That's the thing, in war good and bad aren't really the point, it's a battle of ideals. One justice will trample another's justice. That's the sad truth about war. also about Suzaku, you're def right and most people think the same and are annoyed by his view of justice... I don't think this is a spoiler anymore as you already finished the show, but him saying all this crap, yet after he does the same (the extreme; when Euphy died) he just said fck it) it's like his ideals vanished instantly and literally turned 180. so he's just saying all this crap as a pretext for his actions..... he's one of the kinds of people I hate the most; hypocrites.

He killed them under the pretext that the JLF ship self detonated, without the rest of the Black Knights knowing(that's why Ohgi was suspicious). That's also why Suzaku was so angry when he confronfed Zero (cuze he knew the general wouldn't do that).

They want him to change things from the inside immediately, but fail to realize he's still just a regular soldier right now. He can be demoted or terminated at any moment if he disobeys orders. Just like any company or institution, he has to work his way up until he's in a position that gives him the power to change things, even if that means sucking up and falling in-line right now. In fact, he's actually using his pull with Euphy to speedrun his progression as a soldier, by doing thing's no other soldier would be allowed to do. He's doing everything he can to obtain the position necessary, yet people will still complain because they simply want him to join Lelouch.

This is one of the best anime ever- I don't even need to like mecha anime but this one is for sure -THE EXCEPTION- . Also it's discussed in the community that this anime has probably the best ending of all anime. (I need to finish AOT to see which is better)

2023-11-11 08:40:26 +0000 UTCYeah Suzaku has himself not killed innocent civilians at least from what I remember(unless the knightmares he destroyed killed the people inside, but they may not be innocent too.) But yeah he hasn't done much at all if anything to stop Britannia from killing innocent civilians, but Suzaku has gone out of the way to save people falling from buildings before. I think it's best to think of Suzaku right now as a soldier for peace. He fights for peace, as weird as that may sound because fighting in a knightmare likely results in death. Suzaku is not on the side of Japan, as he not only hasn't sided with Zero, but also hasn't yet sided with the JLF or other Japanese in general. But yeah this just means he is getting used by Britannia because he hasn't sided with Japan, and so far Suzaku hasn't articulated any kind of end goal. He wants to see immediate peace, as to why he keeps repeating a similar phrase to 'if the means to an outcome are wrong, then no good outcome can come from that.' (aka no peace can result from war, I think is his stance.) But again, he's a soldier, so trying to reason through this logic doesn't make much sense, at least for me. But yeah the Lelouch/Suzaku duo in Code Geass is one reason this show is very interesting, among other aspects as well.

And also just to add, Code Geass is an anime exclusive show, meaning that the anime is the original story, but they did make some additional content with a manga series for an alternate timeline as well as movies and a small 4 episode special that takes place between seasons 1 and 2, called Akito the Exiled. So yeah not sure if they did some alternate story to explain CC's true name somewhere, but it wouldn't be part of the original story.

2023-11-11 02:28:56 +0000 UTCi really like the way suzaku and lelouch are kind of presented as "opposites," though they also seem to be just two sides of the same coin. but in my opinion, BOTH of them are hypocrites, one way or another. suzaku condemns zero's actions and murder as a whole, but he still carries out the orders he's given even if he has to kill people. although he tries to keep sacrifices to a minimum, in the end he can't avoid them altogether. meanwhile, lelouch first insists that their fight should be against britannia as an empire, and shouldn't involve civilians. yet he ends up telling kallen the complete opposite, that they'll have to keep pushing on, no matter how many innocent people may get dragged into their battle. at the end of the day, both of their perspectives are somewhat understandable & neither is fully correct or wrong
