to... deku, and not much more of the plot, except that she wants to support him in whatever he does. (more deku centric thoughts incoming haha) . for me it's just, compared to the uraraka of season 1 and 2, where she was part of the show as the female lead and had interesting moments, now she is kind of a female love interest with not much more attention to otherbparts of her character given anymore. she totally has other aspirations and stuff, but they're never really thematised beyond some rare internal monologues on uraraka's part. on the other hand, as you said too, look at any other lead character and they have a lot more presence, development and interesting moments throughout the show.

"deku is amazing" "i have to save deku" "i want to be like deku". i really wanted uraraka to be the amazing character that she was built up to be in season 1 and 2, but now, as i'm waiting for season 7, she has become another one of these token love interest whose lines revolve around the main character only. without her love for deku, exclusing the first 2 seasons, who IS uraraka? what is her role in the show except for being deku's love interest? how is her character growing and how cold being poor have affected her character in more ways (or even create flaws to work on?), and how are her aspirations for being a hero becoming stronger and clearer except "i want to be like deku"? her inspirations of season 1 and 2, her fight with bakugo, all that was never talked about again and replaced with her crush for deku, to the point where she hasn't even got any badass hero moment as the main female lead of the show.

2024-04-20 09:33:19 +0000 UTCI love this exam arc. You really see the powers of the top 3 blossoming. You don't just have random power ups in this anime, with people getting stronger for no reason. They learn about their skills and what they can do to improve. Not to mention that they're growing up. Not every episode is going to have the emotional whammy of 9-11, but that's true of absolutely every anime. You cannot have emotional highs without a lead up. For me, the only fall off was end of last half of season 4 and first half of season 5. Trouble is, it can be difficult to tell when Nick is genuinely reacting and when he's just putting on a show for us.

Her original goal for heroism ties in with themes of the show in how heroes working for money is inherently "wrong", and she grows past that as she realizes how important the work is. She does this as she watches Deku risk his life and destroy his body to help random people, so of course he becomes her biggest source of inspiration. I don't think it's totally over liking him, since most of class 1A (Iida, Todoroki, Mineta) all experience this in some way. Deku is just inspiring to them, which makes sense since he's basically the second All Might. The main problem is that Ochako doesn't have some large tie in with the story overall unlike Todoroki and Iida, so these themes are almost always brought up alongside the entire class in the anime. That said, those realizations are still important, and are still used in a meaningful way for her growth as a character.

Some of my favorite fights are in this arc, but it obviously still drags in a lot of moments. That's interesting to me. How MHA's worst arcs still have great moments. Can't wait for you to finish this season, it has some fire scenes.
