People are commenting back and forth on it but objectively, FMA Brotherhood is one of the few anime with a passable dub. Definitely not better than the sub, but you can tell more effort was put into the dub compared to other anime. There are definitely a few characters in the dub who were lazily cast though

When the first FMA came out, the original story wasn't finish yet. So the animation created their own ending. After the writer finish her story, they remake the animation base on the original ending, which is the Brotherhood. So the Brotherhood is not a follow up of FMA, you can either watch them separately, they're two different story

This will be interesting, I haven't watch Brotherhood yet, only the first version they did on FMA and it's already a lot different being the old one first episode explain what happen with AL and Ed since the very beginning and how Ed became an alchemist but this is an interesting approach. The only bit you’d be lost is the transition from the first episode and the second as the first episode is a pilot episode. From episode 2 onwards it follows the manga all the way to the end unlike the first one where they caught up too quick and then became independent anime cannon I think somewhere around opening 3?

It feels so weird to see Edward talking in Hange's voice. I personally watched the dub version of FMA. In the dub they don't butcher their names and it also feels much more natural imo. Roy Mustang really has a 'Roy Mustang' voice, Edward sounds like a young guy instead of a middle/middle+ age woman. Please at least give the dub a try

But I have a feeling there's so much passion in fans in how great this dub is that I mean I'm not going to do this every episode, but have a feeling there's going to be a sub versus dub war for the entire series if he doesn't put up a poll to see what the fans think. Obviously it's not our decision. It's his, but at least maybe we'd shut up after we got our voice heard. I don't know Like this is the only episode I'm going to state my case for the dub. It's incredible but the sub is tolerable. I'm going to watch it regardless because I want to see his reactions to everything so if he decides to keep going sub then I'm fine with that. Let's all take a moment to remember that this man is, at least in part, a performer putting a show together for our amusement. Yes it's also for his own amusement, he is the one watching the show for the first time after all, but if this wasn't also for us, the audience, he would just watch these shows on his own time like the rest of us do. What Nicholas should be doing (if he wants, it's his channel) is put up a poll for sub or dub and let the fans decide. He should be doing something that both he and the majority of his fans enjoy. ALSO, let's try to remember what we're all doing here. This is an experience for all of us to welcome in a new member of the anime community with opens arms and show him all the wonderful things it has to offer. We're trying to show him why the anime community is great and what really doesn't help that cause is pompous, self important sub purists who are up their own asses just because they read subtitles. Sub is great. Dub is great. ANIME is great. Who cares how we love the shows we love as long as we love them? Just let people enjoy things, life is too short to be this petty over what language the characters in a tv show are speaking. You're not better than anyone just because you're "getting a proper experience" or "superior in every way for all anime, no exceptions." We are all equally anime loving weebs and losers and that's okay lol. If we all agree that he should watch it in dub and he switches, get over it. If he decides not to and stays with the sub, get over it. FMAB was the highest rated anime of all time on MAL for over a decade for a reason, it really doesn't matter which language he watches it in, he's going to have a phenomenal time regardless. Nicholas, if you do see this, I do highly suggest a poll to put an end to all the bickering. The dub is legendary or being one of the best anime dubs in all anime history, regardless of what the purists say. And if sub wins the poll, that's fine too, the sub is also fantastic. You'll have a great time either way. Don't let ignorant people on either side of the spectrum sway you one way or the other, anime is a great time and we're here to show you the best time we can!

HOWEVER, that being said, the dub version of FMA is definitely watchable and not as bad at others.
