HAIKYU!!: Episode 9 - 10 (PATREON EXCLUSIVE REACTION)

Comments

I'm rewatching the series here since I got in the Haikyuu hype again after watching the movie, and damn I'd forgotten how funny it is to see Nick trying to match the commercial breaks music lol

Celphan

Kuroko no Basuke is my favorite sports anime, Haikyu close second too, I fully agree that you should do that show at some point

Shadow

I was always so skeptical that I wouldn't love sports anime even as a fan of both sports and anime separate from one another. Haikyu was my introduction to sports anime and I absolutely love it and I am glad you are enjoying it too! I know you like Basketball so I strongly suggest you do Kuroko no Basket next, it's got the same feel to it as this does.

Drew Becker

god damn that asahi mou ippon gives me chills

Ben

I’m very excited for you to watch season 2 tho hopefully you will get there. (right now it has 4 seasons - I think a movie will come out soon or something ) Season 2 is very cool because you are going to see a lot of character development and I will stop right here because I don’t want to spoil.

Also in regarding past episodes. I seen that you thought that Kageyama rejected the offer from Aoba Johsai and he told his teammates he just didn’t get accepted and you thought “he’s hiding it? Why?” (the great king’s highschool) Well. That is not the school kageyama meant - so you just confused the schools - no biggie. Shiratorizawa (a power house of a highschool which will be shown in future) is the School that kageyama wanted to go to but got rejected because of his grades so he choose Karasuno because he heard that Coach Ukai might’ve come back (he didn’t but as you can see in this episode- his grandson came (the shop owner)

Florin DM

Information you might have misread on this episodes - the team that caused Asahi to go into that bitch ass state isn’t Nekoma (Nekoma is the team that the teacher announced that they will play with) The hype around this match and why is it called the battle of the dump is because these 2 teams have a big rivalry.

This series is ELITE

Grateful for this info! Why do you have to miss it, can't you play/watch/talk about it anymore? Esp given theme of these eps

Btw again, Asahi is voiced by Reiner Braun from AoT and Hinata was right about Kageyama. Kageyama was always tall. He wouldn't understand being envious of someone taller than him. Also the neighborhood association aren't college students. They're full on adults. They have jobs. Also, this isn't related to Haikyuu (loving the reactions to this and Code Geass btw) but I gotta recommend watching Undead Unluck to Nick. It's fresh, but it's honestly really good so far. Also it's annoumced Yuki Kaji (Eren's VA) and Hinata "Sho" Shoyo's VA are going to voice some roles in the show. And they're major characters.

In volleyball Hinata will become much more than a decoy or an ace, I love him so much ❤️❤️

Sabrina

after haikyu watch ping pong the animation

It's crazy how, Haikyuu makes 1 episode of good scenes, OST, and amazing full-emotion voice acting is enough to make you love a character so quickly.

I love volleyball so much! I miss it. Some trivia for anyone that is interested: on the board they label the positions WS for Wing Spiker, MB or M for Middle Blocker, S for setter, and L for Libero, but most places in the US distinguish the difference between the WS by having the person on the left called OH or Outside Hitter and RS for Right Side. Since the West has slightly different rules than the international rules there’s also a back row position that’s different from the Libero called a DS or Defensive Specialist. They sub in like normal in stead of running in and out like a Libero, but they typically will replace an OH or RS who is not very good at receiving. In the a lot of the West, the Libero can serve in place for one middle but it has to be the same middle each time, players can sub in and out more than once per set, and the biggest difference is we don’t typically label positions as ace, decoy, etc. As a middle I was a decoy, but it wasn’t like I was called that explicitly, because when I hit the other hitters acted as decoys for me. The setter will typically set a ball to the OH as a last resort but it’s mostly because it’s extremely difficult to set a quick set off the net, and it’s easier to send a ball to the far side of the court to give your team more time to regroup and make the other team move. Some other language differences: toss= set; chance ball = free ball; spike=hit or kill when you score (I know a lot of people in the west still say spike, but it’s kind of an outdated term that I ever only hear non Volleyball players use). Also another fun fact, the flat palm receive Noya did, we sometimes call that a pancake or a six pack. I was confused by the different rules and terms the first time I watched Haikyuu, so if anyone who’s never played before and only watched this anime goes to play somewhere that doesn’t follow these rules or use these terms, that’s why. Sorry for the wall of text. I just really love volleyball and miss talking about it

Wild Wesley

alright my guy, I definetely never comment and thats my bad, but it took me so long to realize/learn from different perspectives that Coach Ukai's quote of "How cruel" meant how cruel that such a deep and perfect growth match took so long to take place. and after its meaning damn it still messes me up, I can see you're enjoying this friendship and even me I have never seen anything like it. And if anyome thinks thats a spoiler ain't no way yall didnt think that first watching it since these episodes. it is amazing

HeftyEr0s

It's amazing how quickly Haikyuu gets you to like and care for its characters. Crazy to think that this is just the beginning of the journey and it's already packed with so much emotion

Teodor TG

So glad you're enjoying watching my favorite anime. The best is still yet to come as this anime only gets better as it goes on.

Hey Nick if you want. Haikyuu is really nice to binge. It might make it easier for you if you wanted to binge a ton of episodes one day and then release 4 of them a week.

Time to rewatch haikyu with Nick for the 10+ time

Great i can't wait ep 16

jiwon330

man...these scenes get me every time, no matter how many times i watch this series. a few little reminders: 1. again, there are no "nobodies" in this anime. if you see a character once and hear their name, chances are VERY high you'll see them again at some point, possible even multiple times. that's one of the reasons haikyuu is an incredible series, everyone has their own personality & plays a role, and no one gets left behind! 2. the neighborhood team folks are all around 26, considering ukai played with them in high school about 7-8 years ago, so...you're roasting yourself along with them, lmao happy halloween to you & live!

Man this anime really is just a love letter to volleyball
