The first design is for Nabby's mom, Naberius VII. I wanted her to feel like an ‘evolved’ Nabby, so she has stronger inhuman/chimeric traits to better paint her as a notable Goetic demon. Of course, her resemblance to Nabby is also evident (as seen in the back cover where everyone is sitting on the couch), and I think Tos did a wonderful job making them similar but distinct. Naberius VII is also the first character in my series to receive multiple outfits, with her beautiful dress representing her royal nature and days of yore and the snappy suit signifying her modern mindset. I’m quite enamored with her design overall; it’s easily one of my favorites from Tos! The second new design is for a young Nabby. The goal was simple: I just wanted a younger version of Nabby that would appear in the locket for the novel’s front cover. Accordingly, her outfit is meant to be adorable and reminiscent of her adult design, though I also wanted to use it as an opportunity to show her bird feet as they’re covered in her adult outfit. I think Tos drew her very cute, especially when she’s napping on her mom’s lap!
