Shakti flowed through the cosmos, the primal feminine force catalyzing all of creation - in one form the nurturing Parvati, embodying beauty and maternal grace, wife of Shiva and mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya, the gentle goddess who supports and nurtures the universe; in another the fierce Kali, terrifying destroyer who ripped apart illusion, adorned with a garland of skulls, tongue dripping blood, embodying the raw power of destruction necessary for rebirth. Though seeming opposites on the surface, they were two faces of the same divine essence, the yin and yang that allowed the universe to breathe. As Kali danced her furious tandava, she locked eyes with Parvati across that flickering line between creation and destruction. In that infinite moment, their seeming duality merged into one unified tantric manifestation - a thousand hands cradling pain and suffering while showering the universe with bliss and renewal, healer and ravager, mother and devourer, the cycle of birth and death given form. In the spaces between her myriad dimensions, Parvati and Kali made transcendent love, their passion creating suns and black holes as the cosmos exhaled its mysteries in revelatory ecstasy, until the cycle turned again and shakti split into its dualities of serenity and wrath, perpetuating the sacred dance until the time came to reunite in one.
