If you're talking about the Seirin group (or at least the group that co-opts this name), I don't get what you missed since it was pretty obvious. The story of this arc is the election, remember? They were another faction that had an actual chance at their candidate being elected with their goal being to reform the Association, which has pretty big implications (reformed commandments, reformed exam, no chairman). Instead, they die, and the Association is left to whoever is elected who may just do nothing and keep everything as is, which can be good or bad depending on if you like how the Association is currently handled. The "story is affected" by their deaths because it directs the Association down a path of not changing. Who knows if they would have been successful, but as it stands now, it is unlikely anything will change; the exam will be handled the same way, the commandments will remain the same, criminals will be allowed free reign due to being hunters.

This ark is so nice. One of my favourites. Of course it doesnt beat Chimera ant arc or Phantom troupe arc but it's close to hunter exam arc which is still very good. Also everything involving Zoldyck family is such a treat.
