In Hinduism, Yama is the god of death, and he is known for his role in judging the sins and virtues of the dead souls that come before him. His wisdom and commitment to preserving order in the universe also earned him the name "Dharmaraj." His judgment on deceased souls has direct implications on what form the reincarnated soul becomes next. He is also known to ride a water buffalo as his majestic steed. Athena is the Greek goddess of war, wisdom, and weaving. Her associated animal familiar is the owl. It looks like these two deities finally decided to settle the debate about who is the wisest among them.
